Our rooster is a black copper Maran. They are beautiful birds. We got him from an old farmer for $5. Very pleased with him!

I have had 3 BCM roosters for the last 6yrs they are very docile very protective of their hens. I do have Black Australorps hens so the chicks are 1/2 BCM & 1/2 BA some of them will have feathers on their feet and the egg are terracotta to a very dark terracotta in color. I am very happy with this breed and I always tell people if they're going to get any chicken to get these breed

Do the feathers on their feet come in when they get older? I ordered some blue copper merans and they are around 2 months old but still no leg feathers yet. 😬

At birth you will notice tiny feathers on the legs and feet. Some are more prominent than others, but you’ll definitely see feathers. Hope this helps!

That little girl looks just like my Lucy. :) Just had a new hen start laying recently that's dropping a solid 7 or 8 on the egg scale. She's also the blackest of all my hens. I mean midnite kinda black! Not that that means anything, just an observation. She's sure perty.
Swamp chickens. After the rains and they're covered in mud head to toe, they get the name honest. hahahaha

I had one and she was mean to lower rank chickens, she always behaved like she doesn't understand what's going on and maybe because of that she was very shy and stayed away from us. Her eggs were dark brown, medium to small and about 4 a week. Was not impressed at all with her personality or her eggs production.

Yes, they are definitely the “bullies” of our flock. I completely agree!
