Interesting about the new ones being "sterile" and his comment about this 997 being sharp. Having owned a 996 and a 991.2 - I have to agree. The 996 was more "sharp" than the 991.2. Now without a doubt, the 991.2 is faster and more capable. But it does not feel "sharp". Good word he used to describe it.
Oh man. I sold my 997.2 GT3 back in May. Had it over 2 years and loved it but the mileage was creeping up and here in UK the values are really affected. I started running to strengthen my legs before I bought it knowing that clutch was going to be stiff but I got used to it and really had no issue. One thing is these cars need properly warming up so if you use it, say, to pop to town and back the gear shift stays clunky. It needs around 15+ miles of open road to get those fluids warm then everything smooths out. Mine was comfort (no cage, no extinguisher, and no buckets) finished in dark metallic blue. Front end was PPF’d. I’ve now got a 2019 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS in black, with PDK, GTS interior, red stitching and carbon inlays. It’s a great compromise between a base Carrera and GT3.
how would you compare them ? do you miss the gt3 ? is the steering a lot different 997 vs 991 ?? im looking to buy a 997 turbo or a 991 carreras 4s....
@@Bours911 997 Turbos are awesome. But I would go with a Gen2 PDK and avoid the tiptronic as they spoil the whole experience. Manual obviously great if you can find one.. I do miss the noise of the GT3 but roads near me are just too bumpy and it was forever chinning the tarmac with the front splitter. Steering on 991.2 is fine but I hear the .1s were not so good. Two months in on my GTS and loving it but in the dry I do miss the rear wheel drive dynamics and finding the 4 traction control a little intrusive. Not dared to switch it off yet but will get more used to it's limits first. Overall I was using the GT3 too much as a daily.
@@bobgees793 thx for your answer ! yea looking for a 2010 997 turbo facelift with pdk since tiptronic is a no ! what would you personally choose ? 997 turbo or a carrera 4s 991 both awd both about the same speed....but im thinking the 997 would feel more direct and be more "fun" i guess
Greetings. You kinda looked familiar whilst I watched thus video. I agree with this video. Ive a 997.1 GT3 , a 991.2 GT3Rs and a 991 Speedster on offer. The reason I remembered you - Was your Lotus Emira Configurator. I just got my Emira 3rd week of April. And was surfing for content when I landed on your post. That was a very interesting vlog.
My Emira is an Automatic 3.5 1st Edition. Touring Suspension. Shadow Grey Black Bottom. On red on Black Interior. Gloss Black Wheels. Check out JUBU For Engine tune. Im in love with the Emira. Its supple and reminds me of my 986 Boxster 25yrs ago. Itd be best with 460-500hp. It sounds good even now. Youll have fun with it.
I've got almost exactly the same car (with same GMG/RSS parts), but 997.1. The engine has been replaced with a 3.8L unit built by Autometrics with Cup heads. Currently getting some engine refresh work done, but will be for sale thereafter. Hit me up if tempted - I'd like to send it to a great home!
Obsessed Garage and you two are just two middle aged white dudes. You know what I mean brother. Every video should have at least one shot of the outside of the car, either driving out or driving in, or rolling down the road some way. We didn’t subscribe to look at your smiling face all day. Although I’m sure it could be worse!
Man I really wish the 997.2 looked like the 991.2. I think 997.2 is the way to go in terms of driving, but just something about the wing doesn't do it for me. Maybe in person would be better. Great vid!
Matt, 997.2 GT3 RS with sharkwerks 4.1 engine upgrade. Yes, $250,000 is a lot of money but you will have a car that rivals the CGT, F40, F50, F1 etc. Better than the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0. Think about it.
Man I remember when that GT3 first came out with the ridiculous redline and I used to play need for speed on my computer and I would always build this car 😎 what cracks me up is the sound of this engine sounded exactly like the one I built in my game!
Yeah but standard trans is a dying breed , it’s just to slow to keep up with today’s dual clutch transmissions , even the new Mustang GT500 is coming with dual clutch trans only no standard shift available
Matt, the OGs are waiting for your M5 first wash...
Theres something about a 3 pedal GT3. There really is no substitute for that experience I'm sure
997 gt3 with a manual is the way to go for sure

997.2 looks alot better. probably the best Porsche ever.

I have a 997.2 GTS with aero 6spd manual and I can't stop finding little things to do to it to make it just that extra more special

Anyone know what the exhaust is called on that 997? might be the best I've ever heard.
I think it was GMG headers and center section.

how much your asking for it ?
Wow that 997 sounds fantastic. What a ride!
Is that a 30 minute video with no images of the outside of the 997? We’ve seen yours but, comon man!
It's a white GT3.

Time to pick up a 997 gt3!
Next up 997RS. You will love the extra 45 hp and the wider track and downforce.
That was a 69 (I think?) AMX in front of you that did the drift across the intersection. Very rare car to see on the roads these days.

PDK Sport in Manual gives you that artificial kick in the back when shifting at high RPM and throttle, nothing else.
No it doesn't.
@@ObsessedGarage Oh really? Weird. In the GT3 it does that and all other Porsche PDKs. So it really does not do anything in manual huh?
It does absolutely nothing.

It's difficult to controll that much hp with a manual. Only a handful if people can as how they control the Vipers.
First :)
