Thanks for answering. I got the same problem in lego batman 3 and marvel super heroes. In the level I can use the L1 button to switch to 4 other characters. But the characters I need to complete the level I have to use the traingle button and choose from the character list a lot.In other lego games I do not have that problem. (englisch is not my language)
Different parts give different abilities.. you'll need to fuck around yourself but things like Quicksilver's face will give the super speed, Tony Stark's face with give the flight/missiles, etc of Iron Man. (Same as the helmet will do..)
Video is fake, spliced with other vids. At the end it says 10 minikits collected. But if you watch the whole thing it only shows 7 or 8. Fake bull crap, lol.
This is the first time I've seen in a LEGO game where a minikit isn't picked up by the Minikit Detector red brick

I don't know why you would only get 2 in free play. You sure you aren't in story mode?
