Original Video:
• Jacob Collier - Summer...
Today on the channel, we are back with checking out @jacobcollier and another Mahogany Session tune. This one is called Summer Rain and is featuring the amazing Madison Cunningham and Chris Thile. This song honestly was a mountain top musical experience for me. Everything about it was so raw, real and exceptionally well done. Hope you enjoy! #reaction #jacobcollier #summerrain #christhile #madisoncunningham #musicreactions #acousticguitar #acoustic #mandolin #vocals

3 of the finest musicians performing today. This was recorded after they had done 4 sold out performances together, 2 in NYC, 2 in London. I've seen each artist separately, but would love to see this group live together. Madison is a brilliant songwriter, singer and guitarist.
Oh wow, that’s awesome! They were truly incredible
Madison Cunningham also tunes her guitar in an unusual way - lower than usual and more like a cello would. You can hear the difference when she plays and sings.
These softer more acoustic versions are great but to see the full genius of Jacob Collier you have to also look at the bigger stuff done with symphonic orchestras, Snarky Puppy, Metropole Orkest, big bands, professional choirs, audience choirs and so on as well as the multi-track stuff he does where it's all him. It could be a capella or multiple instruments but it's on these where the harmonies get really complex, there are shifting tonal centers, negative harmonies, microtonality and the rest. Any of these would do:
All Night Long (with Take 6), Moon River, Hideaway (video in his room), Don't You Know (with Snarky Puppy), Bridge Over Troubled Waters (with Yebba, John Legend and Tori Kelly or the live version just filmed in L.A.) In the Wee Small Hours (with saje), All I Need, Time Alone With You, Sleeping On My Dreams or any of the live improvised covers done when he's touring.
Keep in mind that I'm just scratching the surface of the 5+ albums and 6 Grammys. Myfavefrom Vol 4 is A Rock Somewhere which he can't do in concert because it requires expert raga singing and sitar.

There's also a video of him teaching Tori the runs used in the recording. When she performed it live she added some embellishments.
Sweet! Really appreciate that! Thanks so much! 😄
I have so many recommendations, but if you wanna stick with the Mahogany theme, he has a couple more of those which are both great ("Make Me Cry" and "Hyberballad"). If you're looking for more music that fits this acoustic style, Djesse Vol. 2 has good choices, like Hideaway
Thanks for the suggestions! I really love these Mahogany Sessions but I’m down to hear anything he does really, he’s a genius!

His recent performance of Wild Mountain Thyme is a recent favorite of mine
I also recommend you listen to this one : "jacob collier can't help falling in love (live in Lisbon), it's crazy !!
Awesome, thanks for the suggestion!
I'll be looking to see if Corey does that one, because now I'm really interested, myself. 😀
The original is very similar to this in feeling, pace, and tone btw
The biggest difference between this version and the album version is probably the string section the album version has.
Gotcha! Thanks for the insight!
