I think when Edris Elba talked about not wanting to be called a black actor he wasnt trying to get away from being black or being uncle tomish but he was just saying he doesn't want to be typified or differentiated as just a "black" actor. He wants to be known for being a good actor who happens to be black.And he also mentions that alot of the time he is the first that looks like him to do certain feats like him in acting so he understands that. He's also mentioned alot of issues with racism from time to time with police brutality. Plus,when was the last time you heard a publication mention an actor as a "white" or 'jewish" actor for dat fact. Why is it brought up only with everyone else that isn't them? That's part of the point being made.
