I miss movies shot on film. Old school film tech had a certain magic that is lost with todays digital. There is a difference between the look of real film vs color graded digital.
Why is it so complicated to load film in a Panaflex camera? Can't a camera be made where you simply slide a loaded film cartriage on top of the camera and it's loaded?
The camera movements are modified and taken from old Mitchell cameras. The design is essentially from the 1940s or so. The Arricam ST or LT were made in the early 2000s and were based on the MovieCam's design from the 80s, refined in the 90s. Very easy to load. The easiest of them all is the Aaton Penelope.
why this cameras are very expensive while we can DIY make one its easy with just milling machine and we know how is it work is it lens that make it expensive or film reels?
The film reels are completely different to the lens the lens is completely different to the Camera, if your asking just about the Camera body, it's so expensive part of it is because of the name "Panavision" and another is because Panavison was so iconic in the 70 and 80's and because the Revolutionize the industry with these ground breaking cameras, and yes you could just make new cameras in mass production and sell them for cheap but that's not Panavison. Another reason is because there aren't to many left so there's a limited stock of these beautiful cameras! It's antique and old people will pay thousands for something so historical! Panavison is history, Panavison is the past and Panavison just maybe the future.
I've met some of the ex-Service techs they told me they massage the hell out of the parts, and the Pana Lens is basically Leica elements with a custom ground anamorphic
Yeah, I was having trouble figuring out how to put film in my panavision camera.
Their instruction book sucks.
what a beautiful sound...film moving through a camera.
It's much quieter than I expected.
@@dreamdiction these are quiet. Only IMAX cameras are very loud
I think, I can touch the smell of the film stock and the mechanic in the camera. Love that !!
Yeah, cool but where do you put your SD card?

The whole film crew waiting for 15mins for a roll change. So much hassle. Arri makes it much faster.
Which better cinema film camera or digital cinema camera
digital is much easier and far cheaper. but at the end of the day it's what image you're after
Depends on usage, for drone and gimbal digital is better, for color use film
Better in what sense?

A 1000 feet 35mm film reel costs $800 and it allows you to record 11 minutes at 24fps
