      Yes, it has lots of good sounds, lots of keys (76) and a very simple operation. I have used this keyboard as a teacher in timing, a fancy metronome. My musical timing is much better today...and..I can hear my improvements from my old recordings.

    Thank you so much for making this video, I've had this keyboard for almost 5 years and I only ever played using the default Grand Piano because it's such a pain to read through the written instructions. Wish I've found your video years ago.

      Thank you. The automatic accompaniment (styles) is a fun way to play with a virtual band. And it will hone your timing skills to the maximum. The reason I bought this keyboard was to play with the built in band.

      There is a style volume and song volume in the function menu, it is in that long menu list of functions. Press the [FUNCTION] button and then use either of the [CATEGORY] buttons to search through all the choices. It is a long list, just remember which one you start with and after about 20 or 25 [CATEGORY] button presses it will come back around to the where you started on the first parameter. In that long list is the song volume.

    Wow! Thank you so much for your quick response. It seems that the bank buttons have to be tapped twice. Sometimes I have to hold it down for a while to change voices or save the settings. The minute I turn the wheel or type on my dual voice, it jumps from the number and I have to repeat it several times. Don't know if the buttons are not working well or it is sensitive. I bought it on eBay and the owner said it's only two years old and hardly used it. You do great lessons. I appreciate your videos. Thank you

      When storing settings on bank/registration you must first select and empty place to store OR a place to overwrite a previous store. Press the bank button and use the wheel to select a bank number /// then press one of the four registration buttons //// Write down the location; such as (bank 3 registration 4). ///then make all your edits, layers, splits, volume, reverb exc. /// Now to save...be careful....hold down the bank button, and while holding the bank button down, press the registration button....so for example hold the bank button down and press registration 4 button. Now your settings are saved. to recall setting; press the bank button ///select the bank///then select the registration number button.

    This is really good. I've learned that it can do so much more than I realized. I have two comments however:
    One is about the lighting. With the black on black, it's often really hard to see which control key is being pressed.
    Two would be about those of us who have an NP-V60 instead of a V80. This gets really confusing when the number of a voice is mentioned as the numbers between the two models are different. Perhaps subtitles could be added. For example "#056 on the NP-V60". Thanks :-)

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  3 года назад

      Thank you. Yes, I don't know why the buttons are all mono colored, not good. You could try and paint them??? It would have to be a paint that would not wear off with your finger presses. Sorry, but I am just a poor musician and don't have access to a V60, don't really know all the differences between it and the V80, but I think the video works well for both, the number of the patch (voice) really doesn't matter, choose whatever voice you like.

    I just purchased a Yamaha Piaggero NP-60 on eBay. I want to be able to combine the best and richest pianos and layer them to play contemporary Hillsong music at churches. Also a nice soft contemporary electric piano sound. I need to be able to have it saved or make it my default so I can bring it up in an instant or switch between in quickly when I play different songs. I tried following the on line manual but it does not always save and I can't find a great piano sound with a string and reverb combination. Nor can I create one. Thank you, Miriam

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад +2

      The bank and registration is where you save your custom set-ups for instant recall even during the performance you switch in time to the tempo. Overall reverb is controlled by the function button and all the parameters contained within. The reverb for layered or split voices are by holding down the split of layer buttons until the display changes and then using the updown arrows to find reverb. If you want a layered combination that works perfectly for you, you will need to do the editing as explained in the video; Layer the strings - Lower or raise octaves - add reverb to just the strings - Raise or lower the volume of the strings until they blend the way you wish - Add more variation to your piano/string layer by add a split so you can play three voices together.

    Are those keys "non-weighted" just like in NP12/32 series?
    Or they are like the heavier Yamaha P-series Digital piano with weighted hammer action?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  9 лет назад +1

      +Albert C. Yang Keys are synth action. Very good feel and quality in a synth action keyboard. Not a weighted key like the "P" series. I don't think there is a single arranger keyboard available with weighted hammer action keyboard, and only two with 88 un-weighted keys. The arranger market is a confusing one.

    I know the keys arent weighted but do they at least feel better than like really cheap keyboards? Thinking about buying this one but kinda concerned about how the keys feel. Also is the sound louder the harder you press down?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  4 года назад

      The keys are synth action, short throw, un-weighted. The key feel is very good and quiet to play, they are velocity sensitive meaning dynamic and will play 128 steps of different volumes depending on key pressure......BUT.....for solo piano I found the velocity impossible to control perfectly and so would not buy this for solo piano. For all other sounds and playing with styles it is good I really like playing it. You would have to buy a used one today, the 80&60 are no longer in production. If you are buying for piano alone and portability is not a necessity, buy the YamahaP45 instead with 88 weighed keys.

    Thank you very much for the review, it's very helpful for beginners like myself. I have a problem, though. Maybe you can help me out. What I need is to record a melody and then loop it and use it as a layer for another melody. The A-B key doesn't seem to do that, it repeats the extract only after a pause (filled with metronome ticking) and I need to make it play continiously... The manual is of no use. Or am I asking too much of it?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад

      Thank you. I don't think the Piaggero is capable of looping. It is just a multi track song recorder that plays from start to finish and then stops. Looping can be done from a computer if you have one, or a stand alone Zoom recorder, or a looping pedal. I record into my Zoom 24 track stand alone recorder which has looping options.

      I don't know, and I would highly doubt it transmits MIDI CC. I was able to play instruments on the computer, specifically Arturia V collection.

      Some arrangers have a sustain button feature, this Piaggero does not, you must use a pedal. A simple pedal for sustain can be purchased new for about $15 US. The pedal will give much more control than just turning on a sustain and leaving it on.

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  9 лет назад +2

      MarleneXtreme2 The sound for the video was recorded at two devices simultaneously. The on-board microphone on the video camera was used for my voice, and the Piaggero was recorded by direct injection from the headphone output, split into a stereo pair of mono (TS) plugs into a audio recorder. This was done so you could hear the full rich sound of the Piaggero as you would hear yours through headphones or a good amplified audio system. Whatever sound source you used to listen to the video, could be used to monitor your Piaggero and achieve identical sound as from the video.

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  9 лет назад +1

      MarleneXtreme2 Thank you. the sound of the Piaggero is very good, but the built in speakers limit the sound quality. The built in speakers are only a convenience. If you want the great sound inside this instrument you will need good quality headphones (studio headphones) or a near field monitoring system.

      The tempo button on the panel gives direct access to tempo, the tempo can even be accessed while the rhythm is running. OR the tempo button can be tapped while playing to set tempo. Try an initialize of the entire keyboard, you will lose any saved settings, so back up to USB if wish to keep your saved data. INITIALIZE: power down the keyboard - the hold down the highest white key on the keyboard and power on the keyboard.

    Is 200$ a reasonable price for a used one nowadays?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  19 дней назад +1

      The sounds of this keyboard are very good, if quality sound is very important then $200 would be reasonable. (note: you will not hear the quality sound through the built in speakers) I never buy used instruments because I use them too much and there is no way to get them repaired in my little town. Shipping off somewhere for repair can have them damaged in shipping or the repair isn't good, and then the money brings the used price up to new. Then we have new technology, the Piaggero is over 10 years old. IF you want a very creative arranger where you can edit the tones and make your styles, then consider the Casio CTX3000 for $350. IF you just want a piano, consider the Yamaha P-45 for $400, the piano sound will be better than the Piaggero, full 88 keys and weighted action. Today the best deal in the world for a great digital piano AND an arranger is the Yamaha DGX-670, I bought one last year. After decades of waiting for a great piano, this was finally it for me.

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад

      No. Your choice is either drums only - or - the entire backing band. If you are going to play professionally as a one man band this instrument with it's limited styles and no way to edit or make your own, will quickly become boring for you and your audience. You will need an arranger keyboard that allows you to create you own styles. Casio WK7600 ($450.00) or a Yamaha PSR S670 ($800.00) or a Korg Microarranger ($500.00). The Korg uses mini keys, so you would need a controller with a 5pin MIDI output. OR you may be interested in a Casio XW-P1 synthesizer...see my video on this: ruclips.net/video/WFVrLK0FiAc/видео.html

      Yes, the sounds are good, and I still use this keyboard because of the sounds, but the same old style patterns get very frustrating because I can't change them. This was my first arranger keyboard, I have learned how to play with musicians and increase my timing accuracy with it so it has been valuable, but would trade it in second for a good deal on a Yamaha S670.

    I have a question. Can we add styles from other keyboards to this one? The Style (midi) files for example from Yamaha A1000. If the quality drops a little bit that's fine. But I'm wondering if the actual transfer can happen or not?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  7 лет назад

      www.yamahamusicsoft.com/songs/style-files?instrument_id=9123 is the link to a few styles you can add to the one slot open #166. It looks like you can play SMF (standard midi files) from a USB drive, but you will need to consult the manual for the lengthy instructions. The NPv80 is not an editing type arranger, you cannot edit the styles or the sounds. I outgrew this keyboard this year, where as a composer, the keyboard is to rigid and unchanging. I have enjoyed this keyboard for over 5 years as it has helped my timing performance issues tremendously. I now use this keyboard as a MIDI controller for soft synths, and not much more.

    • @accent-guy
      @accent-guy 7 лет назад

      Thank you. And one more question. Can we load more than one style then easily switch between them? Because each style loading takes almost 30 second, and I cannot switch between loaded styles quickly. Maybe I'm asking too much for this keyboard.

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  7 лет назад

      Yes, you are asking too much, and no, you can't load more than one external sound at a time. Slot #166 is the only style slot open for importing.

      @funnzie  5 месяцев назад

      Mantenga presionado el botón DUAL VOICE hasta que la pantalla cambie a D.Voice. Luego gire el dial hasta que encuentre el instrumento que desee. Luego, asegúrese de que el botón de voz dual esté activado y reproduzca las nuevas voces en capas. Para cambiar el volumen de los instrumentos tendrás que presionar el botón FUNCIÓN y usar los botones de categoría arriba/abajo para encontrar el volumen en la larga lista de opciones.

      The NPV-80 / 60, is a 76 key synth action keybed.

    • @funnzie

      Yes, you can plug headphones into the back of the unit. You can also use a special splitter plug (stereo TRS to two mono TR plugs) to amp this keyboard.

    Thank again for answering me so quickly. I finally got some good sounds saved and understood the use and the way to press these little buttons. I personally don't like these tiny buttons. They sometimes get stuck and with your instructions, I am able to have more control over my keyboard. I need to be able to change sounds and transpose when needed at an instant. Hopefully the use of these banks will smooth my transitions when I play at a church service. I hope I bought the right keyboard. I had the impression that I was going to be able to layer 5 or more sounds together to make richer sounds. I read that I could add Omnisphere or Keyscape, but I don't want have to carry a laptop. I would not mind using an iPad but it sounds too complicated. Do you recommend these for use with this keyboard V60?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад +1

      I don't like computers for live performance, too much to go wrong. I want the solid RAM chip hardware keyboard for live play. There are a few options at the Omnisphere price level. The Yamaha MX49 full of great sounds but can only layer 2 sounds from the keyboard, but through a computer editor can layer as many as you like or polyphony can handle. Then the Casio XW-P1 can layer 6 tones from the keyboard, but the sound quality is not as good as Yamaha. Both for around $500.00. See my review on the Casio...

      funnzie, thank you again for answering all my questions. You are correct, when you say that connecting a keyboard to a computer, much can go wrong. It's too confusing for me and would be quite embarrassing if something goes wrong. I was reading some music blogs on the internet and they make it sound very easy, but I know better. I think I will just keep it simple! Thank you again. You are a blessing!

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад

      Yes, keep it simple. I have used computers for graphic design and audio engineering for 26 years, I repair my own and teach computer classes. But I would never use a computer for music on stage, why....because I know computers :)

    is it as hard to play a key as at a real piano ?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  7 лет назад +1

      Action on the Piaggero is light synth action. AND the keys are slightly smaller than most standard pianos. These two features make this a very difficult solo piano keyboard. I have never gotten used to the action and cannot control this keyboard like I can a weighted keyboard or acoustic piano. There are velocity settings in the global parameters that let you set a key pressure, I have it set to maximum or (hard) pressure, but I still cannot control the keyboard well for solo piano.

      another unique thing about this keyboard is that it switches itself off when not in use....energy saving...though you have advised me that it is better to leave the instrument switched on in the break....does it mean that yamaha has installed the feature that actually damages instrument (by switching it automatically off, so i have to switch it on again, many times each day)

    What difference ? Np v60 vs v 80??

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  7 лет назад +1

      Both are out of production, but if I remember correctly the 80 has USB drive backup, more higher quality sounds, maybe a few more styles.

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  9 лет назад +1

      +Macky Ancheta Yes. But there isn't a standard of "full size" I have 6 keyboards all with "full size" keys. But they all measure differently, they are all different size keys. frustrating and stupid.

      Yeah. Thats right... i hope it isnt that small... i havent seen np v80 yet... i just read some reviews regarding the keys... im planning to buy a npv80... well its a pro keyboard... thank you!

    Where can we buy this model?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад

      Depends where in the world you live. In America, you can buy this wherever Yamaha is sold. Outside of America...I don't know....go to the Yamaha website and look for a dealer in your area.

      In America I cannot find it anywhere, all sold out,

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  8 лет назад

      You are correct!!! I can't find this keyboard for sale anymore. AND there isn't a model from another manufacturer like it in the price range. The only two choices left is the Korg Microarranger for $500 and the Casio Wk7600 for $450 (see my review). The Korg uses mini keys so you would have to purchase a controller keyboard with a 5 pin MIDI connection to connect to the Korg for full sized key play. IF you wish to spend more money the Yamaha S670 for $800 is far superior to the piaggero, but only has 61 keys and no MIDI 5 pin. The keyboard that functions just like the piaggero in this video from Yamaha is the Yamaha DGX660 full sized 88 key weighted key keyboard.

    • @funnzie

      HEY!! I just found the replacement from Yamaha for the piaggero it is the PSR EW400 76 key. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PSREW400 . IT looks much better than the piaggero for the same price. You may be in luck.

    • @wepresent4293
      @wepresent4293 8 лет назад

      Thank you but I dont like PSR EW400 bad sound like a toy. It is my first purchase . and it should be only 76 keys. for mobility to carry where I go. Next time I will think of Yamaha DGX660 WHite one. But now I want Piaggero

    Hey! Is it possible to layer other melodies on top of each other? I want to play chords, bass, lead and drums all at once, is it possible to just record the chords and layer other melodies on top?

    • @funnzie
      @funnzie  4 года назад +1

      There is a 4 or 5 track recorder built in. So you can begin by playing the chords and accompaniment on track 1, then multi-track and layer over this for a song on tracks 2, 3 and 4. Otherwise you can only layer one instrument over another in live play.

      funnzie How do I access this track recorder?

    • @funnzie

      I sold this keyboard last year. You will have to consult your manual to learn how to use the multi-track recorder. :(
