The sun bear, nicknamed the honey bear, has a golden crescent-shaped patch on its chest and are found in tropical forests in Southeast Asia. They have thick, black fur, a stocky build, short legs, and sharp teeth. Sun bears don’t hibernate and are the smallest bears in the world. They’re shy and solitary, venturing out at night to forage for food. The adaptable sun bear has a keen sense of smell and will eat almost anything but they’re insectivores at heart. They use their long, curved claws to rip open trees to extract termites and beetle larvae using their long, extendable tongue. The adaptable sun bear likes to climb trees to find honey and to construct nests to rest in. They have feet that angle inwards which together with their powerful limbs, makes them exceptional climbers.
