There is a couple that travels and live on their horses year-round. Also, some people live every summer hiking the continental divides; I Love your anthropology work.
Thank You, Peter Awesome what you do.
You fucking rock peter. I love that you did this.
Where's the link for that center that's trying to build?
Peter, where is the information on the horse and community center those men want to build?
Wow, Joshua is going places. “The streets raised us but the horses saved us” and he’s looking at Peter in the eye when speaking to him. Great to see our youth being so respectful
Exactly, very confident and respectful kid.
That lil dork ain’t from the streets 😂
man he was raised in a 3 story house
I was blown away.
What part of Compton is this ?
youre the only person doing this who understands and respect our mexican american culture. you show the parts alot of content creators ignore because it doesnt get the views. thank you peter for representing us with respect and love. youre always invited to the carne asadas!
man that is cool dude , riding the horses in town , I think its amazing , I think its great that they are Americans but they speak perfect Spanish , I guess its been passed down from generation to the next generation , I'm still working on my Spanish and Arabic , I'm hoping by the end of the year I can speak fluent Arabic and Spanish than I want to want to learn Russian , but if you speak English , than Spanish is much easier to learn , I might try and learn French , if you already speak Spanish and English than French is a lot easier
Please shut up about "respect".
@ClvrSwine please shut up You. Thanks
Huh
Peter respects everyone everywhere he goes
Those guys were raised right. They all are intelligent and well spoken. Great attitude's. I wish I had teachers like that growing up.
Proud to say that they are My neighbors😊
@@vivianacoria9504 awesome neighbors!
I'm white guy who went to an all-white high school and I would prefer any of these horse dudes as my teachers --- they seem to care more than teachers I had
The stables look horrendous and outdated there’s no grass nowhere for the horses or the other animals to grass
It’s disgusting praising people like that
@@N0N4M30 I see. I don’t know anything about horses
Wasn't aware of these Compton Cowboys , I only knew of the Black Compton Cowboys.
The Compton Cowboys are a group of friends from childhood who use horseback riding and equestrian culture to provide a positive influence on inner-city youth, and to combat negative stereotypes about African-Americans in the Los Angeles-area city of Compton.
Nice to hear Joshua speak so wisely at a young age. That's a big honor to take part in the youth program at Chris Cox's ranch in Wyoming. He is a very famous horseman and horse trainer, mainly of Quarter Horses. He has won a number of competitions and has had television programs on RFDTV and the Cowboy Channel.
I'm not from Compton, but I grew up in the South Bay and remember all the dairies and horse stables that used to exist down there in cities like Torrance, Gardena, etc. I had horses when I was a child growing up in that area, and I am glad to see that the Compton Cowboys are still carrying on that tradition. When I tell people there were stables down there, they just can't imagine horses in Los Angeles. Brings back good memories❤
hi there
Love South Bay Gardena Torrance Redondo Beach I used to ride horse back up Palos Verdes trails still some horse stables in Figueroa and El Segundo Blvd in Gardena don't recall if belongs to police horse
Gardena dept or Compton .

I'm really impressed! I live in Wyoming in a tiny town filled with ranchers. They all look as though they belong out here but i'm proud of what they are doing. Nothing but Love from a DUDE out In Eastern Wyoming!
I never knew this lifestyle existed right in Compton. That’s amazing! And that little cowboy Josh is going to go places. He’s wise beyond his years and he’s got a strong work ethic. That’s a beautiful thing.
Yes it is. I once talked to a 10 year old that was working at his parents’ taco stand. He was so dedicated. I asked him what he wants to be when he grows up. He said “a rancher”. I was so impressed. It turned out his dad is a rancher. The mom runs the taco stand and a catering business. The little boy said he works on the weekends and was saving money to invest in cattle. It’s beautiful to see kids working to make their dreams reality.
I totally agree. He is a bright young man.
There's some Cowboys in the valley and San Dimas as well.
exactly. and VERY uncommon in people of his generation!
Black cowbo y s in Compton now south americsn cowboys, government control lol
Just watched this. I'm a 60 yr. Old Virginian who grew up on a horse farm. I'm not a fan of horses, they're beautiful and powerful, I honor their presence. And to many, they are therapy. "Horse people" are wonderful and connected. If people care for any other species, besides their own, it is a sense of meditation. It keeps you in touch with all of Nature. I hope you guys prosper in your dreams. The east coast is full of horse communities. Wyoming and Montana, bless them, get alot of the Cowboy allcolades, but, its everywhere. Reach out, to communities all over. Horse lovers are everywhere. I'm prayful you get the support you deserve. Back to Nature, regardless where you are. Also, there's a Cowboy community in Philly. Link up. This is beautiful. Good luck.
props to the young boy, Joshua... seeing kids like him give me hope for the next generation. work ethic, learning new languages, truly inspiring to see.
keep it up little bro.
Please make Judges aware to offer community service vs jail days to those that qualify. 200 hours of ranching, and riding would leave an impression.
Yes it would be a great ride 🐎
It would give a purpose to those who may feel like they don’t have one ❤ @EdDeetz GREAT suggestion!
Depending on the crime
Well you go work for free then
@mikepoole2248 that is very true, if the crime is horse theft, then it's probably not a good idea .
Others have said it but I'll say it too, I grew up in the LA area and now live in Phoenix and I've never felt that media accurately portrays the full depth and awesomeness of the Mexican American culture. I don't have any Mexican in me, but I've always loved and felt at home in the unique blend of their culture. You are the exception and really show the true breadth and scope of Mexican Americans, the culture of people I grew up around and have lived around my whole life.
Yes, I also grew up in LA and Peter did a good job showcasing all the cultures in a really great way ❤
We need more kids like Joshua and more parents like Joshua’s parents.
Yes indeed, that's the only hope this country has left!
Amen to that !!
That young gentleman or young cowboy I should say has tremendous potential. He is definitely going far in life. Very respectful and intelligent kid, shows you how he was brought up. Good job to the parents! Nothing but love and respect for my Mexicans and everyone.
Love your content Peter, you are a legend. Keep up the good work brother. Asian & All Race Unity 🙏 ✊
Love and respect from the Chinese Community
These men are great representatives of the Hispanic community. Very inspiring for the younger generation.
Hispanic mis pelotas. Ese estilo se originó en México, por lo tanto, representa a México.

Wow! Young Joshua. Shook your hand. Looked you in the eye. “Nice to meet you, yes sir” The impact statement behind that is amazing. His father is teaching him VERY well for his age
Grew up in Long Beach but went to church in Compton. Drove past these ranches every Sunday. Memories.
I would definitely recommend these type of learning programs for troubled youth than the Government detention homes. The ranching life seems to teach the value of labor but also the means of responsibility becoming a mature individual. If time with my kids were limited due to work I'd send them to Connecting Compton (or similar programs) just to keep their minds occupied by good morals rather than the streets.
Another great content as always Peter!🤙
Mind. BLOWN. You're in Compton with an entire horse culture, just riding them around, and ranches and farms. Crazy!
This is so cool. I moved to LA from the UK 8 years ago and it's communities like this that make me smile often. Awesome work! I'll make a point of visiting asap . Thank you 🙏
LOVED seeing this community and the beautiful people involved. I couldn't believe the homes there are a million!!!!! Those homes would be 100k in Arkansas
First off, I love love LOVE what these guys are doing. I am old now (over-54), but I have owned and trained horses as a hobby for thirty years. One of my big dreams when I was in my 20's and 30's while living in Wyoming, was to someday own a place where inner city kids could come live and work and decompress in summer. (Glad to hear Chris Cox is taking on some youngsters!) I never did get that dream ranch on my nurse's salary, but in my own little way and in my own little arena we've been giving community kids free riding and horsemanship lessons.
Second, one of these guys' horses looked to have DSLD (dropped fetlock) on one foreleg when I watched it loping (but not when standing/walking). It was obvious enough I cringed. I don't want to call them out, but they might want to get a professional opinion. Once fetlocks drop you have three options: 1.) ride the horse until it is so lame and in pain that you take it to auction where it will be bought by a kill-buyer and sent to Mexico or Canada for slaughter 2.) Put it out to pasture as a retiree and maybe use as a teaching horse for very little kids to learn how to groom and saddle (not ride) 3.) Have a vet euthanize the poor horse.
Third, these guys might really love a song by Dave Stamey called, "The Vaquero Song." They will relate to the history, especially in California. ruclips.net/video/zuPCmEn5l9g/видео.html
Total respect to the Hispanics who moved into Compton and south central LA in the last two decades, as they have improved the economy, brought in positive energy and values and made it a safer place.
Bullshit!
I did not know this community existed within the greater Los Angeles area. I'm very into horses and the ranching/rodeo lifestyle so this was awesome to learn about! Thank you for featuring!
Avocado heights too
Keep em coming Peter! Big ups to the Connecting Compton for their community work. Much luv! 🇺🇸🇦🇸🇼🇸🇲🇽
Wow! This was so amazing!! I reside in a neighboring city, I have seen the Compton Cowboys and their horses, but didn’t know their story until now. Thank you Peter for another amazing video 💜
Michelle - u in SAG ?
Thank you for connecting the world with Compton. These amazing gentlemen and others like Compton Cowboys show the real love of Comptonites and their love or family, neighbors, people and horses.
I love that awesome kid, Josh! His parents are doing a wonderful job on raising their son 😊
What a great group of citizens of compton who are cowboys and want the community to have an equestrian center would be awesome wish them much success I grew up in Hollywood never knew about this
Thank you Peter for your video. I appreciate how you show respect and humility when interviewing all the people of different cultures. These folks in return respond so well to you. Thank you for showing us that even though we may appear different on the outside, on the inside we all want the same thing: raise our families, do work that we love, contribute to our community, and just get along with each other, no matter what our cultural traditions may be!😊❤
It's not surprising! In the past,Compton was mainly "agriculture" for years and also predominantly "white".
As it was mentioned about Kevin Costner, James Coburn was from Compton. Even President H.W. Bush lived in Compton for a short time.
Compton also used to host a country music show called Town Hall Party, and many famous musicians, such as Tex Ritter, Johnny Cash, Pasty Cline, etc..played at the venue. It was aired on radio and television.
Josh is a amazing kid so refreshing to see his positivity and energy! What a role model for his generation
I wait for these videos, I am always happy to see one drop.
Thanks to all of you folks who put these windows to culture and people together that I would otherwise never see,
I'm so happy to get these gifts of knowledge.
I stayed with a family in Compton who had originally migrated there from El Salvador and they were the most kindest and humble people ever. The man of the house took my wife and I and our daughter and my best friend on one of the greatest tours of South Central and we ate at San Pedro at a sea food restaurant that was out of this world. I'll never forget that time and I will always have deep respect for the family that took care of us for a while until we could get back home. I always heard horror stories about how dangerous South Central was and if you are white you better not go there but I walked all over the place and interacted with tons of people there and I never felt scared at all. My opinion is you can find trouble anywhere if you are looking for it but if you are respectful and not act a fool then you will be fine just about anywhere you go.
LOL! All Hat! No Cattle! What we used to say when I was wrk'in the chutes in the PRCA, they are want to be's!
San Pedro fish market!
Just be careful … living and coming to Reseda since 1994…
My babies live there ,?we prospered there !!!!
AND ARE STILL THERE AND WILL BE THERE !!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
why would someone call the city about some guy riding a horse , dude if someone wants to ride a horse than its fine , as long as they don't go on any busy road or on the highway its fine , its not any more dangerous than a car , in fact a car is much more dangerous
ya I think its great that they are riding horses , its a lot cooler than riding a car , keep it up man , I don't see any issue with people riding a horse in town but about the poop , that might create some problems , that is the only issue , its not as dirty as dog poop but that issue needs to be seriously looked into , people are going to complain ,
This was great - I loved it! It's so interesting that these men aren't just horsemen. they're also teachers. Bottom line: great Americans.
There is something about horses that people generally respect. I have a daughter with autism and it was horses that helped bring her spirit out to connect with other people. This is truly fantastic. Thank you to the Compton Cowboys who showed us insight into their wonderful community. My husband’s from LA and he was blown away by the work you are doing. You need a celebrity endorser like Kevin Costner to get the city to listen. I hope he steps up to the plate for y’all!
This was so touching, being a horse owner myself in Michigan, this story brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you ❤
Tears huh

The young kids is going to be some thing big in life. He is on the right track. Many blessings to all of those in this video.
After following Peter's channel over the years I've come to realize how much he loves Cowboys of all regions and all races! He needs to go to Norco next!
This was an amazing story! I truly hope that they are able to build their dream and bring people together in the city of Compton.💯💯💯
I love the positive perspective you give on our country. It’s so popular to talk down on the US right now but it still is an amazing country (politics aside of course).
I’m a horse girl in the Midwest and it’s really cool seeing these guys and the things we relate and differ on. I’d love to ride with them some time!
You always have the best videos and messages Peter! Much love to my fellow teachers, los caballeros! That young man was very inspiring, they all are, but, always a soft spot in the heart for the kids!
After a super busy week of working, watching your videos on the weekends feels just as relaxing/good as being on vacation!
I wish we could get the Compton political folks to get on board and get that equestrian experience up and running. I would also love to see some of the kids that belong to the different gang members that Peter has already introduced us to, those kids would probably love the horses. People have no idea how perceptive horses can be, that's why they work so well with at risk kids. I wish someone could contact Kevin C and get him to move mountains and get this party started. This is a fantastic video. Thank you for opening all of our eyes and hearts.
Yes. Unfortunately, they don’t because programs like this and similar WORK, and they need subsections of people who are “troubled” to funnel there money through those programs.
What an incredible group of people! Your camera shows so much more than can be found in most media spaces. Thanks for the truth if your talent!
Being a horse owner myself I love this!! 👏🏽👏🏽❤️
The horse thing truly is the antidote for pent up energy. Transformed into mellow and good. I have never been comfortable in Los Angeles, but I have tried. Now, what you show us here...that works. Really wise. Horses are a therapy I'm just dying for...back to my roots in Latin America riding horses again. That's about tops on my short bucket list. And to have a trained house cat again too. Thanks again.
There are so many kids that come from first-generation mexican families that have ranching backgrounds & are not into it. But it's amazing to Joshua doing the opposite.
Compton cowboys? Omg! haha wow! 🤠
Another amazing video Peter! I love what you do and look forward to new videos every week! You're awesome brother! God bless and much love from Alabama!

Wow! Cowboys in Compton... 🤯 I would have never though... Peter, your content is amazing!! What I take from this and from watching your previous cowboy series is that it doesn’t matter if they are from Montana or Compton, cowboys in general, are generally great people, down to earth, humble, helpful and friendly. I’d love to know more about the horses (breeds, care/maintenance, training, etc.) and where, how, why the “cowboys “ learned to ride and love being cowboys? What do theses guys/girls do for a living outside of the city ranch life? Everything about this rings so much joy to my heart. Horses are THE. BEST. THERAPY!!!!!

Let’s help these cowboys being their equestrian plans come true. I love what they are doing. Thanks Peter for the good content you being to your viewers. ❤
It was a bit shock when my friend brought me to backyard in Compton and he milked me some warm milk from a real cow with hot chocolate mix. The best ever. Big yes- 18 acres for horses, cows, gardening and everything young people need to learn and appreciate. Hollywood Race Park’s closed for new Rams stadium, let’s give something back!
Love it. Reminds me of Concrete Cowboy and the riders in Philly. They have videos on RUclips, for anyone who wants to see more. Peter, you gotta do a video with them!
Thank you for shedding light on this endeavor. We need more creative upbringing projects like this in communities around the world.
