Thank you Shona for such a comprehensive video. I bought some of the bamboo Jersey and made my brother a polo shirt for his birthday. He had never worn anything so soft before and it was so lovely to sew.
Thank you, Sheona for this in-depth description of the different jersey fabrics, which previously confused me and stopped me purchasing on-line. Best wishes from Penny 😊💕
Hi Sheona, thank you for your informative video about jersey fabrics, it is sometimes very confusing to know which is which. You seemed to have hit the nail on the head with this video very helpful. I look forward to your next video.
Sheona that was very very informative. Even though I already know knits well I still enjoyed watching. You are so great at explaining. That ponte looks amazing quality as do all the fabrics you've shown.
Thank you! Using some of your tips about working with jersey I’ve just make some lounge pants (Luna) and a tee top (Indigo) for my daughter out of your gorgeous raspberry viscose jersey. They feel so luxurious. This new video was really useful for me as I want to make myself some jumpers and sweatshirts so now I’ve got some inspiration for what to use in the heavier weight class. Plus I want to make some PJs so I think the bamboo could be good for that
Hallo, hier ist Karin aus Deutschland. Ich finde dein Video sehr informativ. Vielen Dank. Deine Stoffe finde ich wunderschön!!! Ich wünsche dir alles Gute. Bleib bitte gesund!
Love seeing your videos really helpful. The bamboo jersey is gorgeous- am going to use mine to make some more leggings- my 4th in bamboo - far better than tights ! Comfortable and breathable all day
Thank you so much for explaining this so well! I'm just getting back into sewing and I wasn't sure of the different jerseys and now I know what it is I need for the projects I want to create!
Thank you so much for this video. I could not understand how to understand the different Jersey fabrics. Your ‘how’ & ‘what method has really helped me to finally understand the fabric and the differences. Can this same method be applied to understanding wovens?
I wasted some expensive viscose jersey. The pattern said “ lightweight “. It looked awful. I redid the pattern in cotton jersey and it looked great. I learnt a lot about which kind of jersey to use where
Great informative video thank you. Can anyone tell me about sweatshirt fabric please. Is it considered jersey too? I have some that I bought online and it is definitely knit but has no stretch. Do I still need to use a jersey pattern for it or would it suit a woven pattern better ? New to all of this so would appreciate any guidance from those in the know. Thanks
I recently found out that it should be used for woven patterns unless it has some stretch. Some sweatshirt fabric does have stretch. I hope this helps.
Sue K thanks for your reply. That's the way I was heading so great to have an experienced opinion. A lot of patterns need knit for top and woven for bottom so I think I'll just need to make separates. Hope you have a raft filled weekend
Great and informative video! In the cottonJersey, what is the fabric called when it is 90% cotton and elasticize? Is there a special name? I am in the US and having the worst time trying to find the type of cotton Jersey that is a little bit heavier than a tee shirt. The weave looks the same on the right and wrong side of fabric and has more stretch one way than the other. I have used it for one layer for masks and it was perfect, but ran out. I tried Interlock, and it was too thin. The fabric must be breathable. I was thinking Ponte medium weight. What do you think? Help please.
This is just the video I needed, thank you! I want to sew with knits but I had no idea of the difference between them. The other thing I find difficult when shopping online is that patterns often say to use a fabric with "at least 25% stretch" for example, and there are little lines to show it needs to stretch from one to the other, but I can't work that out over the internet and it never seems to give that information in the fabric description🤔 Btw did you film this pre-lockdown? I didn't think anywhere was open for fabric.
I have heard that some email the online companies and ask about amount of stretch if it isn’t listed in the description. The company I order from the most often, in the US has the information in the description. I find it very helpful for when I order online.
What a great explanatory video! I’ve been so confused of all the jerseys. Now I know. I also like to know how to sew jerseys correctlytoo
I just had a lightbulb moment and all the different fabric types suddenly started making sense! Thank u so much!

I made a Sewaholic Renfrew a couple of weeks ago. Loved it. Then I saw I had made a snip in the fabric on the left shoulder...
Perhaps you can add some sort of embellishment to mask the snip.

I love cotton jersey but not confident enough to buy art gallery jersey yet!
Hi, which jersey fabric would you recommend for an ice skating top? Thank you
I love hello birds viscose jersey but there’s none left. Do you think you’ll get any more?
Does jersey knit always come tubular?
You should make the dress!
