During deckbuilding, Cimo keeps mentioning that Loop of Destruction relies on opponents triggering destruction, but does he not realize that it also triggers off of his own destruction effects, such as Parasomnia Pillow?

He does. The problem is I think that's one of his only destruction effect. So in reality 90% of the time loop will have to be triggered by an opponent to not be a dead card. And even if he uses Pillow that's at least 2 turns because pillow activates on your turn so you have to set loop, pass, hope it doesn't get popped, then when it's back to your turn use pillow. And if you're at the point where you need pillow that might be too slow. And the only other is I think the Runick spell but that also comes with the downside of losing a battle phase.
That's because yes he can use pillow, however in most cases he need his opponent to pop as it's more likely to happen l, than getting both pillow and loop, he would need a few more pop effects to really gain value out of loop, so at this stage it makes sense to not play it just yet.

I feel like Diabound Kernel should have had a spot in the victory reel. Diabound was the first boss monster and has always put in the work
It should have been in the victory reel instead of Chaos Sorcerer, because that card has practically done nothing since it was pulled.

he sadly doesn't have a good reaction to him pulling it, the highlight would simply just be showing the card on the screen.
Cimo not only reached Platinum, he did it by remembering to conduct the battle phase AND defeating Blue Eyes.

Cimo has the making of a weird traptrix bug deck with the card he pulled two episodes and the random traptrix he has been picking up throughout the series
Add his Naturia Core (Camilla, Hornet, Vein) to that and you have very consistent access to disruption, Synchro plays and a Field Nuking 3400 ATK Boss.
he also has aroma stuff putting bergamot online which can beat over anything if played right.
Its probably not better than just straight up beatdown

I think he also has circle of the fairies and some aromamage, as well as some decent naturia cards so it’s getting there

After following you in your steps, Plat is literal hell. Getting into plat 4 is doable, due to the selfTKs, surrenders, and occasional actual wins, but past that plat 3 is a masochist journey all on its own. One of the discords I'm in currently abides by the masochist rules but does allow people to get bundles (if they want) for plat 5 and plat 1. Simply due to the power scale. I haven't bought a bundle, but boy it's hell to try to get up past the plat 4

It’s not like he can out a single Mikanko monster anyway, he might win the battle but never the war.
It just forces Mikanko to skip a turn and kill him ext turn. He'll never be able to OTK them and Mikanko actually has a lot of recursion to play through a scuffed opener.
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND BUILDING AN INSECT DECK. The insect boss monster you pulled is worth experimenting with I think, especially since you now have more good insects and a generic insect link 2 traptrix
I think he needs more support but he's developing a core. If he was taking requests id recommend a periodic search of key terms to see what he has.
Cimo complains Floodgate Trap Hole isn't being useful and then proceed to draw and never set the card.
That's how it's going to be useful, sure.
Cimo is quietly building an insect and plant deck out of his pulls.
Dude, you can actually use that Traptrix Cularia if you use the insect/plant engine alongside Beargram. It can even recycle your floodgate traphole using dioneia, and it can also make it reusable. The value is amazing. You need to make use of that engine already!
I really hope Cimo leans into the Plant/Insect deck concept eventually, having drawn multiple Traptrix cards (and a Trap Hole to go with them) as well as Beargram, alongside other assorted generic insect/plant cards like Maneater Bug.
This series helped me get back into Yugioh ever since i stopped during the start of the pendelum era. Started doing a masochist challenge myself and been having fun slapping together random garbage to make a deck to duel with.
Though its been alot of surrendering, i still enjoy myself with the one win to the selfTK deck and getting a pack to hopefully upgrade my dumpster fire of a deck.
LETS FREAKING GOOOOOO!!!! Man this series has been so fun to watch and grow. One idea I’ve seen some other people playing the Masochist challenge have had is making multiple decks built around various synergies in their decks even ones they don’t have a full deck for they still have the incomplete one to fill with new cards they get for it.
What's I've done for my challenge is in the early stages I put every card in not playing in my deck currently but could be usable in the future into 1 deck.
That was I can see all the relevant synergies I have and good cards that don't make the cut for whatever reason without scrolling through my collection.
If I pull enough cards of a certain archetype/ synergy I put it in a separate deck just to get ready to make that
Unironically the best way to play yugioh. Since you know you're going to lose most times out of 10, you can't feel too salty. Also, doing this challenge on my own time - pulled both ip masq and accesscode talker in the same master pack.
I too am doing the challenge and like a week ago realized i oopsed into a wyrm core i wasn't running, lol.
Had 3 unmasked dragons and some random 2000+ attack wyrms so i was able to use an old school giant rat strat

Insane pulls. I have a little wyrm engine in my masochist deck consisting of 2x Vishuda, 1x Adhara, 1x Shthana, 1x Auspice Chunjun, 1x Monk of the Tenyi, 1x Chixiao, and 1x Draco berserker of the Tenyi.
I also pulled both Borrelsword Dragon and Chaos Angel in successive packs.
Hi cimo, I took some time to review what you pulled to date to give you a list of cards to reconsider. Perhaps Pin something you can easily check for ideas. Keep up the great content.
*tenyi adhara* - free SS, tuner, can be tribute fodder
*speedroid rubberband plane x2* - wind, easy conditional SS, atk drop to hit over bigger monsters. You will need to incorporate more SSing. This only becomes stronger over time.
*serpent strike + ogdoadic queen* - strike will send queen to GY then every turn you can trade a non-dark monster (hand or field) for a SSnd 2700 atk body with conditional disruption
*photon thrasher* - light, free SS, overlooked due to restriction. consider that most turns you NS an 1800 atk monster. At worst, this is a 2100 NS. Opens up xyz to load GY.
*duke shade* - dark, conditional SS, 2k def. The SS trades a dark on field for a dark in GY. you can SS this, and recover diabound (then tribute), chaos sorc, or simorg (then SS)
*diana the light spirit* - light, conditional SS. Helps open up tributes, xyz, push for dmg.
*rokket caliber* - dark, tuner, conditional SS. I haven't looked at your link/ synchro pool, but I believe this is heavily worth considering.
*naturia camellia, horneedle* - many have already suggested. sets up negate, loads gy for beargram, target for bird of roses
*monster slots* - after incorporating a more aggressive SS strat slots will be live turn 1-3. Dig for cards, build board faster
*snowman effect* - more SSing = huge boost. Activate in dmg to steal games AT MINIMUM this is trap version of back-up rider.
*danger ogopogo x2* - dark, free SS, dig for cards, wall, set up tribute, trigger rubberband plane, etc, etc
*powercell* - dark, trade 100 atk to push others to 2300. my pick is shura.

dude, i honestly recommend for fun to also decorate your icon (i think you can buy a blue eyes icon, but if not Starry Dragon is a great pick). Not only to look like how you build your field to look like you you ranked up, but also (theoretically) it could trick your opponent that the player theyre fighting against, is a competitive player (along side the field). You don't need to, but that would be fun

Cimo beating dark magicians with dark magician is the most poetic thing to come from this series.
I feel like platinum is where it really begins, before now it was just a matter of putting in the time to be matched with people you could beat or who would surrender. Now you cant just "wait it out" and have to win games consistently to further advance. Very excited to see how it turns out!
This has been the highlight of my Thursdays.

I just want to say that this series, along with some of MBT's stuff, got me to start playing Yugioh again after being away from it for like 15 years.
What a crazy journey. This reminded me of playground Yu-Gi-Oh deck building back in the day. This was a lot of fun to watch

This series is so addicting I think the only person who can do this is Alex Cimo with protagonist luck
I highly recommend reconsidering Photon Thrasher. In my own journey to Platinum with this challenge, he has become one of my most valued cards. His negative effect really isn't that bad and I can't say I have ever had it come up. A free SS for rank 4's or tribute summons is huge, especially considering cards like Kernal and Aether have put in a lot of work for you. At the end of the day, Masochist decks really only steal wins using removal and beatdown and I think PT supports both of those strategies phenomenally especially now that you have Chaos Sorc.
I somehow beat full power dragonlink with my janky ass masochist deck that got me into platinum

You bamboozled the opponent. They were so confused, that they panicked.
Toll Hike as unassuming as that card is, won me a ton of games.
People just don't read and so they use their entire hand and can't attack. And even the next turn they might only get one attack. So you have time to pick apart their board and stall it out. It's not the best floodgate, but it's always funny to see people enter battle phase without a hand.

Congratulations! I know there are others doing this challenge but so far only Alex was able to make it very entertaining to watch. The montage of the arch nemesis, showcasing the cards that were part of the journey is top notch. Not only it is a nice series it is the most fun way to play Master Duel. Thank you for suffering for us

Cimo. Please. Read Dwarf Star's effect. It adds a LIGHT or DARK Level 7. That's Daedalus. It can also add Dark Simorgh.

this series has honestly been one of the biggest revelations in ygo content this year, really great stuff
One thing alex failed to mention about daedalus is that its banish effect depends on how many field spells are on the field, regardless of whos controlling them, and a lot of decks run field spells, so i think its still a good inclusion to the deck, especially because a 2600 beater that can banish a card on the field if theres a field spell is prime material for beating a dark magician deck, which is very common.
The light dragon he got searches it so, he would be an idiot not to.
@@sandcastlevibes It also searches Dark Simorgh, along with some nice generic cards he could get later like Destrudo, Gorz, Senko the Skybolt Star, and Dark Armed Dragon.

The number of plants and bugs are slowly creeping up! Pull a few more traptrix or naturia monsters and you might have a combo oene your hands

IDP is a also graveyard destruction. It can also counter a revive effect, as well as banish a card on field.
I assume that first deck that gonna have some actual combos and synergies gonna be a insect/plant deck... He just need some few more potentially good cards from those types.

Losing to DM for not setting floodgate and not using fogblade on your kaiju vs mikanko is crazy. Both games easily winnable be completely thrown.
Yea really don't have a clue why you wouldn't set floodgate. If you were scared it'd be popped by that DM spell card, doesn't it require DM to be on the field...which would be the target for floodgate anyway?

My ultimate wish for this series is to see Cimo play Crystal Beast. If he pulled a Conclave+Pegasus he has a really nice core.

I mean, he's pulled some crazy wins but he's fought so many Self Turn Kill decks that its hard to say that he'd be where he is right now if he didn't count them as victories

@@LuckyAce203 I mean yea I guess it counts but at the time, he had nothing going for him. He had like no removal, no good beaters, he was losing like every duel which is the point, but now in the series his deck is actually pretty good. So I feel like it'd be cooler if he actually progressed through Platinum with his deck rather then having half of the duels end in his victory with no effort exerted whatsoever. I'm definitely not trying to belittle Cimo or anything, he's done fantastic so far, that's just my two cents

PS: Cimo, please look into your Plant/Insect Synergies again. Your pulls are enough for a nice, compact engine with access to negates and a scary boss monster with Beargram!

Honestly, the insect/plant deck is looking more and more playable with the new traptrix + the naturias and the big boss Cimooo pulled a while ago
Cimo, I'd consider going first with this deck. I completely understand why you wanted to go second at the start and agree with that decision, but at this point you have Spellbound, Flashing Fire, Draco-Utopian Aura, Fog Blade, IDP, Floodgate Trap Hole, and for some match-ups Dust Tornado, making for a pretty high chance of drawing disruption. The more robust meta decks won't really care, but some more fragile combo decks could definitely lose to that level of interaction.
Realistically, the series can go on until he gets a full competitive deck.
Getting to Platinum is your skill shining through!

Cimo should treat himself to TWO Master Packs per Platinum win. It's not gonna change much & it would make things more exciting. Let's be honest, he needs all the help he can get
I went against my first masochist deck recently. Had some of the most insane extra deck cards, but almost no way to access them. Honestly, the main deck also seemed like a legit pendulum deck until he set a scale 2 and 3 then passed.

I like to imagine someone is trying to make a Master Duel combo video while Cimo's recording Master Duel Masochist. Like, the guy gets paired up with Cimo and only activates one card, only to get frustrated after Cimo immediately surrenders.

At one point in the series he was 43-119 which is tied for the fourth worst record all time by an MLB team tied with the 2003 tigers. Since then to get to plat he went 22-27 which is a +18% win rate. Nice job 👍
Now might be a good time to swap to giving 2 packs per win, seeing as you need a win to cancel out a loss now.
