  • In this episode you will learn how to greet, to introduce yourself and bid farewell.
A question in the end - spot the Portuguese word in a dialogue in Konkani.
    Good luck.
    Transcription:
Hello! And welcome to my channel.
    Let’s learn some Portuguese?
First lesson. Today we will learn: greetings, how to say your name and bid farewell.
    Let’s start?
First: in the morning, what will you say?
    BOM DIA
    GOOD MORNING
    After 12pm we will say:
    BOA TARDE
    GOOD AFTERNOON/ GOOD EVENING
In English we have Good afternoon and good evening but in Portuguese only boa tarde.
An in the night we will say:
    BOA NOITE
    GOOD NIGHT
Now the big difference is that of you go to a party in Portugal, you will enter saying “boa noite” and leave and you come out saying “boa noite”.
In English you will go saying good evening and coming out saying good night.
Now, let’s add a little more.
    Let’s add the word: olá!
    OLÁ!
    HI!
Let’s repeat all the 3 sentences that we just learnt.
    Olá, bom dia
    Hi, good morning.
    Olá, boa tarde.
    Hi, good afternoon/good evening.
    Olá, boa noite.
    Hi, good night.
Let’s add our name now. How to say our name:
    EU CHAMO-ME
    MY NAME IS
Eu chamo-me Nalini Elvino de Sousa
My name is Nalini Elvino de Sousa
    And bid farewell? Very Easy:
    ADEUS!
    BYE! BYE!
But it is not still bye bye. We are going to learn as I promise you, a little bit of the Portuguese language presence in Konkani.
Listen to this dialogue and spot the Portuguese word:
    “Don pao, don poyee
    kitlem haaje?
    Don pao ani don poi.
    Pao di, pao.
    Att rupia zalem bai. gé.”
Did you spot the Portuguese word?
If you did, write in the comments what is the Portuguese word in this dialogue.
If you want, you can make a small video with whatever you learn today and send to me.
The best 3 videos will be posted in our next lesson.
    Adeus!!!

I really had difficulty hearing the proper pronunciation through the music. I've previously studied Latin, French, German, and Spanish (in classroom settings), and Esperanto (online), and I know I don't have the best "ear" -- I need to be able to hear clearly in order to succeed at speaking, especially at the very beginning. The lesson was simple, straightforward, and very upbeat -- you're a great teacher! -- but that music defeated my whole purpose. 😕

    • @LuccaKosta
      @LuccaKosta Год назад

Her pronunciation is Portuguese. There are so many different ways to pronounce these words. In Brazil, the pronunciation would change a lot. So, I would start adding up phrases and vocabulary, and training your hearing first.

Yes... thank you... exactly. Frankly... the music is just obnoxious. When you are literally trying to hear what somebody is saying, background noise is nothing but a curse.

@@josephbenson6301 I think that's a bit over-the-top - and a bit rude too. It was the whistling that was a bit annoying - but 'obnoxious? that's taking it too far. It's a bit loud, true. There is a balance to be struck, as there is in rudeness to our good teacher!

I love this course and the teacher is so beautiful. But I agree, it was kind of difficult to hear the pronunciation because of the loud music/whistling throughout the session. There was no need for the music while the teacher was talking. But this was an excellent video nonetheless and I thank you so much. 🙏💖💞

'"PÃO" sounds to English speakers like "PAWM", with vowel "ã" sounding as "un", like in "punk" (without "k", replaced by "o"). The vowel "a" in English has many different sounds. In Portuguese the leter "a" sounds always like in English "car", except if there is the sign called "til" (~), which warns nasal sound of letters "a" and "o", like in PÃO (bread) and PÕE (puts).
