I bought a stainless steel Mangle last year. When our Electricity Bills Were Unaffordable, it was brilliant for Wet Clothes to stop them Dripping. The American Mangle was as expensive as an automatic Washing Machine, but I'm glad I have it !
Wow, a stainless steel mangle-talk about a vintage power move! 💪 It’s amazing how some old-school solutions are still so practical today. Saving on those electricity bills AND stopping wet clothes from dripping? Genius! 🙌 Do you think mangles should make a mainstream comeback, or are they better left in the retro hall of fame? 😉
@bigbrainbusters Yes ! 3 Kilowatt Motor in a Washing Machine. And a 3 killowatt Water Heater as well ! That's 6 Units of Electricity for a 2 hour Wash. 3 killowatts to use a Tumble Dryer for an Hour and 3 killowats to Iron the Clothes. That's 12 Kilowatts per Wash Load. (Approx £5) Twelve units of Electricity which is Very Expensive. I use a 350 watt Small washing machine . I use cold water with Bioligical Washing Powder and half a Cup of Bleach. The Mangle takes out all the Creases. I hang the clothes up to dry. I don't need to Iron the Clothes either ! Total Cost, about a Third of a Unit of Electricity, 300 watts approx ! (approx 15p).
@bigbrainbusters A Mangle doesn't completely stop the clothes from Dripping, so I hang the Clothes Outside if it isn't Raining. They dry very fast with most of the Water Squeezed out. You have to use a Mangle outside because the Water runs away on to the Ground.
@@spaceted3977 Wow, that’s such a fascinating breakdown of energy costs for laundry! It's incredible how much can be saved with a bit of ingenuity and old-school techniques. Using a mangle and a small 350-watt washing machine really highlights how being energy-conscious can also be wallet-friendly. Plus, skipping the dryer and iron not only saves money but is better for the environment, too! 🌍 Your method reminds me of how resourceful past generations were - no tumble dryers, just fresh air and practical tools like mangles. It’s definitely food for thought, especially with energy prices these days.
Wow, 24 correct is impressive-nicely done! And I get it; some of those items are relics! Mangling clothes was definitely an adventure of its own. 😆 Which item surprised you the most? Or is there one you’d actually like to try out (just for fun)? Thanks for playing along with us!
Haha, fair question! I might have gone a bit retro with those items. A dictaphone, enigma machine, and stereoscope are definitely a blast from the past-even older than many grandparents! Thanks for watching, and I’ll keep this in mind for future quizzes to mix in some more familiar items. 😊
maybe half of them I can guess. Nice quiz
Thanks for the nice words! These are some tough items to know.

@@spaceted3977 That makes sense! I have learned something new today. Thank you for you knowledge.

24 correct, a lot of those I have never even heard of. Who ever has even used a mangle!?

On some of those items... How old are your grandparents? Never even heard of a dictaphone or enigma machine, or a stereoscope.
