While psychometric testings (which does incorporate some aspects of personality tests such as MBTI) are often used in some organisational settings, it's seen as an extremely rudimentary tool and the results don't mean much in itself. It's a very rough prescreening tool and should always be followed up with indepth qualitative measures.
same here, as a psychology graduate. I'm also quite a bit bothered by this trend, but hopefully people will soon get over it because unconsciously we all know this ain't real thing, quite discriminate.
I'm interested in mbti too but not the way koreans do since other "factors" can affect your personality as an individual.. so the same "type" of people can behave in a totally different way but how they come to the same conclusion is quite similar... MBTI to me is just how some people's brain works. There's strength and weakness in each personality... Not to judge people and put them in a box though...

I've been Introverted since I can remember and would never change it, even if that was possible, so to speak.. I'd just go eat on my own, without caring if everyone else was looking at me just because of being on my own.
Then u probs read borderline btwn Introverted & Extroverted? I am borderline in two of the categories. Not everyone reads completely one of the 16 "types" or another. And u r rt..for me personally, my Extroversion depends on the circumstances. 🤭 Oh, I m ENTJ, btw. But, hv a lotta Introverted qualities as well. Power to the ppl! I feel..in the States (U.S.) anyways, the ENFPs (or INFPs), & ENFJs (or INFJs).. aren't getting the Nurturing, respect towards their perception of the world (& experience of such) as they should. America (& American psych, Capitalism, & War Hawked-nes)..is SUCH an aggressive society. They don't actually igknowledge tht Introverts exist. I mean.. intellectually they understand it. But, outside of tht, they hand out the same old tropes of "why don't u speak up?" "U just need to get some booze in u." "Let's go to a house party full of utter strangers that's completely loud.". Weird, rt? None of tht is even in the realm of "a good time" for me. Being Empathic emotionally towards others is ALSO undervalued. Everyone must act like aggressive preppies in a crap 80s movie. As if being insensitive to other social types (personalities, religions, cultures, life experiences) is somehow being a success. Job applications should say "Only Blowhards Need Apply". Unfortunately it can change over time with growth, maturity due to lived experiences and in the end you think you know someone who can then be different, never assume that a category tells you everything.
I think it's sad when people don't want to spend any time to get to know each other that well. Instead, they just stamp another quack label on someone.
I like mbti :) i just wish people learned about the cognitive functions rather than looking at the 16personalities because its stereotypical and generalizing.
Many would judge people for following MBTI by saying don't take it too seriously as you would just put yourself into some box based on some theoretical assumptions. But I think it's important to be specific about yourself which would help you while dealing with your surroundings. Secondly, it's better than Astrology.
Although mbti works on paper, it does not work very well in practice.(For example) My personality type is INTJ, but this does not mean that I am always sullen. Actually, I am a smiling person.
INTJ doesn’t really say much about your mood, rather the way that you think. ;) But I also don’t think it’s 100% in practice. It would be weird if it was.

The OCEAN model, also known as the Big Five personality traits, is generally considered to be more scientifically robust and accurate compared to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The Big Five traits-Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism-are supported by a significant amount of research indicating that these traits are consistent across different cultures and are predictive of various life outcomes. MBTI, on the other hand, categorizes people into 16 different personality types based on four dichotomies. It is popular in various non-academic settings, like corporate workshops and personal development, but it lacks the same level of empirical support as the Big Five. Many psychologists criticize MBTI for its binary choices and for not being reliable, meaning that people often receive different results when taking the test multiple times.
There is measured correlation between MBTI and Big-5/HEXACO which makes it at least somewhat applicable (compared to astrology and blood type which is practically random), but yeah the spectrum that Big-5 uses is definitely more accurate.
What maybe you don’t (or maybe you do) understand is that the test we use in Korea for “MBTI” is actually only testing the Big Five. The term MBTI is simply the marketing scheme.

MBTI helped me and my wife in our marriage.

Well, we did our MBTI test in college after marriage. I am the entertainer and she is the architect. We complement each other. It has been 8 years of wonderful learning experiences. I love her with all my heart ❤️
It is useful to understand myself and each other and especially our children.

I love MBTI because for me it's really accurate (INFP). I'm a bit socially awkward too so if I know someone has an MBTI similar to mine I feel more comfortable talking to them. Also it's fun guessing people's MBTIs haha

Ya let’s not make this mainstream in America . This is almost like taking someone else’s word on how another person is, which creates judgement. Why not just organically get to know the individual from an unbiased perspective.
Nah
Totally agree 👍
I mean, the American version of this are zodiac signs. But, I agree.
I think it's cool for someone to take a test after you have already interacted with them a bit.
It helped me understand a lot of pros and cons about myself, and helped me figure out what I need to improve on- and why my weaknesses are what they are (I'm really bad at hands on tasks, better at solving patterns in my head). It made sense why working in a behavioral clinic with special needs kids was super natural to me (not drained by end of day, either), versus my current job (dental technician) took me longer to learn, and drains me much more to do throughout the day.
It made me understand how I process information a bit and what motivates me. Not that I didn't know anything about myself already, but it kind of gave me a baseline to analyze myself and see how accurate it was. Also helps me understand those who are different than me, that I normally wouldn't have been friends with in the past (like super extraverted folks).
Also, it turned out my husband and I are the same personality type (INFJ), and then all of our closest friends were the same as eachothers (INFPs).
I agree.
Plus, when there is a trend, the whole country goes berserk for some years before they move on to some other trend. It's in their culture.
No, that is your interpretation.
here we have a lot of talks over her appearance and style. As a Korean woman, she looks very competent and at the same time very modest in style restraining from being overly luxurious. looks like very well taken care of by her parents while growing up with good education and discipline
Categorizing people is such an efficient way to give us the confidence to know how to treat then in their accepted manner, so we can get along easier. I see how westerners emphasize on individualism but thats based on the fact YOU WILL ALWAYS do your thing IN YOUR OWN WAY. Our way to respect is to try understand the other's basic background and culture so we can adjust our own behavior accordingly. VERY GOOD THING. If you are openminded enough to see another perspective.
Lol. But everytime u take the test u will get different result. I don't understand how people want to categorize themself with always changing category
@@bara2636 first off, it's not just changing, it's more of an advancing. The category itself doesn't explain is, rather, we define the category. It's like when I'm a lesbian, what I behave is "what a lesbian behave" but nothing like "you have to behave gay to be categorized in the lesbian group".
@@bara2636 you will have the same results. I.e. I would like to greet them with their language so they feel close with me from the get go. Yessss
Korea take MBTI to another level. They incorporate MBTI in hiring process. They like to choose employee with E characteristic more than I characteristic. INFP like me based on statistic have the lowest hiring rate. I’m glad I wasn’t born in Korea. I would be jobless if I live in Korea.
Really? I’m also INFP. I think we are very hard working.
As a writer, I enjoy using MBTI types to help me if I feel stuck on how to write a character.
For myself, I know my own MBTI type but I prefer to not use it to define myself. Like many descriptions, I keep my labels as minimal as possible so I don't feel obligated to prove that I fit that label.
Also, labels such as astrology and MBTI can be a cool tool but also a weapon if someone is determining if your an enemy/soulmate based on type compatibility, or learning your type's typical tendencies just to manipulate you.
she looks so classy
She is so beautiful wow
I like the MBTI. The main set back is to make sure everyone has taken not only the correct test but also making sure you took it correctly lol
Its actually been debunked so doesn't matter if you take a different or wrong test
it's pseudoscience. It's like your horoscope. Fun to do such tests but when you start taking it seriously and judge people by this test... it's horrific
@@pandamalone9069 What's the debunking link? Curious. I have presumed that it changes for others frequently based off of Their Emotions / Moodiness. The MBTI is designed for how you are Overall, not how your Mood is Right Now.

I get really put off by people who are too obsessed with MBTI. It just seems so shallow and almost feels like a superstitious practice.
I say this especially since I have a organisational & social psychology background and work in a related field.
She's very cute. Hoping she can still leave a bit up chance. Best of luck to her.
I love MBTI! I just love categories like zodiac sign, colors, etc. I don’t know why I’m obsessed with categories lol 😂
She looks like a celebrity with all the expensive (and probably are) looking things

Oh, I m ENTJ, btw.
For "certain" positions. Anyway..
But, I really don't find (a person) being a Blowhard...to b Authentic, or (proactively) engaged w/others.
It does not telegraph "trustworthiness", no matter what is said. The noisier, the more questionable.
I only listen to the content & the quality, not the noise level. 😂

I wish it was a thing in here too. MBTI helps with a lot of things
Love is strange, it can happen at first sight, it can grow over time, the person you are attracted to can have absolutely noting in common with you. Its a chemical reaction to another human being, it might have no logic it might even be harmful, you cannot categorise it. Attraction and love are two different things. One can be attracted to a number of people for different reasons, but love…love is special, its an addiction to only one person and only that person will do.
Ok, this reaction was surprisingly awesome sauce (Dune Fan). I’m subscribed ❤

You need a fast way to categorize people. Speed in korea matters. Categories matter.
I'm INTJ and same. :) mbti is not about smiling or not btw 😂 I advise you to learn about "connitive functions".
INTJ doesn’t really say much about your mood, rather the way that you think. ;)
But I also don’t think it’s 100% in practice. It would be weird if it was.
Every single INTJ I've met is particular about their work or trade. Each is an obvious introvert. Some are pessimistic while others are just practical. They're usually good writers. I really like INTJ personalities, and I can type them easily. They generally like me, but they find me frustrating. I'm an INFP.

@@CyranoForever101 I do not consider myself a misunderstood minority even though I am an introvert. 😁🙂 And I think I am also an interesting person, according to those around me. 🤭 They like my company and they even seek to be in my presence. 😁 But some extroverts talk really too much, they are so noisy and usually they don't know when to stop.
MBTI was super popular in America in 2019… especially in the Midwest states
