I went to basic in fort jackson May 24, 2016 and it was actually really fun at most points. My DS always told his war stories and at the end we had impressions so some of my battle buddies did their impressions on some of the DS’s. I loved my DS until we had to do change drills where we went to formation, then had to run all the way up to our bay and change in a very short amount of time. We had about 3 minutes to run up change into our ocp’s and back down to formation and keep going until they are ready to make you stop. It’s definitely a learning experience that is a wonderful experience!
You only need your personal choice femine hygiene. Pads tampons for your first few weeks there you wont be allowed to go to shoppette until 3rd week. But may have changed. You need that shampoo conditioner soap. You will need 2 change of clothes. Then you will get your uniforms and pts boots and tennis shoes.

At Fort Benning we stayed in red phase LMFAOOOO . The PT standards for females easy i dont know why y’all complain .. yall gonna really hate the new pt test coming out cause that isnt gender based . but if you do some how still fail the last one they will send you to “ fat camp “ and they will give you 8 trys to pass or they will drop you . Its really not that hard when they smoke you just do the pushups to standards i seen dudes not do them to standards and end up failing they pt . Pt should be the last thing y’all worried about they will HELP you they don’t expect people to be fucking rambo or pt master . the biggest shock is getting used to being away from family etc . When you graduate you will look back on it and want to do it all again because bct really is kind of fun at the end of the day it’s definitely a great experience youll look back on and miss

I made a journal girl, I did it almost every night or every two nights depending on if I had time but yea they give you a personal hour to write letters and after that I wrote in my book to my boyfriend and he wrote in his book back at home and when we seen each other for graduation we switched books. Of course I had way more in mine but yes definitely bring a journal just make sure not to make it to obvious when they’re going through your stuff.. write home addresses and numbers in the first couple of pages and tell them it’s for contacts and they’ll let you keep it

Yanna Smith Bring your hair stuff, like brush gel and stuff but not to much cause they could make you throw it away but you would mostly need it for the week in reception, they pretty much make you buy everything you need while your there. Put your name on EVERYTHING esp your pt uniform cause ppl steal that like candy & buy combo locks! Like 2, they don't have to be expensive .. ummmm I think that's it. Are we able to use gel? Because I have very thick and poofy hair so pulling it back without slicking it will not help. Also are we able to have puns? Or do we need buns
you do whatever works, you can have either or but just be fast with whatever you do. In basic you wont have time to put on a scarf and all that plus it pointless because your going to be sweating all day so if they let you, braids or twist (not weave )is the easiest and fastest for basic. I dont suggest weave because its going to smell after a while of sweating so much plus when they size you for head gear you would want it to be your actual headsize.

Melanated & Proud december will make my 4th year since i signed my contract, basic wasn’t that bad BUT get yourself used to running before you go, take everything with a grain of salt and just stay to yourself . as long as you stay out the way and even meet some good ppl, it goes by fast

I was in the Army on Active duty back in 09 right as Obama got in I was in Maryland at AIT on Aberdeen Proving Grounds then once I graduated I shipped straight to South Korea to my first duty station I loved it and now in 2019 I'm going back in on Active Duty and remember y'all are not "Ladies" y'all are "Female Soldiers"
I didn't finish paperwork when I didn't feel comfortable(I freaked out) being half naked for someone I didn't know and wasn't ready to leave family. That's when I knew I still needed to grow a bit. I still wish for the experience though.
I've been watching video q&a's from women in the army and this was the best one by far! This has really helped a lot because all I've really talked to were recruiters. I did have some questions in addition. How can you find out the number of situps and push-ups and the time for the 2 mile run I need to meet to past the PT test. Also, do you know any men or women in the multimedia illustrator job (do they like it)?
Sunrain Bowshine you can look up the standards on google for the army pt test because they’re are different standards for various age groups. And yes of course lol I’m a illustrator so I went to school with plenty males and females who are 25M.

Yes you can do a few things to your face for graduation, I don't remember about makeup because I don't wear it but possibly.

Are we able to use gel? Because I have very thick and poofy hair so pulling it back without slicking it will not help. Also are we able to have puns? Or do we need buns
you do whatever works, you can have either or but just be fast with whatever you do. In basic you wont have time to put on a scarf and all that plus it pointless because your going to be sweating all day so if they let you, braids or twist (not weave )is the easiest and fastest for basic. I dont suggest weave because its going to smell after a while of sweating so much plus when they size you for head gear you would want it to be your actual headsize.

There are rest days but during the week it’s mostly everyday and sometimes twice a day.

Melanated & Proud december will make my 4th year since i signed my contract, basic wasn’t that bad BUT get yourself used to running before you go, take everything with a grain of salt and just stay to yourself . as long as you stay out the way and even meet some good ppl, it goes by fast

I was in the Army on Active duty back in 09 right as Obama got in I was in Maryland at AIT on Aberdeen Proving Grounds then once I graduated I shipped straight to South Korea to my first duty station I loved it and now in 2019 I'm going back in on Active Duty and remember y'all are not "Ladies" y'all are "Female Soldiers"
Is active duty also when your able to leave to go home or is that like a base type of thing
adore leah your on base, you can go home a few times a year tho or if you live close every month
I didn't finish paperwork when I didn't feel comfortable(I freaked out) being half naked for someone I didn't know and wasn't ready to leave family. That's when I knew I still needed to grow a bit. I still wish for the experience though.

I've been watching video q&a's from women in the army and this was the best one by far! This has really helped a lot because all I've really talked to were recruiters. I did have some questions in addition. How can you find out the number of situps and push-ups and the time for the 2 mile run I need to meet to past the PT test. Also, do you know any men or women in the multimedia illustrator job (do they like it)?
Sunrain Bowshine you can look up the standards on google for the army pt test because they’re are different standards for various age groups. And yes of course lol I’m a illustrator so I went to school with plenty males and females who are 25M.

Well, you still have time to go until you're able plus you can join when you're ready. No rush, plus once you get a bit older you're gonna want that space and you're gonna want to see the world!
