Following two failed attempts at conquering Earth, Darkseid and his armies continue conquering other worlds. The Justice League devise a plan to defeat Darkseid by infiltrating Apokolips while leaving the Teen Titans on Earth to defend it. Unbeknownst to them, Darkseid spies on the League through Cyborg. The League are overwhelmed and defeated by Paradooms and a majority of the heroes from both the League and the Titans are killed, while those who survive are placed into Darkseid's slavery.
Two years later, Darkseid has placed devices known as "Reapers" which mine the planet's core. The surviving heroes blame Clark Kent / Superman for leading them into failure. Superman has been forcibly depowered after Darkseid tattooed his chest with liquid kryptonite. He and Raven, who has been struggling to maintain her father Trigon's imprisonment seek John Constantine for a location spell to track Damian Wayne. Although reluctant to help at first, considering himself a coward for fleeing during the initial attack on Darkseid and leaving his lover Zatanna to die, Constantine locates Damian at a League of Assassins outpost. Clark explains to Damian they need him to help free his father Batman from Darkseid's mind control. Damian reluctantly agrees to join the group.
The group travel to Stryker's Island in Metropolis and meet with Clark's wife Lois Lane who has recruited the Suicide Squad to their cause, now led by Harley Quinn. Clark and Lois reveal their plan to infiltrate LexCorp and use a boom tube to return to Apokolips and kill Darkseid. Meanwhile, the remaining heroes launch an attack on the Reapers but are slowly killed battling the Paradooms. At the building, they are confronted by Lex Luthor, who reveals he was working with Lois to gain intel on Darkseid. The group splits into two with Clark, Raven, Constantine, and Etrigan the Demon going to Apokolips and Lois, Luthor, and the Squad remaining at the building to defend the boom tube. Batman informs Darkseid of Luthor's betrayal, prompting Batman to send Paradooms and the newly converted mechanical Furies after the heroes.
Upon arrival, Clark's group is attacked by the Furies, consisting of cybernetic versions of Wonder Woman, Mera, Hawkman, Starfire, and Martian Manhunter. Etrigan is killed by Wonder Woman, but Constantine manages to break her free using her Lasso of Truth. She decides to stay behind to fend off the other Furies as the group head on. They next rescue Flash from a treadmill powering Apokolips; Constantine learns that Flash had altered the timeline in the past. Shortly thereafter, they are confronted by Cyborg, who has been integrated into the planet's network. Constantine frees Cyborg from Darkseid's control, which also frees the remaining Furies as they are about to overpower Wonder Woman. Darkseid orders Batman to kill Damian but he hesitates when he is reminded of his parents' death, which breaks him free of Darkseid's mind control. In a fit of rage, Darkseid tries to kill Batman but is intercepted by Damian, who dies in Batman's arms. His death overwhelms Raven, her sudden emotional instability setting Trigon free. Constantine offers his body as a vessel for Trigon, but he refuses and takes Clark's body instead, purging the kryptonite from his body, restoring his powers, and killing Constantine. Trigon attacks Darkseid. Constantine is briefly visited by Zatanna in the afterlife, who reveals she used a spell to manipulate Constantine to flee back to Earth as part of a contingency plan prepared by Batman. Simultaneously, Raven and Zatanna revive Damian and Constantine.
Back at LexCorp, Lois's team is surrounded by Paradooms, prompting them to initiate a self-destruct. Lois transmits a goodbye message to Apokolips with Cyborg's assistance. Her death shocks Clark back to his senses and frees him from Trigon's possession. Constantine and Raven agree to combine their magic to give Trigon a physical body so he can continue fighting Darkseid. Cyborg reveals his plan to teleport the Paradooms back to Apokolips while dragging the planet into a boom tube with no exit. Cyborg teleports the heroes back to Earth and commences his plan. Relishing the battle, Trigon prevents Darkseid's escape as they are dragged into oblivion.
Despite their victory, Batman reveals one-third of Earth's magma has been drained by the Reapers, the planet's rotation was compromised, and that people will continue to die by the millions before the League can potentially find a solution. As a result, Constantine convinces Flash to run back in time and reset the timeline again despite knowing that the world will not be the same as before. Flash eventually agrees. Damian and Raven share a kiss as they and the remaining heroes watch as the timeline resets as a bright light covers the entire world, leaving their ultimate fate unknown.

The biggest plot hole ever is Darkseid conquering Earth because he wants to use the Earth's molten core and Boom Tubes as a super weapon. Beyond stupid.

*Batman:* "Good plan. we can save more lives by stopping him once and for all. Matter of fact, I should probably take down Joker that way too, it would save a lot of trouble. That's why you're my #1 ally, Supes!"
*Superman:* "Ok, let's rally the troops and kick ass!"
*Batman: "oh ho ho,* woah. Imma stop you right there, sir-punches-a-lot. take 5 and let me have some prep time so we can, you know, *win,* instead of just running in and getting wrecked. also, cyborg and I haven't even updated his Antivirus to the Watchtower make sure we're not being spied on."
Lex Luthor: "He's right. It's literally 2023 and we're still using Anti-ransom software from 2007, we probably need to do some updates and check for spyware."
*Superman:* "oh....oh yeah that's a good point. Not just *rush-in headfirst and leave earth nearly undefended.* Good thing you're here, Bats! Always keeping tabs on our strategy and staying 1 step ahead of our smarter enemies like Braniac and Darkseid. Y'know we should put our heads together like this more often instead of fighting each other all the time, I bet we could get a lot more done."

Even if Darkseid wasn't spying, I still can't get over how weird their original plan was.
They just... invaded Apokolips like that, bringing 1/3 of their squad including Aquaman, Mera and Martian who are super vulnerable to the kind of environment on that planet, no back-up plan, no fancy tricks up their sleeves, everyone just exited the air-crafts and raw dogged the Paradooms till death.
I mean, what are their chances of success on that?
The back up plan was to send Constantine back to Earth with a compulsion spell from Zatanna if shit went south. Pretty shitty contingency plan, but it's all they had.

I’m sure they had a strategy but it only accounted for parademons. Bare in mind only six of them had already beaten darkseid and an army of parademons. By then the JL had tripled in size. They weren’t prepared to face on army of doomsdays, though. The plan fell apart because they expected parademons, not paradooms.
I always love that Cyborg made sure Shazam got out, he's the only one that knows Billy is just a child and wasn't gonna let him die here

Invading darksied planet was one of the biggest mistakes Superman has ever made

One of my main gripes with this plan is that Batman would have never in a million years thought that it was a good idea.
it *was* a good idea, just poorly executed.
if they used their supers the right way, set up an attack plan, left a contingency plan for earth to still be well-defended, and generally covered bases, taking down Apokolips once and for all could have been a great idea.
It would have saved them the trouble of waiting around for Darkseid to attack, inflict massive loss-of-life and destruction, and then letting him escape to try again next year.

This was probably one of the most brutal animated movies to exist. I think everyone who watched it the first time felt completely shocked. Especially how bad Starfire got it.

In the original, it is Billy who messed up since he let Godfrey escape with Damian and that crystal that belongs to Darkseid that could revive Damian and Talia Al Ghul. Batman seeks assistance from the Bat family and Justice League to forge the Hellbatsuit for him then he went to Apokolips solo. He confronted Darkseid and they engaged in a bloody fight. Bruce successfully revives Damian with that crystal and goes back to Earth with the boomtube from Cyborg and then Kalibak attempts to drag Batman back to the Apokolips but the revived Damian kicked his face and knocks him out(The crystal that revived him briefly gave him super strength) then closing the boomtube successfully.
In Darkseid War Mobius the Anti Monitor and Darkseid fought to settle who is the real boss. Darkseid is winning but Mobius used the Flash and transforms him into the Black Racer/Death then launches him at Darkseid killing him. Then the Anti Life Equation gave some of the members of the Justice League some enhanced godlike powers that turned them into Gods.

Who thinks bringing Atlanteans and Martians to a planet full of fire and lava is a good idea, even without the Paradooms, MH will still get killed, and who told Aquaman not to bring his trident, he wanted to fight Darkseid bare handed? Funny how people think it's strange Lex Luthor ends up fighting with Superman. His origin story is that he fought Superman because he thought he was a danger to the human race. Seeing a greater threat to the planet it's logical for him to join in.

Lex hated superman from both logic and simple jealousy. In this moment he have no time to be jealous or afraid since darkseid is the bigger threat. He also sacrificed himself in the DCAU once he realizes darkseid can destroy humanity easier than superman.

As others have mentioned, the founding members of the JL had already beaten Darkseid himself and an army of his parademons. The JL was significantly larger by this point so its not THAT unreasonable to think they'd be able to take the fight to Darkseid. They had no clue that mass produced Doomsdays would be waiting for them.

Paradooms were the actual villain of this movie, they're even more powerful than Darkseid. Darkseid seems like a middle man in this movie.

The animators of this show really knew how to make the best out of a shitty situation. The animated universe had to be shut down early because of financial woes, yet even with rushed writing that created a plan by Superman which was literally the most questionable thing ever, they still somehow managed to make the story engaging and wrap everything up at least somewhat nicely
What would the plans have been if things didn't have to be wrapped up?

I think the smartest thing to do in this scenario would have been to leave Batman behind, with a link to a webcam or something so that he could follow the battle. That way, if something went wrong, Batman could make contingency plans.

@@GojoTheHonoredOne9 He has a battlesuit. And if he knows the way in to Darkseid's fortress, he can just bypass the paradooms and transport there. Alternatively, he could find someone to recruit who could fight the paradooms. Or devise a weapon that would be effective, like a freeze ray. All kinds of possibilities. But that's why you leave him behind, he's no good in a surprise fight, but give him time to prepare and he'll think of something.

Although the plan was bound to fail from the beginning, the writer's made the heroes too weak. Supes and WW doesn’t just get defeated like that, and Zatanna is an incredibly powerful magician who could've wiped a good portion of those demons out with a spell.
Zatanna literally has human durability it doesn’t matter if your a powerful sorcerer she got overpowered quickly and had no time to put up the spells
I feel like Zatanna should of been taking out by one of the paradooms throwing something from behind to end her.

It was really interesting to see superman motivated by fear and trying to take control. And all the main members of the league agreed they should do something to stop Darkseid at the end of rein of the supermen. But I find it very strange that batman didn't immediately shut down supermans plan and have them at least do recon before the attack. And just decided... "ehhhh if Constantine survives we should be fine ".. also did he not take 5 mins to make sure cyborg wasn't sending a wifi signal to apocalypse?

@@barnabusdoyle4930 that’s not true the plan was off screen, so we don’t know what the plan was, what we do know is that the plan was good enough for Batman to support it and follow up with little to no contingency plan, also good enough for Darkseid to listen to it and quickly create an army of parademons to stop them. Luthor and Batman was on that team, if those people followed up the plan then it must be a very good plan with hight success rate for Batman to have little to no contingency plan
Most unrealistic part about this movie, is that Batman went through with this plan instead of coming up with one himself

The downside of the team was that they went to a planet that would neutralize many of the members and even some of their weaknesses, rather then staying on earth where they have the advantage. Mera needs water, star fire and Martian are weak to fire, superman doesn't have earths sun, Barry doesn't have many parts to run to since most is fire. Like darksides planet is built to defend from the justice league

There's several heroes with the ability to scout the area. Superman can fly faster than light, Martian Manhunter can literally turn invisible AND untouchable. Maybe a super advanced camera-satellite from Cyborg? Or just a crazy advanced telescope?
This movie looked so promising… but fell short of the dramatic, beautifully animated fight scenes that us fans love to see from the JL
It was their greatest mistake to leave everything as it is after the first victory. After all, they should have understood that Darkseid would not just leave them after his loss. Okay, the league was inactive, but why didn't the Green Lanterns do anything. As I understood it, they didn't know him because the ring couldn't recognize Darkseid's boxes. Hal is the first lantern to encounter Darkseid. He had to inform the Oa about it and immediately gather forces for the destruction of the apocalypse.
*my first time seeing dc’s darkest moment be like:*
Major flaws in the plan:
1. Superman came up with it.
2. Cyborg is literally 95% Apokolipic technology, therefore Darkseid can use him as a stealth camera without alerting anyone.
3. Apokolips is a giant war factory planet that spits out deadly forces every few minutes, giving Darkseid a superior home field advantage.
4. The JL went with a small attack force and no backup. Not to mention, unqualified personal such as Aquaman, his wife Mira, and Martian Manhunter.
5. No current intel on the enemy. If you're going to attack someone like Darkseid, information is extremely important. He's a tyrant with many years of experience in war and always has a trick up his sleeve.
And finally 6. If you're not willing to kill the enemy, then the enemy won't hesitate to kill you. Or take advantage of your abilities, in the case of some of the JL.
To me, they were screwed from the beginning.
DC will always be top tier for their gore and depiction of death and brutality. Something Marvel lacks in my opinion
Clearly you don't pay attention to the Marvel and DC movies. Marvel is supposed to be more fun and energetic. DC leans more towards dark and gritty. I personally love both types bc it gives both brands a different look.
