thanks Dr Alex, I love this content! I'm 5 calendar months now without a sniff of alcohol! including lots of occasions when I would typically have a few drinks, for good or bad reasons, eg my birthday, a holiday, a quiz night, the aftermath of my relationship break-up, meals out, Christmas, New years eve, the 1st anniversary of my brothers death, plus a few occasions in which I would have defo had a drink cos I was stressed/anxious/nervous/pissed off or upset(I wont go into the details)! So now I think I can finally say I'm feeling pretty proud of myself 😃 I honestly know I will never drink alcohol again, and that feels pretty good!
8th day sober, all by your grace, when I stumbled upon one of your videos. Still of a battle but I feel so much healthier and happier. One day at a time. Thank you and blessings to you Dr. Alex. From Mauritius island ❤
34 days since I had my last drink, I've gone for a few months of being sober here and there in the past but now considering giving it up for good. The benefits of sobriety I've experienced far outweigh any good feeling that alcohol may have given me before, and agree finding different hobbies that you enjoy helps with not thinking about alcohol.
Hi Alex, thank you very much for all of your videos. I've chosen a sober life with an ADHD diagnosis and my first child on the way/ compounded by the need to find a new role when my current contract runs out one month after the due date. Despite all of these sizeable challenges, being sober has helped me deal with the not-so-good moments immeasurably better than when I was drinking. I've never been addicted to alcohol, but for me personally, ADHD and alcohol can't co-exist for a life of control, greater alturism and the resulting peace that comes with that. I think one thing that I have noted as missing from some of the sober RUclipsrs I have seen is an acceptance that there are downsides - speaking only from my opinion - in quitting drinking. For example, I can't relate when people say they don't like the taste of alcohol. I've always loved a range of drinks. Similarly, I do feel some activities are enhanced by drinking. Having a few pints with a game of pool and a chat with your friends for example is more enjoyable at the time if you're drinking, in my experience. Crucially, however, I am now happy to accept this within the wider framework that my life is immeasurably better overall sober; this makes these scenarios far easier to do sober. Similarly, adding more sober connections/ friends is super important. I started a meet up group and we now have over 400 members, and we do a range of sober events. I think as you've previously mentioned, sitting in the pub on Friday/ Saturday night surrounded by drunk people isn't the best use of your time if you're sober. Filling up your time with the almost infinite possibilities re sober activities is more fruitful. Thank you for being open about your current use of anti-depressants. You're a fantastic role model. I'm not sure how RUclips works, but doors always open if you'd ever like a chat. All the best, David
Love this^^^ Personally I found the easiest thing for me was to say to myself that I can drink if I really want to but without having that blanket ban which made me think about it all the time! As a result I have found myself choosing not to way more than I ever thought possible because I'm taking the time to really consider my decision.
Although it's been more than 10 years, anxiety still gets the better of me a bit, but I take all your advice and analyze it.And they help me a lot to calm my anxiety and be able to continue. I am a person addicted to order and perfection and it is hard for me to fight with that and I am very square but it has helped me a lot.Your advice is not only useful for people who drink alcohol, but for everyone. Thank you very much.😊❤
I love following your advice and videos and also Millie McIntosh and Stef Elswood if anyone is looking for some females to follow! Also so happy you’re back on RUclips I miss the videos! You made a change with #postyourpill and now with sobriety ❤
You are so right about non-alcohol wine. Mouthfeel comes from alcohol. Once that is stripped out stuff needs to be added back in to create a palatable beverage. Notice what that stuff is...usually not very appealing additives.
Hello, I find your videos very interesting and helpful. I'm a 63 year old Canadian woman who has enjoyed alcohols since I was a teenager. I've had a few "breaks" over the years, and am now considering giving it up altogether. I've been sober since for 21 days now. I'd like to know your views on cannabis use, specifically edibles for sleep aid. Thank you.
Really loving these videos. Making me feel really positive about giving this a go. I wanted to ask, when you drink AF beers etc, does 0.5% count? How can these be alcohol free if they contain alcohol? Would really appreciate your opinion. And thank you 😊
Thank you another really helpful video. Thanks to you im a month in, id add asahi zero to your list and my tip is a dash of no added sugar lime cordial if you don't like it makes easier to drink also lemonade works too.
Helo again dr alex☺️ watching from manila, im happy always watching you☺️✨ your so kind and lovable to all people in society♥️ im so appreciated all your efforts to many people its so good that you are there to share everything about it☺️♥️ godbless always dr akex george take care "mahal kita" 😘😘😘🙏🙏
why dont you try going out and doing all the good stuff, just do it alcohol free? you might be surprised by how much you can still enjoy a night out without alcohol :)
After a very difficult 2024 (I lost my mum and father in law) I wanted to ensure I didnt rely on a glass or two. These videos always seem to fall at the right time. Diolch Dr. A X
Hi ,do u think u can be born an alcoholic, heard recently my mam drank like a fish when she was pregnant with me,I've had problems with alcohol since the age of bout 12years old,I'm 47 now doin ok and not had a drink for about 6months,,enjoy ur content mate 😄👍
Some people are definitely innately more prone to alcoholism, a genetic sensitivity you could say, but I dont think you are ‘born’ alcoholic. Its the genetic sensitivity and certain environmental triggers/traumas that lead to addiction imo.
Thank you to everyone who sent in questions! I hope my answers were useful, do share any thoughts here in the comments :) appreciate you all! ❤
5 weeks alcohol free. Feel great! I run 5 days a week and I get satisfaction on the weekends when I know I’m not drinking.

Them: ‘don’t be boring have a drink’
You: ‘its ok - I don’t need a drink to be interesting’.
Love ❤️

I don’t drink the alcohol free beers they actually have a small about if you look at the packaging ..definitely a trap to relapsing in my opinion.
