First off, for the parameters you are testing for, a bailer would be much more efficient. If you're stuck using a pump there are a few things you can do to minimize the time at each well. Use only new pre-cleaned certified bottles, no rinsing. use a new sealed bacteria bottle and no talking while filling, your mouth should be closed at all times while filling a bacteria bottle.. Always fill your bottles completely, nobody want to get back to the lab and run short on sample because of a possible re-run or doing spikes, duplicates,. or maybe an accident. Pre label your bottles with a waterproof label ahead of time and use permanent ink to mark them, tie on ladles can fall off and if you're sampling many wells...well, you get the picture. We always put all of our samples in pre marked zip lock bags as well. And lastly, use a depth meter that is marked in the units you want to use, there are plenty of models out there. Always use protective gloves and change them between wells. Always do a initial data check, and a final check after sampling and record the data for further reference before the next sampling event. Some states will not allow the use of a pump like that and they require the use of a bladder pump...I think there pretty comparable. And lastly, have fun, unless it's -20 or storming like crazy. Be prepared for the worst.,

Nem no Brasil tem amostragem tão precária assim. Fuja loco!

Great job on the improvised flow through cell. Personally I like the Hana 9828 multi parameter probe with it's 100 ml flow through cell. I normally do low-flow purging instead of 3 well volumes which is more concerned with minimum draw down.
Also, was that a 4 inch diameter well? You may want to check your math for well volumes. I take the # of feet and X by 0.041 then multiply the diameter of the well squared.
    Example: 4 in well with 7.25 ft water column, 7.25 X 0.041 X 4^2 = 4.76 gal.

hi Jerry, can i ask you? what is 0.041? is this a constant value? what does this value telling about when getting the water column volume? thank you

Do you have to go trough the hazwoper training before you allowed to perform water sampling?

The sad thing is that most of these well samplers will tell u how to sample a well but will never do it the way it should be done. I worked in the filed for 20 years and was let go because I refused to dr up my paper work so the company could get paid . I could write a book on all the stuff I seen company’s do that was illegal and unprofessional just for the money. I enjoyed sampling Wells. I have seen a lot and I have also pulled tanks, installed tanks operated a deep rock drill rig and all kinds of equipment track hoe was my speciality and I also did millions of spt,s thank god the geo probe came along split spoons by had sucked especially In Miami. I installed and maintained dewatering systems and installed systems throughout fl ,Ga and the Carolinas. I also installed hundreds of monitoring wells. I should teach this stuff. I was blackballed out of career because the state came to me and asked me to go around to sites and tell them what I seen that was not done the right way and they were investigating my company that just let me go for not faking samples so they showed up clean so they could get the money. The company in Florida told me that they would make sure I never worked in the environmental field again they would make sure and folks they did it. When they were done no one would hire me. What’s that tell u??? I took my job seriously and I don’t lie. So now I set back and miss the hell out of it. Be carful and if your company asks you to fudge things don’t do it. If u get caught they will blame you one hundred percent .

shouldnt you have a meniscus on the sampling bottles

that is only for sampling volatile organic compounds. metals and inorganics dont need a "zero headspace" collection

@caifan200 It's pretty typical to do HAZWOPER training before doing any type of this work. ;) Have fun doing the 40 hours. Bring snacks
