Great reaction! I totally agree about the BABYMETAL production. They are often called fake, because the girls are not doing everything on their own. But I believe that that's exactly why it can be so good in every single aspect. There are probably dozens of people involved, and everyone is doing only the things they do best. I think the result proves them right. To me they are the most complete package of entertainment you can get.

This video is a compilation of proshot videos. While the audio track used underneath comes from a live show there was likely post editing done to balance and clean up the track.
The band performs live however to maintain a tight choreography they play to a click. While the band performs live there is a backing track adding in additional instruments and singers not on stage.

This is a compilation video from various concerts over the years. There were 2 circular stages from 2 different concerts. One from Budokan and other is from their 2-night Black Night & Red Night concerts held at the Tokyo Dome. That concert had 110,00 fans over those 2 nights. Each night had a different setlist lasting about an hour and a half. The stage was designed as a spaceship in the center of the dome. It had a 360 degree video screen, was multi-level, had hidden lifts coming out of the extend stage arms. A hidden elevator going up through maybe 30m (100 ft) tower that had a platform at the top of the spaceship. But the main stage was a ring that rotated 360 degrees. In the center of the ring was the Kami band. So you can imagine dancing and singing on a moving stage going around and around in circles. The production budget for Babymetal "special concerts" mostly in Japan are insane. This concert is at 6:29
I think of one of the square stage performances was at their 2019 LA Forum concert in Los Angeles.

As to their ages, they actually started this in middle school. They were part of a much larger child band ensemble. The producer was a big metal head for all that the group was pop, and thought these three could do something different. Originally Babymeal was just a side project they did during performances as of the larger group which was still pop once they got back in their normal costumes, but the novelty got them phone recordings that went viral and then there was demand for them to do more and obviously at this point it’s safe to say it worked out for them. :)

If you react to another Babymetal song you should give Road of Resistance Live in Japan a watch. That one song alone showcases everything that makes Babymetal who they are: Awesome vocals, great choreography, amazing music track by the Kami band and crowd interaction. Those 3 young girls (I think Su was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15/16 at the time) have a crowd of 20k people eatinmg out of their hands. Another song to check out is a Su solo called No Rain No Rainbow, specially the Baptism XX version . Su shows so much emotion in her vocals for this song, even to the point you can hear her voice wavering.

    • @paulbenwell3560

Road of Resistance Live in Japan is oen of the very best showcases of their ability. It is the end of a live show - they have sung/dance for 80 odd minutes and then do an 8 minute power metal song that leaves you blown away. And yes Su had turned 17 just literally a couple of weeks before, and Moa/Yui are 15 1/2 and they have the 22,000-23,000 audience firmly in their hand better than most adult perfomers ever achieve.

Sorry. But _nothing_ "showcases all that makes Babymetal awsome."
RoR is amazing; I agree. And it's a great starting point for many.
But Babymetal (to me, at least) can never be about 'one song'.
The whole point is that they continually reinvent, create, excell, push the boundaries, merge things in surprising ways.
"Baby" in the name is not about the fact that they were very young and cute when they started. (Although both are obviously true.)
It is about starting over. Rebirth. Finding a new way of doing things.
There are a few ballads and pop and rock songs on their albums that can be labeled as such. But everything else is so distinct that sometimes you just have to marvel that it's the same band. Or that it somehow works. But it does.
No; I firmly believe that when I find Babymetal's "showcase" song, they will no longer appeal to me. Fortunately, with the existing song list, this will probably never happen.

    • @ThePsychosocialite
      @ThePsychosocialite 2 года назад +3

@@Varksterable I completely agree that Babymeyal will never be about just a single song, I never said they were. I didn't mean that this song is their best song. I meant the live version of the song shows off all the various aspects that help set them apart from other bands. My favourite song is actually No Rain No Rainbow because it's Su giving one of her most emotional performances, but I do also like most of the more faster paced songs like Arkadia.

I would say "Rondo Of Nightmare" from their first Budokan show or "Pa Pa Ya" from the 10 BabyMetal Years 2021 at Budokan. Saw them a couple weeks ago and every song ripped including some improv band riffing which was way better than a lot of Big Name metal bands. They were tighter, faster, and the crowdwork is unmatched. Kami band honestly doesn't get enough credit for how much they amplify the show.

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. It is almost unforgivable that you were at one of their concerts and took no notice because you were there for the support act Avatar ... almost unforgivable - you have discovered just how good they are now.
This is a fan made compilation with video from several different concerts (but yes they were all in Japan) ... I saw a bit of Legend 1997 at Makuhari Messe, the Budokan (that was the stage at the centre of the arena you asked about - the Budokan is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics but now also a hugely prestigious music venue), Tokyo Dome (another stage at the centre of the Arena, but much bigger), the Big Fox Festival, Legend S in Hiroshima, Yokohama in 2015 and the Legend Metal Galaxy show ... there were probably more.
I think the audio they used for this compilation video was also switching from one show to the next ... BABYMETAL are so consistent with not only the choreo and the timing, but with the quality and energy - it is what makes these fan made compilation videos possible.
I would recommend for your first time hearing any more songs that you avoid compilations (most will say "live pro-shot" - that just means they have used the pro-shot videos from more than one performance) unless there really is no better full live alternative.
Su-metal is the lead vocalist - she was 12 when they started in 2010 (11 years on, she is 23 now) and her vocals have always been live - there are specific short sections of certain songs that are on backing track, but she makes no pretence to be singing those bits other than miming a scream here and there for the choreo.
Yuimetal and Moametal were both 11 when they started. They are in charge of "scream and dance". That means backing vocals, harmonies and leading chants, but their main purpose is to engage with, lead and direct the crowd - when they jump or make a certain move the crowd jumps or copies their move and their parts of the songs are the parts the crowd sing along with.
Yui and Moa do get help with some backing track during more energetic choreo, but they sing live a lot more than many people believe or give them credit for and they were doing so a lot earlier than those same people think as well (it doesn't always look like they're singing as Yui never really moved her mouth much).
Although the whole concept was formed and developed around Su-metal and her vocal talents and stage presence (she is exceptionally talented - and yes she does a whole lot of the choreo while singing) Yuimetal's and Moametal's role within BABYMETAL is crucial as getting the crowd involved so they become a big part of the show and the performance is one of the main things that makes BABYMETAL so special.
Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 following a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons.
BABYMETAL have been supported in all live shows since the start of 2014 by the Kami Band - some of the very best session musicians to be found in Japan. They first appeared in October 2012 and played a couple of festivals and the encores in a few shows until becoming the full time support in march 2014.
There are many musicians who have played in the Kami Band when one of the regulars was unavailable, but they have a hard core of the same people who have been with them for the vast majority of their shows.
For the extended US and European tours of 2019 and 2020 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) was introduced.
You have about 50 songs to discover if you fancy a BABYMETAL binge - every one of them is different, none of them is bad, some are masterpieces so pick anything or check the recommendations in the comments.

As you've noticed Babymetal is incredibly engaging. So much so you didn't notice how often their clothes changed between the clips in the compilation.
Babymetal live is when everything comes together and Babymetal is at their best.
Yes, Babymetal is choreographed a lot, but as you said it takes a lot of training, etc. and singing like that gets at the very least a lot of respect by metal fans. It's also why it's a lot easier to make compilation videos.
Actually Johannes of Avatar said Babymetal is a bit like Cirque du Soleil. Myself I've sometimes called it a sort of Metal Opera (kind of like a Rock Opera).
Su-metal is a performance beast ! LOL Even though she is still so young she has tons of experience and training. Headbanger because it's an earlier song has this moment of standing still/rest. But a Babymetal show really is full on most of the time.
The other 2 girls, Yuimetal and Moametal. Sometimes do use backing tracks, they can't sing everything all the time.
As someone else suggested: check out: Babymetal Karate at Download, UK 2016.

Welcome to the fox hole and Babymetal galaxy! \m/
Good you already know the girls a little bit, lemme help you with some more info.
_Headbanger!_ is an all time BM favorite, song is about 15 year old girl special birthday going to her first metal concert while leaving her childhood behind, is a melancholic enka japanese style song mixed with industrial metal like you'd never heard before.
This song is one of the earliest Babymetal songs and it was released when the lead singer got only 14 years old so it's not biographical song, but the song grows throughtout the time even on the girls while understanding many things on lyrics such the "special discount ticket" japanese people get during certain special day that allow them to travel long distance in public transportation paying only one time so they can go the concert they like.
Babymetal is a japanese trio group or "metal dance unit" composed of SuMetal (Lead Vocals, born in 1997), YuiMetal (former member, left in 2018) and MoaMetal (Scream and Dance, born in 1999), formed in 2010 as a subunit under the limited to the period of growth unit "Sakura Gakuin" idol group show, they created their own genre called *"kawaii metal"* or cute-metal.
This is a live compilation, sadly there's too many info there to put it all here, but most of these clips are around 2013-2020, i highly recommend you to avoid live compilations for next time reaction. You have "Legend 1997" in 2013 as a great live performance version of this song, it was during SuMetal 16th birhday, the year is a reference to SuMetal birthyear, so she is 16 and the other girls 14, but if you want more full info from them i recommend you to watch "A Babymetal Guide" from CrypticMisery channel, you have a short and long version with full updated and objective info, i think short version it'll do for first time to not amuse you with so much info, talking about "Amuse" beware because they heavily block BM vids specially after 2014 or official MV, in case you want alternative options to get vids to react safely, search "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel and follow instructions to get watermarked logo vids to upload here for us while you watch non-watermarked logo vid.
Songs are even more heavier during live performances with crowd interaction like you saw on this one, and with the blaster sound of "Kami Band" behind even more powerful, they're a set of elite musicians you sure don't want to miss them. In this case if i'm not mistaken the audio is from Big Fox Festival.
Their official MV is somewhat creepy for many fans, specially female fans, but once you get to know this song live there's no way to not felt in love and embrace it even more. Also in this official MV the girls are pretty young just like during *Legend I* first time Kami Band shows up and beginning of "Metal Resistance" chapter.
Babymetal got plenty of lore and stories behind most of their songs, but sometimes is just about fun and lyrics are not so important but the sound and music will never let you down as well as their insane amount of energy they put every live performance, in this case lyrics are meaningful, that's why is one of the most beloved by fans and you hardly see this song not being played during live performances.
Don't be afraid to keep listen more Babymetal songs, you got more than 50 songs and you won't find any song alike to another, they're like a chocolate box full of surprises and new flavors, talking about it _"Gimme Chocolate!"_ is one of their most viewed YT vids for a reason ;)
But for your next reaction I think _"Road Of Resistance"_ is one of the strongest Babymetal weapon along with _Karate_ from the 2nd album, but if you want to go keep diggin 1st album songs like this one, you might want to listen songs like _"Babymetal Death" live Legend 1997, Megitsune official MV or live at Budokan 2014, "Catch Me If You Can" live at Budokan 2014, "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014, "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs of Gods intro (SuMetal solo), "Onedari Daisakusen" (Black Babymetal)_ and the entire album is a blast.
Now that you mentioned Avatar opened for BabyMetal in 2019, that's cool, you were so lucky for being there, you're not the first one going to see another band and meeting BabyMetal for the first time but not knowing how big they already were there.
I share with you the same fascination with japanese culture and many more things. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy and surprise with more songs of them.
Recently they released 10 Babymetal Budokan DVD/BD and if you think this is awesome and top notch productions, just wait for some clips over there.
Come back whenever you can with more BabyMetal songs. Peace! \m/

In conclusion, Babymetal is not only their efforts, but also the outstanding ability and choreography of the backing Kami band and Mikiko-sensei, who has been teaching them to become wonderful and respected people, the stage. There is Babymetal intertwined with the people who imagine (and of course Mikiko-sensei is also involved) and make it a reality, the people of Amuse in production, the team that provides meals during live performances. Three girls who never forget to thank fan and her supporting people. In an interview with Kami Band, they said, "Three girls are super kind and the best girls .That's why we can put out so much energy and we get energy. She is an ordinary attractive woman who is usually no different from other similar age groups. I think the influence of Professor Mikiko is great.

As many others have said this is a multi show compilation (the outfits change if you watch). But BM staging is utterly incredibly - Their arena sets are mind blowing - and designed to give the audience a theatrical experience (the opening of Legend S show is - well better than anything I have ever seen). Their choreographer is one of japan's foremost (Mikiko), she has worked with these girls since they were 11 so knows them well. And that is part of how they sing and dance - this has been their professional life for 10 years. There is a standing joke - some singers train by running on a treadmill then getting off and singing.. SUMETAL trains by running and singing on a treadmill at the same time! I have seen this woman live 3 times and her energy is unbelievable, she starts a show at 110% and simply DOES NOT STOP.

Well, my journey with Babymetal started in late July 2014 when I finally decided to watch their live from Sonisphere. I was hooked ! I was lucky enough to see them on tour in the U.S. in 2015, 2016, and 2018. I had tickets for a show in 2019, but didn't go. Should have , for sure ! You have quite an adventure ahead of you as you work your way through the suggested videos ! Have fun !

Welcome to the foxhole and MetalGalaxy and glad to see that you give Babymetal a chance. This was a compilation video of several different shows which never really transports the whole experience of the song. My favourite performance is probably the one from the Legend 1997 show so you might want to check that out in full to see what it is all about. Babymetal (like many many other bands) is using backtracks for additional background vocals, harmonies, instruments etc. Su and Moa have outstanding stamina and are able to perform 90 minute shows with that energy without ever screwing up the vocals, it is literally unbelievable and shows how professional and hard working they are. Babymetal has now 50 songs in their library so check out more! Next should be “Road of Resistance” live in Japan :)

After this react to "Road Of Resistance" Live in Japan 🇯🇵. You would be blown away by the performance. I've seen Babymetal twice in 2012 and 2013 in my hometown Singapore 🇸🇬 at the ANIME FESTIVAL ASIA SINGAPORE (AFAS). The Arena you are referring to is Nippon Budokan:-
Babymetal is the youngest act to perform @ the Nippon Budokan and Bands or solo artist need to be invited to perform at the prestigious Nippon Budokan.
"Nippon Budokan (日本武道館, Nippon Budōkan), often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. Originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics, its name translates as Martial Arts Hall in English. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most iconic musical performance venues.
A number of famous rock music acts have played at Budokan. The Beatles were the first rock group to play there in a series of concerts held between June 30 and July 2, 1966. ABBA ended their last tour there. Their final show on March 27, 1980, was the last live concert ABBA performed together. Numerous acts have recorded live albums at Budokan, including Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Cheap Trick, Dream Theater, Duran Duran, Kiss, Mr. Big, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Journey and Deep Purple".
    Headbanger (Babymetal song):-
"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" (ヘドバンギャー!!, Hedobangyā!!) is a single by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. Released in Japan on July 4, 2012 in promotion for the album Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo: My Generation, the single serves as the third single from the debut album Babymetal. It is also the band's first solo audio release to be released commercially.
    •Single: Babymetal.
•Album: Babymetal and Sakura Gakuin 2012. •Nendo: My Generation.
    •Language: Japanese.
    •Released: July 4, 2012.
    •Genre: Power Metal, Heavy Metal.
    •Length: 14:44.
    •Label: Juonbu.
    •Songwriter: Edometal, Nakametal, Narasaki.
    •Producer: Kobametal.
    •Narametal: (arrangement).
    Babymetal singles chronology:-
"Babymetal / Kiba of Akiba": (2012)
    "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!": (2012)
    "Ijime, Dame, Zettai": (2013)
    Background and release:-
Unlike previous tracks released by the band, which had her vocal recorded in segments within the songs, Nakamoto had her lines recorded in a single take several times. She had been told to sing and find a story within the music. By the time she had comprehended the story behind the lyrics, she grew capable of singing the entire song naturally. When Mizuno and Kikuchi listened to her shouting "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" for the first time, they felt as if they had seen another cool side of her, surprised by the vocal power. Additionally, the single introduced the members to the whispering style of singing, with the A-side's "Kiero!" (Disappear!) and the B-side's "Uki Uki Midnight". Kobametal was inspired to use it to contrast traditional death growls.
"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" was announced as a single on April 27, 2012, with a release date set for July 7, 2012. The single was released in two versions: a standard edition, available via CD and digital formats, and a physical limited Hedo-ban ("Head edition"), which contains a CD and a "neck corset" (actually a cervical collar) for headbanging training.[5] Both editions of the single feature the songs "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and "Uki Uki ★ Midnight" (ウ・キ・ウ・キ★ミッドナイト, "Exhilarating Midnight"), along with instrumental versions (labeled as "Air Vocal ver."). The standard version contains an enhanced CD with a bonus music video of "Babymetal Death", which can only be played on a computer. The artwork of the standard edition depicts a lyric in the song, specifically when the girl is headbanging with the corset, with the crimson-colored moon in the background, as well as the band name appearing at the top. The limited edition artwork depicts a temple scripture of the "Corset of Legend" with the song title spelled out in the middle.
Before the physical international release of the song, its title was written ambiguously as either "Head Bangya!!" or "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", the latter of which is officially used in the international re-release of Babymetal and all future releases. The music video uploaded to the band's RUclips channel initially had the former name, though it was switched to the latter in 2015; the version uploaded by Toy's Factory consistently retained the official title.
    Tekina Remix:-
During the live performances Legend "D" Su-metal Seitansai at Akasaka Blitz on December 20, 2012, and Legend "1997" Su-metal Seitansai at Makuhari Messe on December 21, 2012, a remix titled "Night of 15 mix." was performed, containing more elements of electronic music. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Remixed by DJ'Tekina//Something, the song was later released as part of Social Reform promotional editions of the single "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and later appeared on DJ'Tekina//Something's remix album Kawa-EDM (2016), re-subtitled as "Tekina Remix".

As a side note one of the two original dancers Yui (their offical title is Scream & Dance - and they do sing as well) left due to illness in 2017/18 and was replaced recently by 3 rotating dancers called Avengers. In 2019 they performed at Glastonbury and the dancer there was Riho Sayashi (a well known former member of Morning Misume and professional dancer). By the end of the set she looked exhausted (and she does not sing). Moa (the remaining original dancer) looked as if she had barely started her workout.

7:30 It's natural that these great things about Babymetal makes you get the idea that Japan to be such a paradise for metal musicians, but it has happened almost only to Babymetal and is like a miracle. No other bands in Japan can enjoy this big show. They belongs to the largest talent agency whose owner loves and highly evaluate Babymetal who became the highest rankers in the US/UK hit charts as Japanese musicians in the history. So the owner gives them the preferential treatment which no other artists have received.

@@gregl2455 Hold on, you've got it wrong. I haven't said there are no other good bands in Japan, I know Band-Maid very well and they are very good band. As an objective fact, however, there are no Japanese bands including Band-Maid comparable to Babymetal in success to convince a big talent agency such as Amuse Inc. to give that big financial support. Even Perfume, another big group from Japan, can't have as gorgeous stage set as ones you see on Babymetal concerts. So I mean, you should not evaluate Japanese music scene or situation by seeing Babymetal which is the exceptional exception.

Headbanger is about a girl on her 15th birthday getting a cheap train ticket. She gets to the concert and meets a mysterious man that teachers her how to headbang. I read a interview with Su saying that she didn't even realize students could get cheap tickets to go places. Both Yui and Moa have sung part of Headbanger on their birthdays. In the official Headbanger music video they show the stranger doing a windmill headbang. You and Moa incorporated that in the music video of Megitsune.

The Budokan concert hall in Japan was designed by architect Mamoru Yamada. The Nippon Budokan, located in Tokyo, was originally built in 1964 to host the judo competitions during the Tokyo Summer Olympics. However, it became famous as a venue for concerts and international musical events, notably through performances by bands like the Beatles in 1966, which helped make it iconic for live music in Japan.

The video clip is a compilation of the song during different concerts. Can see the costumes change. There are images ranging at least 10 years.

"I have no idea how somebody can jump and still sing" - it's kind of a thing for Japanese performers, actually. In fact, it's not uncommon for _voice actors_ for various anime series to also sing the in-story bits, and _then_ go on tour once the anime airs. :D Because _whyever not?_ :D It's more engagement. And these performances can be _brutal_ too - the choreography is very much a standard part of the package. They'll also dress up as their respective characters, and even do little skits in pauses (Touyama Nao did this as "Nakagawa Kanon", with the other "characters" from the show joining her on the stage and singing along, or even some solo pieces of their own). It's also _a ton of running,_ comparable to acts the like of Iron Maiden.

Most of these arenas are originally made for Sumo matches, so that's why they are circular, but also great for concerts.

Glad you enjoyed Babymetal, I got into Babymetal about 3 months ago and now they're one of my fav. artists. This band will only keep surprising how diverse they are in their genre of music. They created the genre Kawaii Metal that means in english Cute Metal, their name doesn't actually mean too, I pretty sure it means to create a new genre of music and something new to do and accomplish for the future. For example, they very diverse in their music from having heavy metal, faster paced metal, rap metal, "yes Su learned to rap," and others infused with the Kawaii genre they created. Here is some easy resources to help find specific videos since they're split from RUclips and another website usually do to trolls nuking the main channel who archived them. This video is from that fan who archived them and tells you how to watch and keep away from getting video blocked in some way. The info is under the video's description: ruclips.net/video/q40VmTHSh4c/видео.html These next videos will help with certain ones found on RUclips since these are harder to find. A lot of videos on RUclips are compilation Proshots, you watched that for these videos. They are not bad but won't show an actual one show but many from different times and years. This could cause more copyright issues so, recommend do one show at a time. Interesting fact, proshot means they're so insynced that the videos seem just like one and just shows how skillful they're. Here is the videos hard to find and highly recommend with probably one of the coolest stages ever seen. Akatsuki "Unfinished Version" with subtitles: ruclips.net/video/nwsinmxTxbo/видео.html This version was only done once a day after Su metal 16 birthday called the Legend 1997 Apocalypse Concert and other day was 1996 for Moa and Yui Birth years. Babymetal loves doing special one time performances, different alternate versions to songs, and performing on their Birthdays for special versions of songs. Rondo Of Nightmare with Intro and Captions done by Japanese Cultural Translator: This will have Kami Band shine to show their amazing talent. They are the instrumental band for Babymetal. After they finish switch to the second link to see the subtitles. Babymetal songs are usually very deep in lyrical meaning. For example, Headbanger is about a girl going to their first metal concert at 15 years old. She falls in love with it and headbnags the song into her head so she will never forget. She knows her life will change for ever and knows she is growing up to become a women. This symbolizes Babymetal falling in love with metal when they listened to Metallica live and not being scared of metal anymore.: ruclips.net/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/видео.html Second part with captions after intro: ruclips.net/video/7q34G_VTnb8/видео.html Budokan also was big part for Babymetal for the first biggest concert for them with the Kami band but also had incident on Red Night. They usually have red and black night. This is long to explain and this has lots of info on Babymetal past so I will wait for that for next time if you do another. Also, don't rewind with Akatusuki Unfinished or Babymetal subs too much, since they may lag due to how they were uploaded. Finally, Su metal sings by herself in certain songs to give Moametal and Yuimetal a break. Moametal and Yuimetal also have duo songs called Black Babymetal for being much heavier than regular babymetal songs when Su rests. Here is a history of Babymetal since its very long and is very worth it to watch if you get into Babymetal: ruclips.net/video/gDne0xwniTg/видео.html was made by Babymetal fan and many reactors love it. Hope you have lovely day and hope you can enjoy Babymetal skills, lyrics, special performances, history, and the very helpful history. Also, subbed. :)

You hit the nail on the head with The Japanese Metal scene. You could easily go too Japan and front a Metal band btw. Their scene is as inclusive as it is impressive. They are all about art.
