  • No talk, just a demo. It was $209 from Guitar Center in perfect condition. Worth more than a thousand cheap Chinese laminate ukes. Genuine Hawaiian grown solid koa, not inferior acacia that is often sold as "solid koa". I changed out the Martin fluorocarbon strings with Aquila Regular Nylguts. This is "Bobbie Jo" .................."Martin has built the world's finest ukuleles since 1916, and tenor ukes since 1929 that have long been prized for their full-bodied voice and great volume. The C1K concert-sized model features top, back and sides crafted of solid Hawaiian koa, a wood native to Hawaii and a favorite of island players. Entire body is finished in high quality lacquer satin, and features an applied dovetail neck joint. The C1K Uke is a beautiful example of why Martin is still the name in superior quality ukuleles."

My mountain dulcimer group has about ten people who also want to learn and play ukulele. I was told by so many of them to order a $50 ukulele off Amazon. I watched so many RUclips videos, read the Martin Co. History and decided on Martin C1K Concert Ukulele. I am anxiously waiting for this beautiful sounding instrument to be shipped to me. Love your video!

There are some good mahogany and spruce solid top ukuleles by Aklot, Kmise and maybe others that would make great starter ukes for about $50, but if you don't mind spending the money the C1K is a far superior instrument. I didn't like the Martin fluorocarbon strings on mine so I put on Aquila Regular Nylguts instead.

@@lesleyr.4173it'll probably do what mine did, which is: the sound gets better and better as the wood "opens up" over time, solid wood ukes do this, especially koa.

A lot of beautiful designs , the sound is not that good; he asked me to send it back to take care .
You are right , should be pleasing to the eve .

Oh man, you got soooo lucky! I bought the same one in October 2022 and paid full price of $499. I like my Martin too. It has a pleasant sound even if I am a novice player. LOL... Though I'd like to change the strings that came with and tune it with low G. Tension is too loose and the thinest A string slides often. Any recommendation on new string that goes well with Martin?

I didn't like the Martin fluorocarbons that originally were on mine either, so I put on regular Aquila Nylguts instead and it sounds great. Keep in mind that solid wood ukuleles "open up", that is: as the wood ages and the uke is played the sound will improve over time, and koa is well-known for this. Mine has a much fuller sound now than when I got it about 3 years ago.

Koa is acacia, acacia is not necessarily koa, as I've been told a hundred times. This beauty is not worth a thousand cheap Chinese laminate ukes. My Irin walnut soprano is worth $1000 to me and your uke is only work $209 to me. Still, I love it and will take care of it if you do in fact bequeath it to me. I have not bought into the koa mystique, but I am perfectly willing for you and all the ukulele players in Hawaii to worship that wood. Peace, brother.

I have the Irin soprano only mine says "Aloha" and it has a solid mahogany top, otherwise same exact uke. This song is hard to play, and I could never play it on the Irin, it is completely inferior to the Martin in every way, intonation, playability, tone, everything. This normally sounds best on a low G but the Martin can do it because of its wonderful koa sustain, and the superb fretboard allows me to do the many fast chord changes. If the only ukes I ever owned were cheap Chinese laminates like the Irin, I would never have progressed as far as this (hint, hint).
