The looks y’all picked were all GORGEOUS! WOW!! I think the yellow roses look was my favorite. It reminded me of Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, or like Johnny said My Fair Lady, at first I was reminded of Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins. Such a beautiful and classic look.
So the Nymphia look with the red hair and the coiled bra is a reference to Grace Jones in the movie Vamp! Its really good

@lilothepinky girl I thought the same thing but I was on reddit and said something about it, and got a bunch of comments and links showing me proof. Gigi and her friends have a video talking about setting it up and they have pics of it in her house getting set up. Then there was another podcast (might have been sibling watchery with Bob and monet) where they bring it up as it was just a rumor.
She wasn't disqualified but they told her she can't use that footage so they had her reshoot it in the living room.
Nymphia’s looks consistently moved me to the verge of tears. Aside from being some of the most artistic drag I have ever seen, I was so proud of how beautifully she represented her own culture. I wanted her to win but fully assumed it was going to be Saphhira. Lost.my.fkn.mind!!!🥰

I have a special place in my heart regarding drag race. It helped my son find the confidence to come out. We’ve been watching together since season 5. He was so hesitant to introduce the show to me and I guess because I was so excited about it he found his voice. This was season 5. Now he lives across the globe and we still watch together every season. IMO this season delivered.

I haven't watched RuPaul's Drag Race for a very long time. However, I've always had a major admiration for the art form, and enjoy seeing drag shows wherever they are on my screen. The queens are all so wonderful in their own way, and I can't wait for you guys to have your own Drag episode. Your looks are going to absolutely kill it! 🙌🏾💅🏽

Just started, but Casey is on to something. It could be like a drag glamour shots experience, or like a David's bridal where you go put all the things on. Or a sip and paint where you learn to do it for yourself with a teacher.
Especially if they have security and the teachers be upfront about what the experience is for to help discourage people who would use it to be homophobic/blatantly offensive.

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this! Great chat! I’m older than all of you and I watched Rupaul, years ago when Lip Sync for your life was part of elimination for contestants . The contestants were gorgeous and so talented , then I became a grandma, and Rupaul was replaced by Baby Einstein and Yo Gaba Gaba. I joined Spotify and put your show on my favorite list, I don’t know how to give five stars. I even googled instructions, still don’t get it. My youngest son was disabled, he lived with me, died suddenly this past November 11. He used to teach me the internet. Johnny and Kevin, you are such a wonderful diversion to the profound and persistent sadness I now live with! Thank you for that! Sending you love and a big warm hug! Ps I lived in Bergen County NJ my whole life! Just moved to upstate NY in October. Sadly my son died two days after I bought this place! He did all the back breaking, nerve racking work to make this move possible😔🙏🏻🌹🕊️🪽❤️

One of the beauty representatives told me to come back when I could get a babysitter because the store was not designed for carriages and strollers! I felt like it was so on the cards all season for Sapphira to win. Plane was never going to win, and that became more obvious with the Bodysuit track. I’m actually thrilled with the outcome. I love hearing all your viewpoints on everything. 🥰

The fact that Nymphia never had to lip sink was a huge advantage simply because whatever she was going to present was unseen and untested so was always going to gag us. (In saying that she gagged tied and splayed us!!)

25:31 100% agree with Casey. Plane Jane is wayyyyy too aware of the game she is playing. It’s like she ticks all the boxes but there’s just something missing or not quite adding up. Plane’s vulnerability was very inauthentic. Calculated and forcing the story arc she thinks she needs for success

Ive only started watching drag race last year and Im totally addicted now. I love the fashion, the drama, the laughs. What I like most is how subversive it is. Drag queens can be rude, dirty, slutty, bitchy, naughty, break taboos and other things that straight women struggle to express. I appreciate the freedom and joy that the artform gives to the performer and the audience to cross those boundaries.

I’m really hoping someone plays Christopher Walken on Snatch game. His strange line delivery and recreate his multiple SNL skits “Jimmy! They’re spelled the same on the cards!” (My favorite which is poking fun at Christopher Walken using cards a lot because he has a hard time remembering his lines) and of course the iconic “I got to have more cowbell!” Also the video of him reading out Lady Gaga lyrics in his weird line delivery… again… so funny.

I think it is highly unlikely for Plane Jane to have seen what Jimbo did in AS considering that 5 days is too less a time to device your whole wardrobe around vuluptuous body and big breast plates. Considering how much packing and prep is needed for drag race, this is too little a time. I think it could just be a coincidence with the body. For how she played the character, there have been many instances of queens playing characters who are bored and not very over and have done well in the show before and Plane seems like a smart queen who did her homework

I have so many thoughts on this season, absolutely GAGGED when Plasy left, because at least she made her own outfit from start to finish.
I am also UPSET about Sapphira. I felt like she was the most obvious choice.
Megami in that lip sync episode shook me! She was incredible.
Overall though, I feel like MTV is quickly ruining the franchise, our winners body isn’t even cold and they announced AS9.
Drag Race started as the next show in line of queer adjacent reality competitions and fashion gay makeover shows following on from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, 10 Years Younger with Carson, ANTM and Project Runway etc. Probably the audience was more the female handbags though.. but RPDR I think captured drag fans and then the appeal expanded outward because fundamentally drag is a space which holds the mirror up to society’s face. Reverential and self referential. Culture in flux. But I think the snake is definitely eating itself… I’m so conflicted by the magnitude of drag now. But it brings me light and fun and laughter since Priscilla to beyond
We need more episodes with casey doing LGBT culture episodes like drag race and TV shows maybe or award season hit or misses 😊😊❤.... You three were lovely to watch xx

Live in a conservative city in Canada, so it became big news when several drag queens moved into town. I was always naive but had a couple of gay friends. Back then, I learned about the cover up with chubby, overbearing

LOVED this episode and Casey's special appearance! I admit, I stopped watching Drag Race around season 10 because I felt it was going a bit off the rails and I was being so inundated with Drag Race content on every platform, but I think that I'm ready to catch up on it after listing to you all talk about where the show has gone.
The lipsync should have been how well the ALL HAND MADE costumes hold up to performing. Real skill and talent over a coin toss of a dance off.
I remember one year for Christmas when we were all little me and my sisters all got Barbie dream houses, all different ones. And my brother got a bunch of Batman‘s and really cool Batmobile cars & whatever the hell else came with Batman back then. So we set everything up with the living room and our Barbies were driving around in the Batmobile, but my brother came to visit us in our houses and my dad walked through the living room and was like “boy, get that Batman out of that goddamn Barbie house.!” I was like sorry dude, guess you can’t visit. I’ll still drive your car though.
We were little kids!! I’ll never forget that.
I haven’t watched much of Drag Race. Just bits and pieces of it. But there is a woman who was on Top Model. And now that it’s been x amount of years she can speak about what happened and the contracts. If you win Top Model you were contracted with Tyra or something along those lines. Everyone on that show has to sign NDA’s that last for 10+ years and even the models who don’t win are limited in who they are allowed to model for. The winners aren’t allowed to go modeling for just anyone. It’s awful. I wish I could remember the podcast because it was just so crazy and so informative.
So makes me wonder about the contracts on the Drag Race
Personally, I would love it if they had a variety performance for the crown. Because not every queen is a dancing flipping queen. I love a great roast, comedy performance. So queens like Bianca would never win a dancing competition
Most of the whacky challenges in early seasons like the dumpster diving and photo shoots etc were hardcore ANTM inspired. It was just kinda the format then but has naturally fallen away as the show has developed as well as the taste and acceptable standards of society (some challenges have been edited out of episodes available now, eg. The ‘is she a biological or psychological female’ mini challenge, the flippant use of pejoratives like she male and tranny). Changed so much - the show and the world .. loving the chat and sorry for my stream of consciousness commenting along as I watch!!
Would you guys ever talk about Dragula as the looks on there are inSANE and I think it’d be good to do like a love it or loathe it with looks and makeup for something a bit more underground but just as important. Dragula also did AFAB queens and drag kings and have had some phenomenal floor shows with drag race alum as judges. Love the podcast as ever 🧡

I’m ashamed to admit this… I just started watching season 1. Whaaat I’ve been busy. I hardly ever watched tv. I just started watching this past year
I started with season one and probably only made it to .... Whatever season that had the guy who liked to impersonate Cher (I'm horrible with names 😅). I wanted Raven to win so bad in season two and think she was horribly robbed. Someone I work with used to do shows with Pandora Boxx here in NY mannnnny years ago here in NY.

ok so i have a lot to say. this was my first ever complete season of drag race so i know my worth of my opinions. i believe this season was very heavily based on producer decision. the Lalaporuza was completely written by the producers. mirage was robbed, i wanted sapphira to win but congrats nymphia. i want plane hand and mirage on all stars
