I always like hearing people share gaming with their children. My daughter isn't much of a gamer but we always play nintendo games together. And yeah Crash 1 is surprisingly hard, I knew the bridge would be brought up. Crash 2 and 3 imo are MUCH easier with 2 being one of my favorite games of all time even back on the ps1. I typically have 2 lists I do each year, one of just new releases and one including all games I've played since as time has gone one I've found myself not playing as many "games released in the stated year" as I used to back in the day 2023 releases mine goes: Like a Dragon Gaiden, Spiderman 2, Ghost Trick, Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection, Mario RPG remake, Mario Wonder, Sea of Stars, Metroid Prime Remastered, We love Katamari, Legend of Heroes Trails into Reverie. General top 10 only has 2 differences: Like a Dragon Gaiden, Spiderman 2, Ghost Trick, Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection, Mario RPG remake, Mario Wonder, Sea of Stars, Batman Return to Arkham, Metroid Prime Remastered, Castlevania Requiem.
It’s so amazing playing games with my son! Nintendo really has that magic for families to enjoy! You crushed it this year! Fantastic list and some I still need to pickup!
This was an all-star list! I've also played some amazing games and Sea of Stars is my 2nd favorite game that I've played this year (right after Spider-Man 2)! This year has also been the one where I've played the 4 Trails of Cold back to back! Also FF7 Remake and Crisis Core Reunion! Yakuza Like A dragon! As you can see, you're not the only one who's late on playing certain games! I've added way more games to my backlog than played this year because they just keep pumping every type of RPG: Turn Based, Tactical, Action! And 2024 is already looking intimidating with Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, just to name those 2! Oh and of course I have to mention my most anticipated game releasing in April: Eiyuden Chronicle! Great video and keep up the good work!
Amazing games you’ve played too! Man next year is going to be crazy packed! Can’t wait and thanks so much for all the support this year. Always a blast chatting with you! Merry Christmas!
Thanks for your videos, we have 98% of the same taste and i'm not so well informed what comes out or whats out there in the last 15 years even tho it's my hobby. Your videos help a lot for me what games to get and play.
Had a great year for gaming myself. The games I've enjoyed most happen to be the ones I've played with my sons and those are TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Mario RPG.
It seems I still need to catch up in playing some of these. I had a blast playing Gal Guardians and Tears of the Kingdom this year and I really look forward to playing Persona 5 Tactica, Sea of Stars, and Star Ocean Second Story R. Metroid Prime Remaster and Fire Emblem Engage are in my backlog and I hope to get around to them soon. Even though I'm an old guy who is a big fan of the PS1, I somehow missed out on both Legend of Dragoon and Vampire Hunter D, perhaps playing those can be among my 2024 gaming goals. In addition to the games I mentioned previously, some of my favorite releases of this year are Blasphemous 2, Lies of P, World of Horror, The Last Faith, Octopath Traveler II, Trails to Azure, Trails into Reverie, Darkest Dungeon 2, Path of the Midnight Sun, Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia, Eternights, Wandering Sword, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, Prison City, and Verne: The Shape of Fantasy. I'm also very eager to play Baldur's Gate 3. The PS5 copy I ordered from Play Asia has recently shipped, but I went with economy shipping so I'm expecting to be able to play it in the latter part of next month. 😆
Legend of Dragoon is one of my absolute favorite jrpgs! I still need to play Star Ocean: Second Story R. Some of my favorite games played this year is probably World of Horror, Octopath Traveler II, and Lies of P.
Great list! 2023 was an interesting year for me since I had weird lulls where I didn't want to play much and spent more time reading web novels. But definitely a great year when I was gaming. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is definitely my top game of the year. Fun fact: Metroid Prime Remaster had a control button addition. When you're in the Morph ball and press X to jump in Morph ball form. That was added in the remaster. The original definitely had tougher collectible spots where you needed to double bomb jump in Morph ball, but you can cheese it with the Morph ball jump in the Remaster.
Yo Gal Guardians is amazing man. It revived all the great memories I had with Castlevania Portrait of Ruin on DS. Also Fire emblem engage was so much fun. The classic gameplay was just awesome really liked it. Great vid man
Muvluv is one of the best scifi stories ever made, the anime doesn't do it justice. Even the first half of the first title is a nice slice of life romance/comedy mix. It also sets the stage for the amazing stuff that comes after. I suggest everyone give it a try, it's really good.
Some similarities here. I don't recall anytime where I finished a Fire Emblem game where I immediatley wanted to start another playthrough as with Engage. Others for me, Metroid Prime, Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Super Mario RPG and Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Man, I've wanted a remaster of legend of dragoon for ages! I would love if the only thing they changed was the graphics! I think it'd rock on Switch. Or bring it as is to mobile!
Great video dude. I'm going to try playing that gal gun Metroidvania style game. I still need to play sea of stars too. I've downloaded it but haven't played it yet.
Some of my favorite releases this year in no particular order. Star Ocean Second Story R Atelier Ryza 3 Octopath Traveler 2 Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles Disgaea 7 Fate Samurai Remnant Gal Guardians Labyrinth Of Galleria Trails Into Reverie Tears Of The Kingdom Sea Of Stars Monochrome Mobius Resident Evil 4 remake Dead Space Remake Advance Wars 1 + 2 Like A Dragon Ishin
I still have my original copy of Vampire Hunter D on PS1, I saw 3 different endings as well. Which ending did you get? A remake of Dragoon would be nice, just not a re-imagining like FF7. I really enjoy Grim Guardians, very fun game. Star Ocean 2 looks better in motion that the stills make it seem. I would have liked the Metroid Prime remake to include a 3rd person option as I cannot play first person. It is not a remaster despite them putting it in the title it is a straight up remake, you can tell the assets were remade from the ground up. I have Sea of Stars on order, my copy shipped from Play-Asia already just waiting for it to arrive. It shipped with a copy of Yohane the Parhelion.
Wowowowow!!! What a list! 😆🎉 I've just waded into Zelda TotK and I LOVE IT!! Excellent video as usual my buddy Ren!!! I loved legend of dragoon. For years Ive wondered why this didnt get talked about the way ff7 did as imo LoD is in fact SUPERIOR to ff7 yeah, I said it.
As much as I tried to love sea of stars, I just couldn't as the battle is really boring and slow. The worst part is he end boss and the ending itself. I watched many reviews of this game but I just still don't get it why people like it. Octopath Traveler II is way better than SOS in my opinion. I didn't realize I spent over 70 hours on this game at all before I reached the end of it. That just tells you how much I enjoy this game.
My list (in no particular order): 1. Sniper Elite 5 2. Atelier Ryza 1 3. Fire Emblem Three Hopes 4. Ray Force (on Ray'z Chronology) 5. Deathsmiles 1 & 2 6. Fire Emblem Awakening 7. Monster Hunter World 8. Kirby and the Forgotten Land 9. Fight of Rage 10. The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind 11. Caladrius Blaze 12. Super Mario Wonder

Awesome list dude! TOTK is definitely up there for me, however my personal favourite was definitely the Future Redeemed DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Dude. I'm super happy bout you bro. Your passion and happiness with your family and life comes through in your video and it put a smile on my face . May 2024 be awesome for you and your family!!!!
Nice eclectic list -- this is how I play games these days too -- quite a few new games, some remaster/re-release, and about 50% just the classic older games. Keeps our time with videogames so fresh and interesting!
My list of games that I played this year and I will also rate each one of them: - Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary(9/10) - Etrian Odyssey Untold(8.6/10) - Etrian Odyssey Nexus(8/10) - Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology(6.6/10) - Mushihimesama(6.8/10) - Idol Showdown(5.2/10) - Lethal Application(8/10) - NieR Automata(5.5/10 - Devil Daggers(7/10) - Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising(6.4/10) - Rabi Ribi(9.2/10) - Address1(3/10) - Azure Striker Gunvolt 2(7.9/10) - Sayonara Umihara Kawase(8/10) - Kokuga(4.4/10) - Zombie Panic in Wonderland(7/10) - Sea of Star demo(3/10) - Ilvello Dilinjha(5/10) - Ys 9 demo(6.5/10) That is all the games I played that I still remember.
My Top 5 games I've played this year are #1 Mario RPG Remake: it just felt so good replaying a classic and honestly felt like a perfect game in my opinion. #2 RE4 Remake: again another classic that is near perfect for modern gaming but still feel like the original is better. #3 Turok 2: a wonderful game that I use to play with my brother as a kid but never did the story before until this year. #4 The Link Awakening remake: I really enjoyed playing this 1 for the first time as I never played the original. #5 No Man's Sky: just a Wonderful game that I avoided because of early development that I decided to touch this year. As much as I liked BOTW as a game itself I was severely disappointed by it not feeling like a Zelda game and ended up not really liking what it offered, as for TOTK it felt like a good improvement definitely enjoyed the game and everything but still wouldn't make my top 5
Man, fire emblem engage... Gameplay would be the only saving grace for that title, terrible localization, terrible story, insultingly stupid, cringe intro, every new joining character is actually 3 units so the bloat is insane, idk man. I was extremely disappointed with engage, I was trying to look at the bright sides cuz FE is one of my favorite game series but damn this feels bad.
I miss the days where couch co-op was a thing. Finally made a video game buddy, we went to see what all games were couch co-op and the list for switch and ps5 is basically non existent. There are a handful on both systems but no triple A games whatsoever really.
Metroid Prime Remaster - bringing back my favourite game of all time. And Tears of the Kingdom and Sea of Stars stood out this year. It's been a fun near-365 days hasn't it? Heck, even it was nice to see a bit of Mario, Crash and Kirby.
I adore Fire emblem, i put a solid 400 hours in Three Houses, but I strugggggglled to get into Engage. I want to come back to it but when does it get better?
Bud I love your list. Because like so many of us who are into jrpg’s our backlogs are always crazy. Most gaming channels usually make their top games of the year about all new games which makes me feel the foma and that I will never catch. But not you, you mix backlog with new like the rest of us and that’s why you are one of my faves. You are an Everyman for us. Congrats on the new kid.
Congrats on the second kid! I just had my third this year after twins and they're all under 2 >.< So I really love that I found your channel this year. It keeps me hype for when I can get some gaming in and the awesome recommendations help me see games (and manga) I woulda passed on in a new light. I have the first 5 volumes of Dandadan waiting for me under the tree! Cheers to 2024! I hope Metaphor ReFantazio is as awesome as it's lookin and look forward to your take!
That’s wonderful! Gaming parents unite! lol I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and an incredible New Year and please let me know what ya think of Dandadan!!
Just to get a barometer on your emotions, did you cry during the following games/movies? Marley and me Ninja garden sigma 3 Elden ring Tetris The goonies What Remains of Edith Finch
Nice list Hallowed Be Thy Game! Fire Emblem Engage is pure fun as a fire emblem game and this is way I keep coming back to it. Strangely I'm playing throught Master Detective Archives Rain Code and I can't put this title down. I try to but it has its grip on me man from the mechanics and story. Gal Guardians os freaking awesome man. Really harkens back more to the feel of old school castlevania.
@@HallowedBeThyGame considering you are a fellow man of culture lol. I just want to see your reaction after the prologue. That's all I'm allowed to say because I fear I may spoil the game and since this is a bit more on the visual novel side I won't.
First of all, congrats on your new baby this year! We had a second of our own last year and it's amazing to see sibling grow together! Second, great video! My top 5 games I played this year are, in no particular order: Red Dead Redemption 2, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero & Trails to Azure (counting them as one!), and Sea of Stars. There are others I played and/or finished, but these were my favorites that I made it through this year.
Not a lot on RUclips truly touches me, but hearing about the bond you share with your son and the memories you created to strengthen that bond really gave me joy just to hear of it. Awesome list dude! TOTK is definitely up there for me, however my personal favourite was definitely the Future Redeemed DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Fantastic picks for you as well! Xenoblade 3 was easily my goty last year!
Probably super Mario rpg and fate samurai would be my main games.
Hm shining refrain resonance Kirby fl Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Fe engage
Amazing games!
@@HallowedBeThyGame honestly wish Mario ttyd remake would release already. That's the game I wanna play again
Love seeing Metroid Prime Remastered on the list!
So good!
Dude. I'm super happy bout you bro. Your passion and happiness with your family and life comes through in your video and it put a smile on my face .
May 2024 be awesome for you and your family!!!!
Thank you so much! I hope you and your family have an incredible New Year as well!
Nice eclectic list -- this is how I play games these days too -- quite a few new games, some remaster/re-release, and about 50% just the classic older games. Keeps our time with videogames so fresh and interesting!
It really keeps it fun and soulful to me anymore. Thanks for watching!
Great list! My top 5 would be:
1. Tears of the Kingdom
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Octopath Traveler II
4. Super Mario Bros. Wonder
5. Sea of Stars
Epic list!

- Ilvello Dilinjha(5/10)
- Ys 9 demo(6.5/10)
That is all the games I played that I still remember.
My Top 5 games I've played this year are
#1 Mario RPG Remake: it just felt so good replaying a classic and honestly felt like a perfect game in my opinion.
It was such a wild and incredible year!
I adore Fire emblem, i put a solid 400 hours in Three Houses, but I strugggggglled to get into Engage. I want to come back to it but when does it get better?
My top 5 are layton and the azhran legacy, metroid prime, octopath 2, fe engage and pikmin 4. I'm waiting for sea of stars physical release
Dang thank you so much! That's so kind of you!
I would be way more hyped for Legend of Dragoon remake than P3 Reloaded.
Little surprised to see gal guardian on here. Glad to see more people like this game.
Do you have a top hidden gems for DS?
Legend of Dragoon so deserves a remake but that's modern day Sony for you
So true
Just to get a barometer on your emotions, did you cry during the following games/movies?
Marley and me
Ninja garden sigma 3
Elden ring
Tetris
The goonies
What Remains of Edith Finch
If someone doesn't cry watching Marley and Me they might be a sociopath.
Engage is such a banger! So happy you enjoyed it too! I gotta play Rain Code! I’m sorry haven’t picked it up yet!
@@HallowedBeThyGame considering you are a fellow man of culture lol. I just want to see your reaction after the prologue. That's all I'm allowed to say because I fear I may spoil the game and since this is a bit more on the visual novel side I won't.
@@Trenell83 I was curious before but now you have my full attention 🤣❤️
Have you played chained echoes??
Not yet but I have the physical preordered!
Sea of Stars is my favorite JRPG of the year. Chained Echoes is my "Worst JRPG of the Year" award winner.
Sea of Stars is so amazing 🤩
@@HallowedBeThyGame An absolute joy. Perfect on the Portal and one I'm definitely buying on the Switch when the physical comes out.
I got chained echoes a few months ago but I havent played it. What makes it the worst JRPG? Should I skip it altogether?
The thumbnails are always what pull me in lol
First of all, congrats on your new baby this year! We had a second of our own last year and it's amazing to see sibling grow together! Second, great video! My top 5 games I played this year are, in no particular order: Red Dead Redemption 2, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero & Trails to Azure (counting them as one!), and Sea of Stars. There are others I played and/or finished, but these were my favorites that I made it through this year.
That’s wonderful your family has grown as well! We are truly blessed and loving it lol. Also I really need to play RE 4 remake, it looks so good!
Mark Hamill voices that monster village elder in Bloodlust.
Yo what?! That’s incredible, I didn’t know thay
actually nv my bad 😂 could of swore he did but it was another actor. He actually voiced the demon attached to WAR in Darksiders
Not a lot on RUclips truly touches me, but hearing about the bond you share with your son and the memories you created to strengthen that bond really gave me joy just to hear of it. Video games really do permeate into all aspects of life one way or another. Congrats on the new one and happy holidays to you and your family.
P.S.: Awesome video my good man
Thank you so much, video games really do have a magic to them. Hope you have an incredible Christmas and New Year!
