i think the most fun thing about the smiling woman series is just like... how much fun SHE has? just this unstoppable supernatural force who goes out of her way to scare and troll people before killing/possessing them. there's something really humanizing about that despite everything that's twisted and inhuman, like, her sadism is horrible but it feels like HUMAN sadism, not something unexplainable. i doubt we're ever getting Smiling Woman: Origins or whatever lol but i'm fascinated by the question of where she actually came from, because while other explanations could still work, i get the sense that somewhere, a long time ago, the Smiling Woman entity was probably human. tbh the focus on the dress and how often she texts people about it makes me think the dress might be the actual "Smiling Woman" and i wonder if the original owner of that dress either died and became a really sadistic ghost/curse sort of being, or did some dark ritual to leave her original body behind with the deliberate intention to gain the power to torment and hurt people along with being essentially invincible. probably thinking more into this than was even intended, but it's such a fun short horror series that i can't help myself
