I absolutely love this movie, I showed it to my dad a few weeks ago. A professor showed it in class in college and it rocked my world. The third act of this movie and Jodie Foster’s acting makes me cry my eyes out, I lose it when she sees the celestial event and the alien civilization. “They should have sent a poet”. The novel is wonderful and certainly more complete and smarter but I adore the film too

      2) They do not know if aliens are hostile or not. Maybe it is a beacon for invading fleet?
      3) Or simply they do not know if it is fake or not. It would be kind of funny if it was hoax...

Excellent work Sir. One of the finest works of science fiction ever written.
One thing often overlooked by those that have read the book, and watched the movie is.... "time'. More specifically, time travel, and the flawed human understanding of it.
Time travel as we understand it is flawed.
The moment the "machine" is activated, the signal that initiated its creation stopped being received. Meaning that it's transmission was terminated in the past, once its continued transmission was no longer deemed necessary.
    Why waste time.

This should really be adapted into a series, or mini-series even. A film can rarely do justice to a book, as a film needs to be around 2 hours long and can only fit so much information into the finished product. A series could do a deeper dive into the story and characters, and ultimately it would be fascinating to see what the scientists were up to after the book left off.

Kind of reminds me of Mass Effect, which I guess Mass Effect was probably created because of this.
It also allows me to think, "Hmm, what if there is something like that out there and maybe they've seen us but have seen that we're not ready yet, despite our advancements or are we really alone or will we be the first civilization that goes into Space and I guess become the Aliens to other worlds."

Eck, you should review the Three-Body Problem book series if you ever get the chance. My absolute favorite sci fi universe of all time.

I am not a great mathematician, but I always appreciated the idea of it being a universal language, that is true, that we might use to communicate with aliens species.

I maybe alone but I think its one of the greatest films ever made. Great story and the 'do you believe her' makes you question yourself.

I watch this movie a couple of times a year and now go through the book once a year. My favorite story. The book has a nice personal twist for the character, and also leaves a good set up of further work to do for humanity.
2001 is a good book too. Another interesting story is Flash Forward.

Contact the movie is the most accurate movie about extraterrestrials. I say this as an astronomy geek and movie lover.
