He's not on drugs. Not even alcohol. In some interviews, he says that even when fans offer him drugs, he kindly refuses it. Also, he speaks in many songs about the time when he was younger and the problems he had with drugs, but he's with no doubt sober now. It's a great achievement to overcome drug abuse and create such beautiful music.
One can lose oneself's mind without drugs. All my love Matt.

Saw y'all at Antones in Austin back in 2009. Still to this day the best concert I've ever been too. Y'all really know how to put on a show. You and the guitarist were crowd surfing over us multiple times. Man that was a hell of a show
Its a little sad seeing Matt lately. It appears he's lost his mind and/or is fried from who knows what drugs. Still love this band but it seems Matt is spiraling. Not trying to stir up drama just something I've noticed over the years.
He did have a nasty divorce and lost one of his best friends from suicide in the same time frame so yeah.
He's been a wildcat for a decade. Maybe he's just letting a little more and more of his real self out there. Having more fun instead of creating an image

@@scary_fu I saw them in 2015 with the Black Keys but saw them a year later with Portugal the Man. The second was a nice outside venue on a warm summer evening sitting on blankets with a little smoke.
