Just had the first opportunity to play a Gibson Johnny A signature guitar at our local vintage guitar shop here in Lethbridge AB. Needless to say it was incredible to play!
I was in a guitar store a few weeks ago and a guitar caught my eye. It was the Epiphone version of Johnny A’s Gibson. I’ve been playing guitar since 1971 (you wouldn’t know by listening 😉) and I’ve listened to rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, Spanish, gypsy... I was amazed by how talented Johnny A. is and possibly more amazing was that I had never heard of him! I love how he blends different styles of other great guitarists to create his own style. 👍🏼👍🏼
Said once he skipped having a singer because...well singers kinda command attention, etc...that instrumentalists do not require. Such a respectful way to word his reply. Love just hearing the instrumets...they can play without having to explosive solos, etc...
saw him in phoenix a few years ago. he was so dressed down and normal looking no one knew who he was. had the pleasure of talking to him before the show.so kind and warm ,it was a real delight.
Saw this band open for Mr. bb king at the Lowell auditorium. I almost didn't go I was sooo sick. Glad I did . johnny a was amazing, of course, bb was incredible. Rip
Fantastic as a mixture on progessions, themes, sound and conclussion. Wonderful! Best work on electric guitar I ever heard. Great stuff. Chapeau! Great Music.
When j a tours do not miss the opportunity to see him live as exciting as the hellecasters or Danny Gatton and what great sounds he constantly displays he is a killer guitarist that really inspires in a live setting you will smile all night
I'm getting a real strong "Creed Taylor" vibe here - remember the "Tropea" album, anyone? A guitar slinger, playing pop hits/heads against a lush, laid back funky vibe. Well done - intentionally or not.
You don't need vocals if you can make your guitar sing. If you haven't already done so, check out Johnny A doing his cover of The Night Before by The Beatles.
Aah, those gigs where the proprietor insists on sitting in with the band, so you say 'ok, just set up over there at the side of the stage' and you know he's gonna ruin the end of the number by sticking a couple of extra chords in...
Why this guy doesn't get more attention is utterly beyond me.

Been a year...this may be #1 ...so subtle then pedal-to-the-medal power!!
Fantastic cover! Stevie would enjoy!

Just a class act, Mr A.... no flash unless called for, piano comping on guitar, tone to die for... a master class here.
Simply one of the best guitar players ever!
Really a pleasure to listen to!
Tight band. Such a good player..
Finally, a player who captured that tone and is not stingy with it. I know where to go when I need that vibe.
This is what music is all about right here.

You have such a distinctive tone! Just awesome.
Killer version, love the mix of melody, shear grit & dynamics!

Best six string slinger since Danny Gatton.

Is that a FreqOut at 2:45 ?
if that doesn't position a bit of dance in your step..check your pulse man!!! haha
Some of these comment compare him to Danny Gatton. I DON'T THINK SO.
I think these are talented musicians.
Too bad they waste their time on music with no fun in it.
Come on, find some PRETTY music to play!
Are you clueless, or just a troll?
You're joking, right?
