Sadly, I didn’t grow up with the show because it was on a channel I didn’t have at the time as a kid. Luckily, I was able to watch BvD movie every October on Cartoon Network during their Friday Flicks when the channel was still good. I never knew the movie was connected to a tv show until about middle school. I have forgotten about the show for many years until about a year ago when I found the complete series at Target. I’ve been watching it ever since. 20 years and “The Batman” still holds up.
I love that Joker too!!!! With that said, I've gotta disagree with your opinion on the Penguin. Sure his hat's waaaaay too big, but Tom Kenny's Penguin voice somehow managed to be exactly the way I imagined the Penguin to sound when reading the character in comic books.
i honestly imagine the same kind of voice for penguin, but maybe another actor who dosnt trigger blind rage in me like tom Kenny, nothing against the guy, he's nice, but his voices piss me off
Tom Kenny’s Penguin voice, especially his laugh, was paying homage to the late great Burgess Meredith, who played Penguin in the 1960s Adam West Batman series.
Lol I like the penguin too, but is it just me or does he look different in this movie, in the tv show for example episode 2 season 1 he was much father and his face wasn’t as weird, anyway I preferred that version of penguin much more, and if there’s something else I should change about him I would stop him from saying “tweeth tweeth” that shit is just annoying for some reason
@@Jackie-McCann I mean, the laugh, okay, but MOST of the performance sounds less like an impression of either Meredith on that show (definitely not) or even DeVito (closer, but still a little off if that's what he's going for) and more like he's about to complain about cheap walk cycles. And, understand, I'm someone who finds some bits of Kenny's Penguin (especially the Kabuki twins/the whole "kind of a weeb" angle) pretty fun twists on the idea of a "delusions of eloquence" villain, even if the Paul Williams version is still king.
Nice to meet another fan of this version of Joker, who I agree is criminally underrated. I always loved his unique design, and Kevin Michael Richardson did a great job voicing him. You can just tell he was having a lot of fun with the role.
It's good to know that someone else likes this version of the Joker. While he's not as good as the BTAS Joker, he still has a very unique design and Kevin Michael Richardson really did good job with his deep yet whimsical voice. Also, vampire Joker was definitely the best thing in the movie.
+Bobsheaux hey Bob I'd like to ask if you would consider reviewing The Batman series I want to know your opinions on some of the other changes they made like giant mutant Killer Moth
Bobsheaux In the Hammer Horror Dracula series, all he needed was blood to be revived. At the start of Scars of Dracula, he was resurrected inside a church with a drop of blood
@@Bobsheaux 12:29-12:32 I see not much in Batman mask of the phantasm but in Batman returns yes it does have that sorta thing but it's in the bad way compare to the Batman vs dracula
This movie creates their own version of Dracula, just as many, many movies do. Dracula never had a wife in Bram Stoker's novel, nor was he killed by a stake to the heart. So why should all of his restrictions be the same as the novel in this movie?
honestly i dont hate tom kenny as a person, i met him once and he was nice, signed my sisters spoungebob barbie doll, but what i hate is his voice acting resume, just about everyone he voiced managed to piss me off somehow
Not to mention other characters like Professor Sumdac in Transformers Animated, Eduardo in Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, Scout Master Lumpus & Sliinkman in Camp Lazlo, Dr. Two-Brains in Word Girl, and Gibson in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go. Dude has lots of range than just sounding like SpongeBob
I think it's kinda funny that Bruce is supposed to be scared of bats in some incarnations, so I'm just picturing him screaming like a little girl when Dracula goes into bat form.
There's a scene in the movie in which I think Vicki mentions Budapest but that city is not in Transylvania, it is in Hungary...in fact it is Hungary's capital city. The writers might have been referring to Bucharest which is the capital of Romania but Bucharest is also not in Transylvania. Transylvania is a far-away province in Romania with its own distinct culture and people...in fact it used to be part of the Hungarian kingdom.
You're not supposed to wear shoes or gloves while doing parkour because you need to have a sense for texture. A good example I once read in a forum was a thin layer of polin on a surface, because the guy wasn't wearing gloves he was able to pick up on it and adjust his grip to compensate, but if he had been wearing gloves he probably would be dead, the same applies to feet for exactly the same reasons, but also your feet have a greater ability to conform and grip without shoes on. The Joker's fingerless gloves and shoes aren't a statement about how little he cares about getting caught or a sign of how batshit he is (no pun intended), but a functional choice that the writers/artists probably took into consideration when developing this version of the character.
I watched this film as a Dracula movie, more than a Batman movie. It touched upon all the vampire tropes perfectly. Even if Dracula looks like Ra's al Ghul, they wanted to evoke a sense of Christopher Lee or Bela Lugosi when he was onscreen. I'm content in how they attempted that.
Great review. I liked the show when I was a kid and I REALLY thought that Batman vs Dracula was an awesome idea. Also... HOW COULD YOU HATE SPONGEBOB!?!
@@ellnats Yes I did. I watched the ENTIRE show and loved it. It was very different compared to the 90s cartoon and was pretty bold. A lot of stuff in it was very frightening to young kids, even creeped me out when I was that young, and I will still love this show even years after it was released.
This is perfect for Halloween. There was also a trilogy of Batman Elsewords books called "Red Rain", "Bloodstorm", and "Crimson Mist" which involved Batman fighting Dracula and in order to defeat him had to become a vampire as well.
As good as it was, I would like an actual adaptation of the Vampire Batman stories. Trouble is that it's far more violent and bloodier than this, especially the third and final story: Crimson Mist (aka Batman Kills the DC Universe). And I highly doubt DC would want an M-rated/18 animated film anytime soon. But since they're working Gotham By Gaslight, there's always a chance DC might adapt other Elseworlds stories.
Well to be fair, this direct to DVD is a bit interesting than the other Kids Vampire flick, so yeah I don't understand the hate with The Batman. I thought it was fine. Except: They got the history of Vlad wrong, but still that seems to be the reoccurring theme with Dracula related films, so for this flick, I'll be a little forgiving...Because fuck it! Anyone who can make a Vampiric Joker, and say they drink blood, then I think they're awesome!
Hey Bob you mentioned that Penguin was one of the problems that you found with The Batman but , what were the other problems that you had? and how well do you think the other villian's were treated? Also I agree the Joker in this great, especially his unique design.
Actually in a lot of vampire fiction Dracula is exempt from some of the more peripheral weaknesses, seeing as he's often considered the first of all vampires (depending on myth since certain Biblical figures like Lilith (from Judaism) and even Judas Iscariot are sometimes associated with vampires among other monsters), meaning he's often considered the most powerful and therefore lacks certain weaknesses.
This is actually my favorite batman movie animation is great also the series of it was pretty good it's basically an updated version of the 90's version

I think that BTB was an okay show. Not bad, just okay. I didn't really like that despite being a "batman" show, the several episodes I saw focused more on Alfred and Kitana, who are both great characters, don't get me wrong on that point. To me, TB was just more fun to watch, I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe my opinion of BTB is lower because it was one of the shows which replaced the really awesome Green Lantern series and Young Justice (the other replacement show being Teen Titans Go! and the less I say about that, the better). TB has problems, there is no denying that, but I personally found it more interesting than BTB, and again like it was said already "To each his own".
AAH MY FAVOURITE BATMAN SHOOOW, aw man Vampire Joker was the SHIIIITTTT. Oh and those creepy ass bird lady twins penguin always had with him, Ragdoll, Fireflies design, this Batman show was my absolute favourite growing up, i always stopped everything i was doing to watch an episode,
I actually remember watching this movie every few nights with my sisters for our “sleepovers”. The funny thing is, for years I thought this was the Batman TAS Batman as I think we also watched Batman Sub-Zero and the movies melded in my child mind. I didn’t even know this was the movie until the montage of Batman trying to find a cure, as that scene led to an argument with my dad about whether or not it would hurt to have blood drawn because I tried to use that montage as evidence for my case.
As far as I can tell, the batwave monitors police bands and coordinates the various automated bat vehicles/tools. It doesn’t monitor everything the way that the cell phone system does, from what I can tell.
9:12 has it occurred to you that Bruce is 12? Another question, did it also occur to you that what ever was on the computer got his father killed? Bruce wasn't, at that point, ready to take this on, Alfred in this wouldn't destroy it because Bruce is Batman, whereas he's very likely to get himself killed doing this. In that very season, Bruce was also; Kidnapped; attacked in his house multiple times; had to go on an espionage mission in Arkham to save his friend; encountered a man who was brought back from the dead; met a woman who had a bird claw for a hand; could've been frozen to death; had to join in with rescuing that same woman from a prison transport truck; and several other things that likely had something to do with his investigation. And that's just season 2.
So... Is Bram Stoker’s Dracula canon in this world? Wait, in the book he only lost his powers in sunlight, he wasn’t burned... Interestingly, the sunlight thing was added in the German Silent Film Nosferatu, I guess because because a stake to the heart would be too graphic for 1922.
I actually love the fact penguin is a big guy but can do big stunts and gymnastics. Also THE BATARANGS NO ALL OF BATMANS TECH WITH THAT BLUE LIGHT??? I MEAN CMON THATS COOL AFFFF

The Batman Was and is my favorite batman show! It's so nostalgic for me since I grew up with the series since season 1!!! And I continued to watch it live on tv for years until it ended!
and who perchance is Dracula trying to revive? Carmilla, you know the originated the LESBIAN Vampire trope. I guess this movie implies Carmilla was a bisexual vampire? Plus I like how Vickie doesn't scream her head off in the climax she just runs and takes cover no prompting necessary. It's refreshing to see a damsel in distress who doesn't scream her head off when in danger.
2:54 Probably because one of these batman movies fell after the Patriot Act. 18:21 considering that the 'cause' of the missing victims was hypnosis, and The Penguin was found in roughly the same state (minus some neckholes and blood loss), I'm surprised the Mad Hatter wasn't blamed. I mean, granted, it's not like a bunch of hats were found, but still.
+Bobsheaux Well at least he showed up in the Arkham series. Granted, they're games...but his representation is magnificent! And, taking Suicide Squad into consideration, it might be interesting to see that one major arc he was in as a movie. (Can't remember the name...) I mean, he's gotten virtually everyone under his control at one point or another throughout the bat-verses.
The thing I have against fiction that involves Dracula is well... in the original book he shows up in.... he can't be killed by the sun. The sun just makes him a normal human with immense strength and I think he retains the ability to turn into mist
I think this movie creates its own version of Dracula. The original Dracula had no aversion to sunlight but the ending of the movie clearly shows otherwise.
6:26 hmmm, interesting. Dracula’s castle in this film definitely resembles Dracula’s castle from Castlevania. Especially with the long spires on top of the cliffs with the full moon & blood red skies.
I actually liked The Batman, I was surprised so many people disliked it. Sure the designs for Joker and Bruce Wayne were a bit... odd but I liked the style and it had a cool soundtrack. The fights in this movie were pretty intense though. I thought you were going to rip into this one.
This is like a radically extreme Batman if it was released in the 1993. I think Batman Unlimited is the closest thing to The Batman without being radically extreme.
10:24 no, because If he did need to ask permission if he could come in. Anyone could say: no, and slam the door in his face. It’s a dumb weakness and most of the time it’s ignored in other movies. Who in the heck came up with that weakness? If we are going by mythology vampire, he would be weak too -sunlight - garlic - crosses -holy water - running water - stake through the heart - fire. But we the running water is stupid so we can take that out as his weakness and use the other ones. Reason being is that running water kinda ruins the holy water weakness if you could just kill him with regular water. Thats why we ignore and remove that one and why a lot of movies don’t use the running water weakness.
I wished I watched this review earlier. Funny and thoughtful as always, Bob. Especially love the end credits... Joker’s Song by Miracle of Sound is my favorite song from the guy... second favorite being, of course, the recent Welcome to the Family from Resident EVII.
I always thought it was a shame, the Penguin in this show. Penguin's one of my favourite Batman villains, and I honestly think there are too many poor portrayals of him. This show definitely included.
17:43 I’m the Batman. 17:49 they cut off the scene where Dracula burned alive in more than 5 seconds of the Batman vs Dracula 🧛🏻♂️ on 📀, however you can find the extended version of the same movie on max.
THANK YOU for loving "the Batman" Joker. this show needs more credit. BTAS is the best, but actually this show does a few things better (firefly for example)
4:05 What's wrong with Tom Kenny? Granted, he's far from the best Penguin, that right belongs to a tie between Paul Williams of the original animated series and the 60's Burgess Meredith version. After all, you can never have too much Burgess Meredith. But as far as voices for characters goes and considering he was forced to play Spongebob for over a decade now...yeah of course his voice is going to sound somewhat similar with most of what he does.
I know the makers of The batman had plans to do a second movie of The Batman titled The Batman vs. Hush that featured Hush as the villain with Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler and Clayface in the film was planned, however the film was scrapped it make me wonder what we would of got had it happened
When I was a kid this movie was the 2nd scariest movie I ever saw. The scariest movie was the original Poltergeist and both this movie and Poltergeist still scare the shit out of me. Just seeing Joker as a vampire scared me and I was unable to sleep. I'm shuddering just typing this comment.
I can remember not really liking this series, but I did love this movie (mainly because I've always been batty for Dracula). Also anybody else think Drac in this film looks a little bit like Ra's Al Ghul? 12:20 I mean its kinda his own fault for dressing like a damn vampire.

I honestly loved Batman vs Dracula
Alternative title for this movie:
Battle of the Bats
As far as I can tell, the batwave monitors police bands and coordinates the various automated bat vehicles/tools. It doesn’t monitor everything the way that the cell phone system does, from what I can tell.
It makes me laugh so hard that the penguin sounds like the ice king in this!
I'd love to see a review on Batmam: Bad Blood
Just do The Room review already! It's a horror for all life!
Anyway, how's your sex life?
I think this Alfred is the only Alistair Duncan voiced character who I don't want to rip their heart out of.
I'd totally replace Affleck with Bobsheaux for Batman, given half the chance. Who's with me?
+NumberNegativeZero I'd rather Bobsheaux replace Leto!
+Raven Fox Audio Either one is good. lol
+Bobsheaux No no no...Affleck MIGHT pull off Batman. Leto doesn't have a snowball's chance in HELL of being a credible Joker. They need you, baby!
@@RavenFoxAudio Affleck did nothing good for Batman or Bruce Wayne
I actually love the fact penguin is a big guy but can do big stunts and gymnastics. Also THE BATARANGS NO ALL OF BATMANS TECH WITH THAT BLUE LIGHT??? I MEAN CMON THATS COOL AFFFF
Hey Bob I Don't Know If You'll See This, But i Just Wanted To say, that i love your videos, and your one of my favorite reviews on RUclips, You Are One Of My Insperations For Me To Review Movies On RUclips, You Always Put A Smile On My Face, Even On My Bad, Days But Anyway i'll don't know if you'll see this, but if you do, thanks and have a great day ;)
Colton
The best Tom Kenney voice is the Jelly Bean King from Rick and Morty.
The Batman
Was and is my favorite batman show!
It's so nostalgic for me since I grew up with the series since season 1!!!
And I continued to watch it live on tv for years until it ended!
Forget information from anime or son of dracula, isn't he world's greatest detective? He should easily know that Alucard is Dracula backwards
and who perchance is Dracula trying to revive? Carmilla, you know the originated the LESBIAN Vampire trope. I guess this movie implies Carmilla was a bisexual vampire? Plus I like how Vickie doesn't scream her head off in the climax she just runs and takes cover no prompting necessary. It's refreshing to see a damsel in distress who doesn't scream her head off when in danger.
And I'm the only one who loves The Penguin in this series.... ;_;
no your not! :)
+Racheal The Girl Robin ;u;
Waddle Dee pop WOW U REPLIED FAST

I mean, the coffin is probably made out of wood from his homeland.
So they unintentionally sent him off with something from his homeland.
+Atem Andrew Oh, the Mad Hatter... When will we get to see HIM in a movie?
+Bobsheaux Well at least he showed up in the Arkham series. Granted, they're games...but his representation is magnificent!
And, taking Suicide Squad into consideration, it might be interesting to see that one major arc he was in as a movie. (Can't remember the name...) I mean, he's gotten virtually everyone under his control at one point or another throughout the bat-verses.
The thing I have against fiction that involves Dracula is well... in the original book he shows up in.... he can't be killed by the sun. The sun just makes him a normal human with immense strength and I think he retains the ability to turn into mist
I like Tom Kenny as the Penguin
What song is this at the end?
I forgot I saw this movie. It creeped me out when I was a kid
What did SpongeBob ever do to you?
I thought you were going to rip into this one.
is it me or does this Dracula look more like Ra's Al Ghul?
Now that you mention it... Yeah, he does look quite a bit like Ra's.
He looks a little bit like Ra's al Ghul. How old were you when you watched it in 2005?
This is like a radically extreme Batman if it was released in the 1993. I think Batman Unlimited is the closest thing to The Batman without being radically extreme.
A little piece of trivia, there was also an Alucard from the Castlevania series.
Is it me or is Arkham too dangerously close to Gotham?
It is unfortunately
10:24 no, because If he did need to ask permission if he could come in. Anyone could say: no, and slam the door in his face. It’s a dumb weakness and most of the time it’s ignored in other movies. Who in the heck came up with that weakness? If we are going by mythology vampire, he would be weak too
-sunlight
- garlic
- crosses
-holy water
- running water
- stake through the heart
- fire.
Peter Stormare should do the voice of Loxias crown also known as hunger and Robert Englund should do the voice of Victor Adam slaughter
This film is underrated!
Happy October everyone! It has begun and the doorway to the other world is opening
+Bobsheaux Ya know, something is just charming about kevin michael richardson as the joker
Omg spongebob is the penguin!
17:40 THAT was awesome
I know the makers of The batman had plans to do a second movie of The Batman titled The Batman vs. Hush that featured Hush as the villain with Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler and Clayface in the film was planned, however the film was scrapped it make me wonder what we would of got had it happened
+comic book reviewer Hush was also going to appear in an episode of The Batman, but DC didn't like the idea for some reason.
+lightyearpig12 I guess They thought Hush would be to dark for The batman or something
Kinda wish we got a “I’m Batman I am vengeance I am THE NIGHT AND YOUR dust” because Dracula stuck in Batman’s shadow is batman being the night
Nice "Manos, the Hands of Fate" reference.
I can remember not really liking this series, but I did love this movie (mainly because I've always been batty for Dracula). Also anybody else think Drac in this film looks a little bit like Ra's Al Ghul?
12:20 I mean its kinda his own fault for dressing like a damn vampire.
