    Be sure to practice defeating your cover garment with your strong side hand only. In the real world, there is a high chance that your support hand will be preoccupied with something else like blocking a bat/pole/punch/knife, being bitten by a dog, holding something you can not drop like a baby, moving someone (friend or foe) out of the way or just being in an awkward position.

    What counts is the end result of the draw making shure that bullet goes in the right spot, the purpose of a good draw is it's end result, so speed with out a 4 inch circle hit at 10 yards means we need to slow it down or modify our draw

  • @libra7624

    training is knowing how to do something, practice is to repeat what's been taught, training should mirror it's proper context, for example law enforcement and military is different then private citizen defense in many ways but few exceptions to the rule, defensive training is like reverse competition shooting, your objective is not to chase but take cover and defend mainly, rare exception to the rule as a private citizen a need to chase, this is why instructors confuse students about what gun they need, caliber, capacity and tactics, and what seen is ammo resources often are wasted on less likely event simulations when 90 percent of that ammo could be used wisely for the most likely event simulations, on RUclips channels I could literally count thousands of dollars on ammo used for least likely event simulations rather then putting the resources into the most likely events to conserve ammo resources, any waste of ammo effects us as a country giving us less go around where needed for those that don't have it so ammo efficiency in how it's used is important

  • @libra7624
    @libra7624 День назад

    The foundation of the draw is a one hand draw where you can get the gun out with one hand and your grip is not dependent on two hands, the other hand is only for support but most private citizen defense situations are close enough to be resolved with one hand, thats why pistols are called hand guns and not 'hands guns' it's because they were made for one hand close quarters combat wich is not competitive shooting where high right thumbs forward grip is used with a weak high thumb grip wating on other hand to complete grip, also high right thumb grip on some guns hitting safety, slide stop or slide of gun causing it to go out of battery, on the range with no stress may be fine but real life that's 4 things a high right thumbs forward grip can cost you, it's just as Americans we tend to take habit of things that are popular

      I disagree. The foundation doesn't start with a single hand draw. We must crawl and walk before we run.
      I do agree as does any basic instructor that the dominant hand joining the gun is key.
      The "hands gun" comment, that's a joke. Every old-timer said this and lost matches to guys like Jack Weaver, who shot two-handed.
      All that said, a single hand draw is important, and it's part of our program.
      There is no body of evidence that supports your claim. If you have it, please share it.

      @@CarryTrainer you get good with one hand wich is the foundation, other hand is only for support, look at nir mam on idf trainer who talks about this also the high right thumbs forward grip is not a combat or a defense grip, a grip that's dependent on a second hand is not a good grip, it's waiting for the puzzle piece to complete then grip when you may need other hand to block,strike, go for knife or get someone to safety so the analogy of having to learn crawling has no application to the context when you may need one hand while other is doing something else in a close quarters private citizen defence situation, your foundation is one hand and then everything else builds off that, it's a hand gun not a 'hands gun' the other hand is only for support if you got the distance, it's not a combat or a defense grip either waiting for piece of the puzzle to complete the grip, a full one hand grip with low right thumb on middle finger is the right grip, then other hand is only for support if you have the d Ii stance but on the range two hand close quarters simulations don't count because you know in advance the simulation is coming, in the real world you won't get advance notice in a close quarters combat of defense situation, look at nir mamons videos a idf trainer and more gun fight the even Jim cirrilo or bill alard, the problem with America is we think we know it all but don't then we train people these popular methods because some other gun guru said so, nir mamon idf instructor is what instructors need because they been teaching things that hundreds of gun fights have shown not to work wich explains why the high right thumb waiting for left hand to complete a grip has shown in thousands of videos not working for law enforcement getting guns grabbed easier, more likely to go out of battery, hit slide lock or thumb on slide stopping gun, so the high right thumb grip no matter what competition shooters say,mits not a combat grip, not a defense grip but is for fun and games, the foundation of a grip is on hand the other hand is only for support, the right thumb goes to middle finger to first complete the one hand grip, drawing and shooting with a high right thumb is a compromised grip where a gun grab is easier, so the foundation is a one hand grip, it's a hand gun not a 'hands gun' the other hand is only for as upport and a one hand grip should never be dependent on second hand for a strong grip, we need a strong one hand grip first and then build off that

      @@CarryTrainer An "argument from authority" means using the opinion of a recognized expert or authority figure as the primary evidence to support a claim, essentially saying something is true because a person with perceived expertise said so, rather than providing independent reasoning or evidence; it is often considered a logical fallacy when the authority's expertise isn't directly relevant to the topic at hand or their opinion isn't adequately supported. this is often what instructors do when they get hung up on never wanting to look at another opinion

      @libra7624 I'm familiar with fallacy argument. We teach single handed drawing. Your argument is with yourself. I've got none.
