"It's ok that the moon cried right? ... I'd cry too if I was hit by a rocket." What a beautiful emotionally aware sentiment to teach your son. Boys should learn from their fathers that it's ok to show emotions.
Lorenzo should be a regular appearance now! That boy is just too darn cute. Excellent episode as well, guys! I think Lifeforce is genuinely great but I can understand not liking it.
Scene it! I very much loved it, and been makin fry bread ever since! Personally a fan of traveling adventure movies , especially ones that make you feel good about dark realities. Idk too much about the director other than he is also native, but man, I loved every shot in the movie, it takes real skill to make an automobile that can only drive reverse to continue to move the story forward. I also read the book 📖 .. jk idk if there's a book.
In honor of Rutger Hauer’s passing, might I suggest Paul Verhoeven’s 1985 historical adventure film Flesh + Blood. It’s a tough watch due to some questionable morality and problematic themes, but this is intended as Verhoeven is going for realism in this fantasy film. Its morality is not supposed to be black and white, nor is it trying to be lighthearted fun. I’d love to hear you guys give your take on this cult classic!
When asked in the commentary track what the first thing is that comes to his (Hooper's) mind when someone mentions Lifeforce today, his answer is a very succinct and timid “Mathilda May.”
I can’t tell whether or not Matt and Craig are trying to make Craig’s son the new WTTB mascot by putting him in every cold opener, or if Craigs wife drops him off on Craig whenever he goes and films these episodes.
The part of ELECTRIC BOOGALOO where Tobe Hooper says finding Mathlida May was "one of the great accomplishments of my career" is one of the creepiest moments of any documentary.
Great episode guys (as always!) Just wondered if either of you had ever seen the 1998 film, The Avengers? It's a personal favourite of mine and, if it is as yet unseen, I think it would be perfect for your show--it's basically James Bond meets Alice in Wonderland. Also, I graduated from university recently and your show helped me through the tough final months of my degree, so a very big thank you for all your work!
Thanks for replying to my Seen It comment about Annihilation. I'm glad I could reignite your love of talkin' rainbow butt. Since posting that original comment, I have read through the Southern Reach book trilogy that the film was based on. The film and the books are two very different animals, both with their individual strength and weaknesses, but I still love the film version for its incredible visuals and eerie soundtrack.
Downsizing was marketed so weird. They made it all about them being shrunk and all the sort of wacky hijinks that were supposed to ensue but it was really a drama about a guy ending a lousy marriage, finding love and purpose in life. The being shrunk stuff was almost irrelevant to the story.
Favorite Vampire movies. 1) Let the Right One In (2008) - Swedish with English caption 2) Interview with the Vampire (1994) 3) Dracula (1931) with Bela Lugosi 4) Nosferatu (1922) 5) Shadow of the Vampire (2000) 6) Hunger (1983) 7) Near Dark (1987) 8) Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) 9) Love at First Bite (1979) 10) From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) 11) Once Bitten (1985) 12) Thirst (2009) Korean with English caption 13) Lifeforce (1985) 14) 30 Days of Night (2007) 15) Byzantium (2013)
Next year for Sci Fi month you should watch Steve Railsback's 'Turkey Shoot' also known as 'Blood Camp Thatcher'. On a side note, Railsback was pretty good as Manson in 'Helter Skelter'.
i had never seen destination moon until your show on it despite having heard of it for many years. interestingly enough just today they were doing a piece on it on NPR as part of the moon landing anniversary coverage. also Matt, i couldn't disagree with you more about interstellar. As someone who has 2 degrees in the sciences, and has read up on a lot of the ideas behind the movie, it is actually pretty strong and what the movie so strong. they had physicists advising throughout and got everything scientifically accurate to the extent possible, and the ideas which science is still trying to unravel were portrayed according to prominent theories in quantum physics.
Hey there folks! Just when I think I've at least heard of most major horror motion pictures from the past few decades, you guys hit me with one that's never crossed my path. Even if it doesn't seem like essential viewing, I'm glad I could watch you guys watch it. Where horror is concerned, I'm curious if either or both of you have seen Robert Wise's 1963 film The Haunting. Matt's favorite haunted house may be the Overlook Hotel, but have to say mine is Hill House. It's an amazing, subtle, psychological film that I've gone back to over and over, ever since I was a kid, and it's never let me down. If you've seen it I'd love to hear your thoughts, and if you haven't I think it would make for a great October episode!
My buddy was an extra in Downsizing, in the part filmed in Norway. The local paper was very excited about having Hollywood stars visiting our little part of the world... Kinda regret I chickened out of applying to be an extra as well, it would've been fun.
Hey guys, love the show! Do you have any thoughts on the 1984 Dune movie? I watched it for the first time recently and it legitimately felt like a fever dream. If so, do you have any opinion on what you'd like to see in the one coming out in 2020?
Just so you know, and I don't know why I care this much because I don't collect them... That is not a Funko. That's a Munny Figure. They sell blank figurines that you customize. Also that's definitely Mark Twain, Einstein wore sweaters mostly.
If y'all would like a so-bad-it's-hilarious film, I recommend The Skulls! The actors are so serious saying silly nonsense, it's never fails to make me giggle!
"I've been using my brain cell sooo much all day everyday that I can almost hear the click sound that disconnects my synapse circuit. To gain the life-force I watched LIFEFORCE before going to bed. Mathilda May might have suck my energy up..." - Hideo Kojima
Have you guys seen Midsommer yet? I absolutely loved it! The tension was gripping and it was shot so beautifully, though while I was entranced in the theater my friends were not. Am I the crazy one for enjoying this movie?
They did the alien cat and mouse with Species. I have to know if you all have seen Outland with Sean Connery. No relevance to Lifeforce, but is campy and takes place in space, lol.
Where's the Lost Weekend episode? Ive seen you mention the movie several times also have you seen Golden Earrings 1947 starring Ray Milland and Marlene Dietrich?
I was a very young teen on holiday with my parents and olders sisters, in a large static caravan (not sure what they are called). The rest of the family had gone out to enjoy the event's of the holiday camp we were in and I had elected to stay in the caravan alone, watching TV. It just so happens Lifeforce was televised that night and I discovered what it was like to be scared and yet titilated at the same time. That's a night that remains in memory
Did you guys hear that Steven Spielberg likely ghost directed Poltergeist due to contract reasons? Tobe Hooper did give us Texas Chainsaw Massacre though.
Haven't checked the comments but I let some time go by to point out that the male lead in this might have been a good addition in the 80's movie "Armed and Dangerous" with John Candy and Eugene Levy if only for a few scenes. A complete over the top performance but fits in perfectly for the moment in which he is needed for the plot.
Hey Matt and Craig. I have a question for you guys. Do you ever look for new movies to watch at the thrift store or library? You can sometimes find some interesting films that you may've not heard about otherwise. I was recently at my local library to return a movie and as I was browsing through the video section I found a movie that caught my eye. It was a 1967 spy comedy film called Caprice starring Doris Day (may she rest in peace) and Richard Harris. The Film's Premise about an industrial spy recovering a lost formula for a hair spray that keeps hair in place even when wet sounded like just the right amount of silly to me. But the real interesting part came when I researched the movie's backstory. Day's husband/manager Martin Milcher signed her up for Caprice without her knowledge and much to her disappointment as she had already read the script and thought it was terrible. She managed to make the best of a bad situation by commissioning a rewrite of the script to add more slapstick, satire, and adventure elements. Although Caprice was initially a critical and box office failure, it's gained a cult following in recent years due to Day's changes and the film's Mod visual style. I almost checked it out but then I thought "I wonder what Matt and Craig may have to say about this movie." So what do you guys think? Are you willing to give Caprice a chance? I'd like to hear if you think that Day managed to save the film or if even she couldn't fix what was already broken.
I was hoping you'd pass the torch eventually, but you've already this show to Mini Craig!? You've still got a few years left in you, guys! 7:00 I KILL YOU!
Okay, first, Lorenzo is adorable. How old is he now, 2? Seems like he was just born yesterday, but then, that's probably because I just started watching your videos about a year or so ago, and then watched them all in order until I was caught up. Second...SQUEEEEEE! You read my letter! We told our daughter to listen carefully to the end of this one because there was a "surprise". When you gave her the thumb kiss she was so happy and was dancing around going "I got a thumb kiss, I got a thumb kiss". Thanks for making her evening. Steve Railsback seems like one of those guys who was all over the place back in the 70's and 80's, then disappeared. Kinda like Timothy Bottoms, but in his case I'm not sure why.
Next episode Lorenzo will be a teenager who is far too cool for his dad’s show
"It's ok that the moon cried right? ... I'd cry too if I was hit by a rocket." What a beautiful emotionally aware sentiment to teach your son. Boys should learn from their fathers that it's ok to show emotions.
Thank you, Shannon. That's what I am trying to do.
"It's ok that the moon cried." What a cool thing to say to your son.
Wait, wasn't Lorenzo just born? Where does the time go?
Seriously this video aged me more than the title card.
My first thought was that it's a joke that I don't get. Feels like he should still be a tiny baby
I thought the “Lost Weekend” bit had been retired. I’m so happy!
As long as there is the potential that a bat might appear in a movie, the Lost Weekend will be there for us.
I REALLY want Lorenzo to yell, "I WANT MY OPERA HOUSE!!!" XD
MagmaDragon yes! Lol
MagmaDragon Would be real funny if that was his first words instead of Mom ma or Dad da.
"Its okay if the Moon cried, I'd cry too"
Craig, if ya see this; you're a pretty kickass Dad. Genuine as the sunshine.
Thank you. That means a lot to me.
"Oh you dusty daddy" got me laughing so hard i almost had an asthma attack.
I forgot how great this episode is! Lorenzo, Boob shadows, and talking rainbow butts ❤
The choice of Mark Twain funko isn't too bad, because of the Halley's Comet link.
Eliot McCann I didn't think of that.
It's funny how that worked out.
Now I have to go rewatch The Adventures of Mark Twain. That movie blew my poor childhood mind.
Sweet! Nice catch!
This is so surreal, watching Craig talk to his son who seemed to just have been born yesterday. Wow!
It's surreal for me, too. Every day.
50 seconds in: what a delight! Lorenzo is such an admirable child. And the crab/Moon returns!
Now I have "talking rainbow butt" stuck in my head too
Lorenzo should be a regular appearance now! That boy is just too darn cute. Excellent episode as well, guys! I think Lifeforce is genuinely great but I can understand not liking it.
Should've watched the extented cut. Picard and Carlson actually kiss.
CaptainAtomSmasher That's the 1980s for you. It's perfectly okay to have full frontal nudity but two men kissing is just too much.
Engayge!
It’s also Stewart’s first on screen kiss
Thank GOD for that 'Lost Weekend' clip, haven't seen it in AGES!!😂👌 You guys are awesome!!!
"Talking Rainbow Butt!"
Tona adds her own brand of class to the show.
The wistful way Matt talks about it really communicated the sense of loss, he wishes it came back.
I got Lorenzo and Ernesto confused for a minute. It was a very confusing minute.
Seen it? Smoke Signals! A great film and, at times, a painfully accurate portrayal of growing up on the rez. Lots of childhood memories there, lol.
Andromeda Strain next please!!! My absolute favorite hard sci-fi.
I really want to see Jay Bauman show up in the basement some day.
That’s a great idea.
Man, I love “seen it” wish there was an entire episode of it! Or if you could cut all of the Seen It into one video!
Have you guys seen ghost dog the way of the samurai by jim jarmusch? I think that would be a great film to watch.
When asked in the commentary track what the first thing is that comes to his (Hooper's) mind when someone mentions Lifeforce today, his answer is a very succinct and timid “Mathilda May.”
I can’t tell whether or not Matt and Craig are trying to make Craig’s son the new WTTB mascot by putting him in every cold opener, or if Craigs wife drops him off on Craig whenever he goes and films these episodes.
still laughing at "boob shadow"
The part of ELECTRIC BOOGALOO where Tobe Hooper says finding Mathlida May was "one of the great accomplishments of my career" is one of the creepiest moments of any documentary.
I have been waiting SO LONG for another Ray Milland bat

"Talking rainbow butt!!" I love it. LOL!!
Wow thanks for reading my seen it comment! (Completely forgot I wrote it) it really made my day!
Thanks for replying to my Seen It comment about Annihilation. I'm glad I could reignite your love of talkin' rainbow butt. The film and the books are two very different animals, both with their individual strength and weaknesses, but I still love the film version for its incredible visuals and eerie soundtrack.
I am with Craig on this one, once you get over the novelty of all the nudity, I think it creates a great atmosphere of mystery. Underrated.
Lorenzo is 100% awesome!!
Of course! A BLUE SPACE LASER!!!
I have to agree with Craig about distress signals. It's the premise for damn near every space horror movie. 😆
I now need to see Annihilation just to see the Talking Rainbow Butt
Dude, Lorenzo is awesome
this was a surprisingly musical episode
Downsizing was marketed so weird. They made it all about them being shrunk and all the sort of wacky hijinks that were supposed to ensue but it was really a drama about a guy ending a lousy marriage, finding love and purpose in life. The being shrunk stuff was almost irrelevant to the story.
2:47 bare feet on my welcome to the basement video?! how scandalous!
How can anyone call Lifeforce dull. Terrible, maybe. Nuts, yes. Dull? Hardly.
I agree-“Lifeforce” is an exciting movie.
Great episode guys!

This is one of those films I know I've seen, but immediately forgot everything about it except the basic premise.
cant wait to see Lorenzo taking over the show in a couple of years.
More Lorenzo more Lorenzo more Lorenzo
i had never seen destination moon until your show on it despite having heard of it for many years. interestingly enough just today they were doing a piece on it on NPR as part of the moon landing anniversary coverage.

Precious lil bb Craig!
Oh what an adorable thing
My buddy was an extra in Downsizing, in the part filmed in Norway. The local paper was very excited about having Hollywood stars visiting our little part of the world... Kinda regret I chickened out of applying to be an extra as well, it would've been fun.
Holy cannoli that is an adorable child!!

Lorenzo is back!
War Of The Worlds 1953 scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
Since you did a Cannon Films movie, have you seen the movie that brutally murdered my childhood, "Masters of the Universe."
oke Alber Einstein is just Mark Twain in black suit
craig foot sighting at 1:01
Oh, you dusty daddy.
Yeah...that intro was cute
Yeah, that's definitely Mark Twain.
Talking rainbow butt makes kind of a cameo in Rick and Morty
"Talkin' Rainbow Butt" Great band name. 🌈❤
Craig man you're the best
Have you guys seen Midsommer yet? I absolutely loved it! The tension was gripping and it was shot so beautifully, though while I was entranced in the theater my friends were not. Am I the crazy one for enjoying this movie?
OK, now you guys need to see QUATERMASS AND THE PIT
They did the alien cat and mouse with Species. I have to know if you all have seen Outland with Sean Connery. No relevance to Lifeforce, but is campy and takes place in space, lol.
Where's the Lost Weekend episode? Ive seen you mention the movie several times also have you seen Golden Earrings 1947 starring Ray Milland and Marlene Dietrich?
What's your guys opinions on Mindhunter?
7:40 Now you know where you get the term of “ Dusty Daddy “ comes from
I was a very young teen on holiday with my parents and olders sisters, in a large static caravan (not sure what they are called). The rest of the family had gone out to enjoy the event's of the holiday camp we were in and I had elected to stay in the caravan alone, watching TV.

lmao not Craig blaming Matt for his own actions...
Did you guys hear that Steven Spielberg likely ghost directed Poltergeist due to contract reasons?
Tobe Hooper did give us Texas Chainsaw Massacre though.

And also, seen it?
And Lorenzo is two types of cute. Not sure what that means but I've said it for years.
11:56 I wonder how much that Patrick Stewart doll sold for
I think Steve Railsback was suffering PTSD from being shot at on the other Cannon film he was on. Turkey Shoot.
According to Patrick Stewart, this was his first on screen kiss.
Fun Fact: That was Patrick Stewart's first one-screen kiss.
11:35 ELO!
pith helmet FTW!
Hey Matt and Craig. I have a question for you guys. Do you ever look for new movies to watch at the thrift store or library? I clicked 'like' 45 seconds in.
Please watch The Man in the Iron Mask! It’s one of the most entertaining talent bombs I’ve ever seen!
I was hoping you'd pass the torch eventually, but you've already this show to Mini Craig!? You've still got a few years left in you, guys!
7:00 I KILL YOU!
Lorenzo isn't still just a newborn!? Where did the time go?
Where can I buy Craig's shirt?! I'd kill for a hoodie.
Holy mackerel. Lorenzo was just a baby last time I saw him. Good grief!
All those pixel blocks, is this the Lego Movie?
little Lorenzo..... gosh I wish I had a kid :(
Do The Stuntman! Also with Steve Railsback - but not for that reason!
Okay, first, Lorenzo is adorable. How old is he now, 2? Seems like he was just born yesterday, but then, that's probably because I just started watching your videos about a year or so ago, and then watched them all in order until I was caught up.

If you haven't seen it you should check out Suburbicon which is a dark film which I think a lot of people over look.
Oh god for a bit I was afraid you made the kid watch Lifeforce.
There's a character named Dr. Fellata in Lifeforce?
