    Small edible gold sheets don't cost as much as you think it's actually pretty cheap

    • @xnonsuchx
      @xnonsuchx 7 лет назад +56

      In the USA, between 75 cents and $3 per sheet, depending on where you buy it. Maybe even less in bulk.

    • @leurehc
      @leurehc 7 лет назад +32

      they're usually 1/10000 of a mm thick, so pretty cheap

    • @DeadlyMitten
      @DeadlyMitten 7 лет назад +32

      and that's to buy it. The worth of the gold would be only about 10 cents tops. The rest comes from fabrication cost.

      Gold would be better used for scientific or in a technical application due to it's properties rather than ingestion

    • @MsPlasmax
      @MsPlasmax 7 лет назад +21

      well , actually the body does need gold. not so much. but in micro quantities it is found around heart and aids a bit in neural transmissions.

    I have been eating gold covered stuff since my childhood. So I can tell you that Gold taste irony and of nothing tbh. Its basically a fancy color to entice the rich. Its a neutral substance is very stable so it doesn't react with anything.

    • @juandenz2008
      @juandenz2008 7 лет назад +30

      Are you rich ? ha ha. Anyway, you are right, putting gold leaf on things is just incredibly ostentatious and also pointless since it has no taste and no nutritional value.

    • @roshill2010

    gold was first eaten in ancient times as the believed it had health benefits and the ancient Egyptians believed it could give you immortality also it was used in medieval medicine as they thought it empowered the heart

      100% agree with the concept, but for some people it's not realistic for that to be possible. It's more realistic for mikey because he is a guy and has significant muscle mass. I on the other hand am a very short woman, I will never have the biological capability to burn as many calories as mikey even doing the same work outs, purely because of my size and gender. I do not have the required testosterone to house as much muscle which in turn burns more calories. My TDEE is only 1600, I always have to watch what I eat. :(
      Pretty crappy sad reality, if I want to eat like this it has to be on very rare occasions.

    • @HawkOni
      @HawkOni 7 лет назад +17

      You may not ever be as ripped as a man, but Mikey wasn't born a muscly baby (or at least, it's highly unlikely). Anyone can work out and enable themselves to burn more calories, it just takes hard work and dedication. I also believe that in a lot of these videos where he eats a lot of food, we're seeing his only meal of the day so that should be taken into consideration.

    • @kusanagiSakura
      @kusanagiSakura 7 лет назад +4

    I lived in Kanazawa, which is a city known for it's gold leaf production (The Kanji for Kana- means gold). Visited quite a few shops selling gold flakes, gold covered iPhone cases, paper, ornaments, accesories, food, tea, pens, chopsticks, and just a bunch of gold stuff in general.
    One had a small tour of their workshop and a "mini-museum" (highly recommend it if you ever visit) and they told us that they only need 1 gram of gold to cover a tatami mat, which is why gold covered ice cream is just slightly more expensive than normal ice cream.

    I just discovered your channels.... will take me while to catch up lol. I really think you should adopt me and take me food travelling with you. I haven't drooled so much in my life as I have in the last hour lol. You look like you are having a lot of fun along the way. Truth be told I have an illness and can't travel so I can now live vicariously through you. Great vids so far... thanks

      The whole meal looks gross. Carb overload. It you are gonna go Katsu, go with a fresh, made to order place. This chain is whack.

      Hell, no Japanese eat curry with forks either. Use a god damn spoon you Westerners!

      Eating curry (even normal sized ) with chopsticks will take forever to finish, I tried it once. It's more convenient with a fork and spoon.

    Hey Mike if you are coming to Singapore, you might want to try another curry place called Monster Curry. The portion is amazing; comes with fried chicken cutlet/katsu, sausages, pork slice and more and it's worth the $20+.
