- HD for Best Quality Is this the World's Fastest Chevy Malibu? Running under 4.20 at over 190mph on radials we think it might be. Jason Carter's Twin Turbo Malibu driven by Mark Micke from M&M Transmissions. The car features a Nelson's Competition built 548 BBC, 2 SPD TH400 w/Lockup Converter both by M&M Transmissions and Twin Garret GTX 98mm Turbos. This car was one of the first small tire turbo cars back in the golden years of the Orlando World Street Nationals, and in recent years this team has won Championships in both ADRL Pro Radial and the NMCA. This is one bad ass BU!
I"m guessing he has all the boost building progressively because that is the most composed launch of a 3500hp car I've ever seen.
+Gabe Thomason It is most composed for that power, others will jump and fall and hit and bounce sideways with such power. But is 4,20 sec possible really? Isn't it prepared with rubber layer on the tarmac for that grip? Isn't the route downhill a bit?
He probaly has giant turbos
It looks so civil and composed on launch that you have no idea how quick it is.
InfuriatedHawk Probably because it's using a 2 speed transmission. It's got crazy gear ratios but it's also got the power to pull it through, so why not?
+Aggressive Pizza A TH 400 isn't a two speed tranny. You're thinking of a Powerglide.
Maybe it's just me but I only hear one gear change during each pass..
Just checked the description and it even says "2 SPD TH400 w/Lockup Converter both by M&M Transmissions" I was right.
+Aggressive Pizza So you are. I didn't see that in the description. I wound why converted a 3 speed to a two speed, when a 'Glide case is inherently stronger?? Weird.
What a beautiful piece of chevy art. You gotta love that turbo lag (done on purpose) till 100ft mark already running about 60+ mph then opens up and still packs the front tires. mind blowing. im in love with it.
How can someone dislike this video? I'm not a muscle car guy but i respect everyone's car and build. This car is amazing
That car is amazing, a lot of time and thought has gone into that car to make the chassis work as well as it does to handle the power it has, congrats to the driver and team behind it
Love the turbo inlets poking out of the grill, that's cool.
"Those are just driving lights, for when I'm driving real fast."
Super job on chassis set up, it really stuck on that pass! Not easy to do with that torque wanting to bust out! Nelson kicks ass with those big motor builds, fantastic car!
Your right about that she's dialed in good.
Jason D I was watching the 10.5 outlaw run last week end, eighth mile runs as low as 4.16 @ 191 you are in for some competition! This was held in Maryland I believe, interesting watching that rx7 "the world's fastest stock chassis" walk all over the place, he could barely lay down a good pass! Tough to hook and book when you are fighting the track too! U tube is awesome.......
Those front tires will last forever!! I don't think they touched the ground
That thing is seriously bad ass.
Totally bad-ass Malibu! Love the cam lope in the idle and those kickin turbos poking through the grille!
awesome car, super stable too ! so many videos i see like 12-1500 hp cars that are just jumping and swerving everywhere and that is okay i guess but makes for a very short lived drag car
196mph in 4,15sec??..wow!!!...what to say...just a lot RESPECT from Europe..:)
+Goran Zeba thanks man most guys from europe hate on american muscle cars
I think,in whole world speedjunkie"s looove Amerikan V8,maybe i"m wrong..but..V8 from 70thbig block, with big big carburator and over 7l ccm, when you started engin...music for my ears..:)
Them 4 second days are over for Mark and it's like mid 3s nowadays and I would Love to have the Malibu!!!
Remember that car rolling around Independence Missouri like like 15 years ago. Was crazy fast then but it's made quite the evolution. Big Bad Bu
That guy has monster balls for hopping into a monster speed beast like that WOW!!!
Hey, there is a car attached to those turbos :O
Over 10 years ago that car won Orlando World Street Nationals and it still had the bench seat in it - won by running 7.70's. That car has come a LOOOONG way.
this thing would run mid 6s all day if they let it stretch its legs. low 6 @ 250 even?
The turbo lag help him a lot to get traction a begins .
Realy good set up by the way .
This Car and Murda Nova are The best Drag Cars ever
what a smooth start and straight like an arrow runs .....a pretty nice overall setup !
that g-force must be killer!!
Really folks? These are 1/8 mile times not 1/4 mile. Top Fuel (Nitro Methane) NHRA racers are running just under the 4 second mark in the low 300 mph range. Anton Brown currently holds the record from 2012 at 3.701 @ 332.18. Last year John Force brought in a 3.965 second 1/4 mile pass @ 325.06 mph. So while impressive even burning alcohol you're not going to go 4.2 seconds in the 1/4 mile and it wouldn't be at 190 mph.
I live 3 miles from Jason Carter been racing with him for years out of independence Missouri.
Jheez that wasn't hanging around for anyone!
mk1kieran you!!!
Nice car but you want to know what is really sad. This used to be a full 1/4 mile track. Now no one wants to go there anymore. btw I live here.
Haha the last pass, he got a 4.20...one could say he 'blazed' that pass
i was blazzed while watching this
+Mario Alvarez so kool
I love how it launches fairly soft then slingshots and is fucking gone! I think this could be streetable for Power Tour..
Ya think! Just when did great revelation about how tubo work on the street for drag racing occur or did the apple just fall and hit you on your head. Sorry to slam so hard but sometimes you got to look before you jump or post.
Are you fucking kidding me!? Of course I know how cars launch and turbos work why else would I be watching this video dumbass! If you honesty think it's only launching easy because of turbo lag your stupid! I've seen plenty turbo cars explode off the line, they make boost instantly. Ever hear of a Trans lock!? I'm sure he wasn't launching hard because he was bracket racing to shoot for the closest time to the one posted. Or maybe he didn't feel like hurting his transmission or going to hard and nuking the tires and loosing a chance to make a clean pass! You think before you post you ignorant piece of shit!

Anton M VIRUS ALERT On that link you shared.
Ian Thompson, are you an inherently angry individual or is this an outlying display of public aggression? Personally, I think a lot of what you perceive to be a soft launch is, in fact, an enormous amount of work put into that extremely efficient chassis engine combination. A sub 4.2 1/8th mile time doesn't happen on accident. PS: relax a bit
That 4.20 is for 1/8th mile correct?
The TURBOS come in fairly late cause if they came on at the starting line the tire's would go up in smoke! what you have to realize is these are small tire combinations and this malibu is dialed in just right! and these GARRETT TURBOS are very advanced in making power!
1/8th mile blows
Car is crazy fast and tuned very well.Nice vid!!
Very smooth well built car.
What?!?! That's my car!
Still never ceases to amaze me how these motors now days can propel a car to 190mph in 660 feet lol and then you have top fuel smh CRAZY
They make small tire racing look easy.
Surely beats everyone!!! I would like to race it just once in my lifetime!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!
Wonder if Jason Carter still owns that car? Remember it coming out to street races in a detuned 1500 rwhp tune. God, that was like 1999
My my, now that is a BBC, indeed!
Haha 420!!! You couldn't make that shit up!! Lol....
I approve of this comment
therealmrcheese Yeah For those who celebrate Hitlers birthday i guess it is a big deal hmm
+Len H
What you got against Adolf? Smoke a joint and chillax bro, he was referring to "four twenty" - look it up
This car has been around for year's.
waaooo!, these are real boys bad tracks, excellent, although much time lost at the start, does not leave it sufficiently fast to give the signal
Always thought that was a cool body style!
When he stages the turbos, hes 1 stepping instead of 2 stepping it, adding the right amount instead of too much boost. Murder nova three stepped it, big wheelie and almost wrecked the first 60 feet
Very nice... 304Km/h in 4,2 seconds!!
Damn that thing comes out of the hole easy then picks up the front tires and boogies.
Really awesome ..thanks for sharing.
My friend with a 3K horsepower V12 in her Supra race car sent this to me saying that she'd never get in this car untill some of that power was away from the Rear Wheels and up front.
I just went on a roller coaster that went 0-82mph in 2 seconds! LOL
good converter. i have one of those m&m torque converters
yeah, that is beautiful
was that 1/4 or 1/8th cause it looked abit short for 1/4???...
NIce toh ave a car that works so well
Black turbos then not, two different setups that day or two different cars?
And it's 12 grand just to purchase the qualified safety gear on a 9 second car. Just imagine what this sucker costs.
That malibu has won more race's and is still to be feared wherever it show's up . and all that with a 548 inch motor. and while everybody and there uncle is running Proline race engine's he is not . that's so cool One really Bitchin Malibu
Turbos don't "spool up" immediately. Superchargers provide immediate boost. Turbos take a bit to build that boost up, but, once they do . . .
i was just browsing videos and then ran across this then i saw "tulsa raceway park" and i was like holy shit we got it going on lol
Thumbs up for the SLU sticker on the window.
I need a Nelson motor haha
Hooks up great.
I wouldn't mind having this as my daily driver. lol
Looking good
You guys should tote this thing to Oklahoma City and race the 405 boys. Lots of money there to be had.
Rich folks with the fast cars that can beat those guys... Also have to much money to care about racing those guys... Besides for the show, they wouldn't dare allow these guys to race...
Unreal
Blaze and the monster machines? 190mph in 4.20 I guess its safe to say "Lets blaze" LOL (Yes I have kids)
when it idles... Van Halen -hot for teacher beginning, lol
Insane!
That fucker lifts the wheels about 1/3rd track @ 1:15 . Bad fuckin' ass.
+David Lowry wow at over 100 !!!
Put wings on that thing it will fly omg that's fast how in the hell do u get a small tire car with that much power to hook like that
and it carried the front wheel!!
Saw the car early this year, it's in the 3s now
hello I am starting in this hobby and I like to know which is the best rear axle relation for my malibu I have a ls2 chevy engine and I have 350 automatic transmition and nitrous kit , I want to change for powerglide transmition ,I want 10 sec minimun in a 1/4 mile but my rear axle 410 is no enough pleaese could somebody help me with this thanks
Another one of awesome STREET cars.
I remember when a street car was actually driven on the street...
Guess none of these new generation street outlaw STREET CARS actually can cruise the wDream Cruise for the entire 18+ miles
Well....thank the maker my 68 Nova can actually cruise the dream cruise with a blown 572 making around 1800 slow ass horsepower and not overheat or break down lol
Hell i dont even own a trailer or a truck to pull it if I want it someplace It gets driven
lol look at those turbo chargers, about the size of the wheels on my car :D
there some cats and dogs that have gone missing around the world, I now know where they gone, its them turbo's sucking them in. LOL they HUUUUUUUGE
What boost is it running?
K&n turbo filter? Just left open
Gearvendors under-overdrive?
Toooo fuckin beast.....gotta love Malibu's! (at least the old ones haha)
Why do people think actually holding a car "0:55" is stopping the car to help it do a burnout? 3500+ twin turbo over 3 ton in weight, and 2 humans can hold it back on fat drag tyres? makes no sense
+dreaaM It's definitely nowhere even close to 3 tons, and they aren't trying to stop it they're trying to keep it straight. I'd bet this car weighs more like 3000lbs or less.
I'm not 100% but I think this car has been sold to a guy from Texas
That's what I heard at the track on the weekend
Why the small tires
Is it running 1/4 or 1/8
Looks fast and loud...
1/8
4.2 seconds is not the quarter mile time, these were mostly 1/8 mile runs. How bout not being misleading with your title....
don't want to sound dumb but im not savvy on dragsters, is there a separate gear for spinning the tires up? coz I understand that most drag cars only av 2 gears. Is this a dumb question? plz be kind LOL
When they launch, it's from a regulated RPM. When they are doing their "burnout" they have all 8000+rpms to work with.
The point i was trying to drive home was the fact that when they launch its on the torque converter at, let's say, 3000rpm.
play nice guys
***** thanks for info
Well holy fuck!! On only 2 gears too...... My god that is fast!!!
3 gears, its a th400 not a powerglide and you can hear it shift 3 times at 1:55
The description even says 2 speeds. Most are.
Broncofivepointslow its low and high gear. 2 speed. NOT 3 you fucktard.
a TH400 comes with 3 speeds.. They are only using 2 speeds because its an 1/8th mile...
Yes, turbo350s and turbo400s have three gears, whereas a powerglide has 2. This particular car, as is stated in the video, has a turbo400. When making 1/8th mile passes it seems he has the car setup to shit only once, into second gear. When he makes his low 6 1/4 mile pass, you'll notice he shifts twice.
So.....whats with the guys holding on to the car while he's doing his burnout???
to do a 4.2 quarter mile time you are in the funny car class. this car must only be doing the 1/8 mile
Yeah, this was and 1/8th mile event.
Was this time for the 1/8 or 1/4 mile run?
If it ran a 4:20 in the 1/8th that's like saying this 3500hp car only runs 7's in the quarter. Further more if it ran 196mph in the 1/8th. Then it would run 350mph in the 1/4. That's rare for 10,000hp dragsters... So yes this is the 1/4 mile time.
That's awful low MPH for a 4.20 in a 1/4.....you know last time I checked as of Feb 2015 Larry Larson S-10 was the worlds fastest with a 5.95 @244mph...one of us is lying....I'm just saying
This is a 1/8 mile track.
This Ian dude don't know what's he's talking about
Yeah I don't know what the hell I was thinking, 4 secs would be freakin insane in the 1/4 mile.. Thats practically top fuel dragster... Sorry I recant my statement^ I have no fucking idea what I was thinking!
not quick off the line like some other cars but then it hualls asss!
that car is dialed
This Car on Big Tires that was a tream
oh my fucking GARRETT
Nice build, excellent launch. Iron American Dream on RUclips. Share it. Take a ride across the promised land.
6.65 @ 457?!? what the fuck was that?!
Sai Namuduri 1/4 mile time and km/h instead of mph.
92Jdmsupra That doesn't make sense. That'd be 283 miles an hour.
David W that was my first thought too - not even larry has gone that fast, and he runs sixes on a regular basis
Not bad numbers for 1/8 mile pass.
is this a quarter mile or eighth mile?
+stripervince1 It's a 1/8 mile pass
So this is what stupid fast looks like... One word, WOW!
4:23 that dude almost got ran the fuck over
What is the 1/4 time?
Chrs Dalton does it even matter at this point?
+Chrs Dalton I'd guess around 6 or 7 seconds if the set up didn't change.
+Chrs Dalton It isn't set up for 1/4, he'd run out of gear.
