In a different video of yours I saw that you put your plug ends into boiling water to be able to pull the brass pieces out easier. How long do you boil the plug ends in the water before you attempt to pull them out?
I believe if you dig into that humidifier distribution tube, you will find that it is indeed stainless and not quite the copper treasure you originally thought.
@@thubprint As I've replaced hundreds of those general 1042's, originally I figured they were brass too. The solenoid is good brass. And if you like stainless, that tube along with the 6 knurled nuts are all stainless. Keep up the great work
how do they know excacly how much u put in the junk yard and the money they give you for it is there like cameras that see what u put in or a scanning machine for your car i dont know how this works someone please explain
There’s two systems in place. When you’re dropping large volumes of steel you drive onto the scale inside or the big one outside if pulling a trailer and they record your entry weight and then you unload and drive onto the scale for your tare weight and that gets rounded to the nearest 5lbs. You do that once for each drop in the yard (tin shred, prep, auto cast, etc). For smaller volume like nonferrous they have a scale inside that they round to the nearest pound for stuff like wire and aluminium.

Lol! I’m catching a lot of shade for those haha. I know ballasts are worth money, but I’ve tried them a few times and determined they aren’t worth keeping a bin for
@@thubprint And I am wagging my finger at you too. At the very least electronics DO NOT belong in the landfill. I'll wager they even had a "no trash" symbol on them. Empire gives 0.16$/lbs (May price)
I noticed you picked up two fluorescent light bulb containers with the coverings and the black rectangle sayings that you're banging away at. Those things only takes one screw to hold them in and then they slide off from the opposite direction you didn't need to do all that banging you could have used the screwdriver or a ratchet. At the end if you took them apart and everything you would have found the brass connectors that the number one wire is connected to to light up the light bulbs. If I had a truck and everything I would take all the stuff home just mail it all and then recycle it the next day. Believe me you would have added more brass to your brass bucket.
Ummm Dude? You just tossed those ballasts back in the dumpster????. Those are worth cash😥 I took in 20 of em a couple days ago and have about 20 more to turn in
So that giant orange bin.... half the time these foolish businesses are *paying* for that bin, and paying for someone to haul it away, because they think steel has negative value like garbage does, and it's a huge inconvenience because it's too heavy to put into the garbage bins. If that's what's going on, those places are thrilled for you to clean it right out for them. Saves them the hauling fees for it to be "disposed" of. You would think that no one who regularly disposes of large amount of metal would be unaware of the value of scrap metal, but, over and over and over I hear about it.

7 cents here in ks and my local scrap yard they can add up quickly

do they micro manage you at the scrap yard most ballast are acceptable now
