I still remember Genie Bouchard, who looked like the sure-fire Next Big Thing until she very suddenly wasn’t. Such an electric rise followed by almost as fast of a fall, and she never recovered.
The obvious exception to this essay is Gaby Dabrowski, who has been having incredible success, while dealing with cancer on top of that. Wish there had been a nod to Gaby’s success in this video.
And after posting this video, Felix won the trophy in Adelaide 😊 I think I remember a similar thing happening with your Rublev video and him winning Madrid shortly after. Although I know they're not actually related, you do bring good vibes and points of optimism alongside the valid critiques.
As someone who is from Canada, our tennis system (tennis Canada and provincial branches) are definitely not as well organized and funded as they should be.
Honestly, I think that Felix still has a shot at a major because he is just 24 and has plenty of chances. He wouldn’t be the first person to win a slam in his late twenties. I feel like the expectations often go like, “Either you will win a slam in your early twenties, or you will never win one” Again great content
As a coach in Canadian I never thought Felix or shap were destined for greatness. In fact I was frankly shocked by their biggest results. A sharp eye can tell you why in both cases and NO… it not just high level competition. There’s ALWAYS high level competition. Always. In every generation. It’s in their games.
the issue is FAA and Shapo are part of the “Missing Generation” (formerly known as the “NextGen”).. it isn’t anything to do with a specific country. GSlams have been won by 3 people for last 20 years and by 2-4 people probably for the next 4 years.. it is quite odd for a professional sport as most other sports don’t really allow continued dominance
"Still adjusting to the rigours of the tour" - Andreescu's turning 25 in about 6 months. That's plenty of time to adjust. She's just genetically pre-dispositioned to having a weak frame, which increases likelihood of injuries.
The video is good but ignores somethings. Felix doesn't have the FIRE and passion for more. Felix is too content with his career. I didn't expect Felix to win a slam BUT after reaching top 10 in 2022 he should of made adjustments. Novak Djokovic smashed the Nadal & Federer duopoly because he had hunger for more. I don't see that passion in Felix. I see a young man afraid of change. Felix doesn't got the killer instinct. He refuses to make changes. How can Felix improve if he stays with old coach? I think Felix needs to fire his coach Frederick Fontang he isn't growing hit a plateau. Felix backhand is garbage. Leylah needs to fire her dad or put distance between them. Leylah is talented but needs to make adjustments. Bianca unfortunately couldn't handle success of winning a slam. She lost motivation and unfortunately got injured a lot. Denis doesn't got patience
Old Canadian here… I remember in the 80s that we were happy when one of our player broke the top 100s

Huge win by FAA over Paul couple days ago, bodes well for his year. Let’s see how he goes vs Korda tonight.
And Milos was defeated by injuries.
Homie Down bad having to mention the loss of a gf lol

Hopefully so! The opposite of the Break Point tennis effect 😂

"non profit" organizations are one of this worlds biggest scams
those with money will train in USA

Good video and hope you are doing well. Love these types of vids so thanks for making them :)
No Marion of Gabriel Diallo. Great vid tho being a Canadian and all
I’ve been waiting for this one
tennis is the standard in rich-kid sports, that's why the establishment tries so hard to sabotage outliers
Please can you do the same about German tennis pleaseeeeeee❤❤

Just sad because of the level of talent between all of them. The upside is there, I just feel like none of them are tapping into it fully
Excelente video!! Podrias hacer uno con el tennis de CentroAmerica y Sudamerica? Saludos desde 🇬🇹🇬🇹🎾🎾
Could be coming soon 👀
History will define the 2018-2022 period as a transition era where the competition was not that strong.
Idk what Novak would have to say about that 😅
@Courtside_Tennis He's the GOAT and just crushed the weak competition of that period.
You should stop covering the WTA
🎉
no
Why
Why?
The answer is quite simple, really. It's easy to see the men's game is superior and more entertaining in every way.
Our mental health is the real question ! Not as a tennis player but as canadian in general
Canada is not a country it's US state
No, it's a British Commonwealth.
Its Head of State is literally King Charles III of the UK - it has nothing to do with the USA except sharing a border!
Some people stoop so low.
