Thanks so much, I'm slowly learning how to do different video styles. Short videos seem to play best. But sometimes you just need a long video as well :)
Very interesting and enjoyable Darrell. I go by colour myself, mainly as I like to take a large draw or two out and pull the parts I need from them... But also, sorting them out into individual bricks fills me with terror.
That was a great video. I just became a collector, enthusiast, or hobbyist & have maybe a 1/8 of what you have and I get overwhelmed at times while sorting and naming legos. I enjoyed it. I noticed that whatever works best for you is the best.
This is the video I've definitely been waiting for. Very impressive! I'm always on the search for more used Legos so I can organize into narrower categories.
Although I don't have as much Lego parts as you have, but the parts I do have I'm storing almost the same way. I know some people also sort it by color, but if I do that I'm still searching every time to the correct part. So as I also sort it by part it is much easier to find the correct part in the correct bin. finding the correct color is then no problem anymore
Is a good help for get ideas for stock the bricks, now I have better ideas with mines in the future, I still have over 30 pound in Ziploc bags because I don't have the space for my lots

You did a good job !! the organization of your parts collection is very well-arranged and well-sorted !! :-) I would like to give a suggestion/idea, if you are interested. I saw that you have a lot of Knights and Pirates stuff (Lego) such as minifigures, weapons, guns, canons, etc. So I thought it would be a nice idea, if you could build a lovely History Museum where you can display your weapons and figures. You could build different sections or split the museum in the 4 history eras (Antquity, Middle Age,...)... [> these are only suggestions :-)] You can decide how do you form it ;-) In any case, it would be a nice way to use some weapons and Knights minifig. in your awesome Lego City. Maybe a project for the future ;-) Kind regards from Belgium ! :-)
OK, this is the first video of yours I've ever watched, and our sorting systems are uncannily similar. And it's funny because you call the parts the same things I do (aka toilet seats lol) - maybe that's what everyone calls them! I've recently gone less granular because the sorting was a nightmare. And you have WAY more pieces than I do. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of parts, but you've got me beat by a long shot. Thanks for sharing your system.
I enjoyed every minute of it so not sure why you kept apologising :). I also learned a thing. For some reason I never actually realised the difference between the black and grey tech pins before. So thanks for that! :D
I just started organizing my bricks and I'm finding that I sort very similar to you. Lol my parts collection isn't nearly as large as yours but still in a smaller scale it's very similar! It must be because we're electricians and my cart always has to be perfect with my couplings, connectors, hardware 1/4", 3/8", then caddy clips and pins for my shooter etc.etc. lol. Love it! Thanks for sharing your organization skills! Definitely going to save this video to come back to time to time. A lot of awesome tips I'm taking from this video!
Great video. My Lego organization is very similar and you even gave me ideas on where to group "stragglers" that don't look like they belong in any other group. Thank you.
Very inspiring, thanks for sharing! I’m just getting started on my storage system and would like to know how you decided on the type of drawers. -Do you prefer deep over wide drawers? -Any différence, other than size, between the 3 drawer units with no gap between drawers and those that have gaps (white support separating each drawers)? Strength? Stacking limitations? No gaps appear to offer denser storage space. -Did you ever consider drawers with separators? -Did you ever consider hardware storage type units with 20 to 60 drawers (often used for nuts and bolts)? I see some that use that and then have overflow storage. -Would you keep your method if you had to start from scratch? Thanks again!
I enjoy your videos and watch almost all of your new content. I also have a very large collection some from the 80's as well. I am going to do a similar sorting style to yours because I hope to start traveling to the conventions in the future and would like to be able to build mocs to display and find things easily. I don't really like the Technic parts very much but I have noticed that they seem to accumulate very fast. I am probably going to just sort them all together because I don't really use them in my style of building
Ok I like the video , I’ve got a new MOC and thanks for already checking it out ,inspired by one of your MOCs ,although not as good .enjoyed the video, interesting to see what you have, and that 1x1 round draw . Thanks again for your amazing content,ELLIOTSLEGOBRICKS
31:20 there's a difference ?! I never knew! In your video I'm not seeing a place for antennas - like the 1980's era TV antenna - nor for the diagonal windows from that same era?
I don’t have alot of money to buy storage drawers and I need to save as much space as possible so I stack my bricks and store my made up rods of same size same color bricks on their sides with other made up rods:.. plus it’s easy to see how many I have and if I need 18 bricks of one kind, I just count 18 and snap off that amount from the main rod and put the rest of the rod back to n the tub with the other rods. Edit: I just noticed you have some of your light blue 1x2 bricks stored in a stacked rod just laying in there. But that’s how all my bricks are stored.
You have a lot of brick! I can’t find a lot of stuff. I’ll get organized eventually. Haha. I actually shot a similar video this morning. Yours is better!!
Hey Bevins Bricks, I have about 55,000 parts, with half built into sets or Mocs. Would it be best to keep them sorted by color? Don't have huge collections of single pieces.
It’s very interesting to see how you sort your LEGO! In my experience you always end up with a large bin of ‘Misc’ :-D I really like how you’ve mixed sorting by colors, shapes and function - very cool! I never thought about storing all 1xsomething of the same color together! That’s a pretty good idea I think! Do you keep a ledger or something? Or do you just know where everything is? Thanks for sharing this and keep up the good work!
Great video! How big is your Lego room? I have about half as many legos as you, but I get more all the time, so I'm gonna need to find a bigger room to sort them in.
Happy days.. my setup is very similar to yours with how we separate most of it ive just not got the quantity you have yet! Appreciate the reply again too man!!
When do you buy bricks? Do you see a cool piece and buy it or buy as you’re building something and order the right piece/pieces? I’m mainly just curious 😂
Bevins Bricks I actually enjoy sorting, perhaps I'm just weird! A similar video would take me about 5 minutes, as I have only a fraction of your quantities! 😉
