We had a donkey for years. We used him in our Easter pageants. As he got older he got pretty territorial. He tried to kill our dog a couple of times not to mention our farrier. We gave him away twice and he kept coming back home. Lol
The raclette would also go great with a fondue set up! My late husband and I would host such fun fondue parties with other couples and would have loved to have had that addition! Thanks for sharing!
Raclette!! Thank you for sharing/source. Been wanting to get! So much fun with former neighbors. Always a surprise grilling item offered. Fun, healthy eats.
Our Christmas Eve tradition is to have cheese fondue. Yum! It is melted cheese which has some wine mixed into it. It is a box mix that is already prepared. The cheese mixture is heated in a fondue pot. Our pot is electric, some are heated using a can of ferno with a flame. Using special long handled forks you dip bread chunks into the melted cheese mixture. Sometimes we do meat fondue also in which small chunks of lean meat is cooked into a fondue pot which has hot oil in it. We have other food also as there is never enough cheese to have and the meat takes awhile to cook. Then finish with fruit that we dip into melted chocolate in a fondue pot. 🎉
Happy New Year Sarak and Kevin. Many blessings for the new year for you both! Thank you for your commitment to educate all of us and shareing your experiences. We all love you!😊🎉
If you decide to get bees look into Dr. Leo's horizontal hives. He also has books as well as hives he builds and sells as well as plans. His hives are also insulated.
The formal definition of raclette comes from the French word that means “to scrape” and refers to both the type of cheese and the traditional Swiss dish it is served with. Cheese legend says the dish originated hundreds of years ago when farmers would heat up a piece of cheese over the open fire for a hearty and filling meal. Usually scraped over potatoes and bread. I have one of these but a different configuration. Each little pan is assigned to a guest as their personal pan. It is so much fun and you will enjoy the socializing.
I just seen a herd dispersal of standard donkeys on Craigslist yesterday. I'm not too far from you guys and put a 100-mile radius so if you look like you should be able to find them. They were pretty decently priced😊
I will be fellowshipping with my church fellowship. We will have a supper at 8pm and then bring in the New Year with prayer. So much prayer needed all over the globe. May God keep you and your followers safe in 2025. Looking forward to watching your farming adventures of 2025. God Bless ❤️🙏🕊️🇦🇺
My family did Raclette years ago. Back in the 90’s it was hard to find the cheese. We often substituted other Swiss cheeses. We had fun doing the meals and sharing the idea with friends and relatives. Got rid of the appliance - you don’t need it, just use anything that will melt cheese and a grill for veggies and meats. Happy New Year.
Agree with you about booting out all the goodies. I have been on Keto since last January and lost 35 lbs. Gained back 6 since Thanksgiving. I cannot do anything sweet. It turns me into a cookie monster. Happy New Year to you!
Me tooo… I never eat bread because I don’t buy it. However, my son brought bread at Christmas, and guess what I had for breakfast? Lots of TOAST … yikes.
We bought a half a pig from a local farm and I can totally agree that the joule makes awesome bacon and also the fact that some of the steaks with the big bone are not enjoyable but because I got half a pig, we couldn’t have our punch sheet. After having the farm pig, I could never buy pork from the grocery store, I think it’s full of vaccines and additives that I just don’t want
Our pigs went to the butcher Dec 10 and we got the meat back right before christmas. We had ham that was still in our freezer. We had them deli slice some ham. It is so good. This time they gave us our fat back. We got 80 pounds of back fat from 2 pigs. So good. I love having a freezer full of meat. Enough to share with friends and family
Love this! Every time I make a roast pork, my family know scrapple is next! Believe it or not, I still use the old time, Joy of Cooking cookbook. 40+ years.
We love having Raclette for dinner. It’s a great social experience with friends and family. Trader Joe’s sells sliced Raclette cheese and the squares fit well into the little pans below the grill plate. We have salami’s, potatoes, and bread.
Our local auction house had mini donkeys they are so cute. And our neighbors down the road have two full size donkeys. So cute and gentle. ❤ God bless you in the new year, we watch you on our tv , so I come on the iPad to comment.
We used to get those in the Spring. About April. And took them in to butcher the end of October or so. They were great! We gave them a wallow area so they didn't root Mitch. They were fenced in in a area that had a small cliff in it. We have diamond back and timber rattles so the pigs went in that area. They are Great at killing snakes!! We three kids could get in with them no problem! I had a couple as an adult and they were what I got too. Good meat and enough lard for me out of one!
When my kids took their pigs to fair they couldn’t show them unless they made weight. That weight was at least 250 pounds. Mine usually get there in 7 months.
Speaking of weather, you'll understand this oddity. I live in the SW and our nights have been in the 40's and 50's more often than not this winter. It's very strange when we are used to it getting much colder once the sun goes down.
I fell & missed ur program. Darn my health is so crazy. My 1 nephew got me books! Ive given him sets in past *Bunnicula series & Eragons & Harry Potter all in series* i had also given same to my grandon. Its so nice hes giving back to me starting this year. I also give board games! My youngest bub & youngest sis love games like me (3 of us 5 siblings love board games & cards)
Hi Sarah and Kevin! I have raised both standard donkeys and miniature donkeys. I can attest-and my husband agrees-that the miniature donkey is by far the most loving animal on the ranch, right up there with our beloved Aussie dogs! Did you know that the Livestock Conservancy has the miniature donkey on their Watch list? Also, a donkey needs a companion, preferably another donkey. Here at the ranch, with wilderness trails into the Rocky Mountains, miniature donkeys will pack a lunch for you!
Have a great new year!! I know I’ll be snoozing. I always get woke up to gunshots and fireworks but if I sleep deep enough that won’t happen tonight.😂🎉
Pigs play. I went to bowling alley & got a couple "ugly" balls & my pot bellied pigs played with them & didn't root. I cut a plastic drum length-ways & slightly buried them for water & play. It worked. I took my pigs to butcher, did my own goats & cows, rabbits & poultry (i did have Amish kill & de-feathered poultry & i did the rest). I made up my cuts lol
You have to try Chris Cooking Nashville’s carnivore noodles. They are fantastic. You can make your favorite pasta dish without cheating! It’s a bit of work so not for everyday ease, but it’s worth it to have your faves every once in a while.
Sorry didnt make it to the live Question? with the Bresse finishing out older do you find them not as tender? I raise a few but havent ended up with enough roosters to worry about. I raised 25 and only ended up with 4 roosters. I sold a couple very young and will keep the two last ones for the hens I have. Mine are actually very good layers.
Our experience with IPPs is better than that as far as feed vs meat vs pasture, but we live in WNC are pastures look much more lush than yours. We feed our breeders 2# per day and unlimited forage for 10/12 months of the year. Bump it up to 4# a day and they eat their bedding hay during Jan&Feb along with a bit of forage. Our feeders are typical 4# a day, grow to 250# by 10 months old. I love these pigs. They are perfect for our homestead.
I just remembered.. Sarah your ketchup canning recipe is wonderful, thank you! Can you help me fix the dozen cans of ketchup I did from the ball recipe? They just aren't that good and I hate to waste so much. Especially tomatoes I grew. Thanks!
You can use donkeys for packing and for herd protection if needed but miniature horses are the opposite. Cant ride or use them for packing and they dont protect other animals!!
Happy New Year! Unfortunately I missed the live stream, but was wondering how you know that you are getting your pigs back from the butcher? I assume they butcher many other pigs, so how do you know you are getting the meat from the pigs you raised?
Do you guys get the offal - liver, kidneys, heart, spleen - back? Is it an option? How about the bones, do you get them back and make stock or anything?
I want someone to take me to a really, big city, so we can watch old movies! (No one in particular, btw) Preferably at a drive-in, which is too rare to be real. Why don't they show old movies at old drive-ins?
Hope you have a great 2025. I enjoy watching your videos and the comments people make. Blessings, Gail

Well I didn’t get to see this live but the replay was enjoyable. It made me smile. Happy holidays and happy new year!
The raclette would also go great with a fondue set up! My late husband and I would host such fun fondue parties with other couples and would have loved to have had that addition! Thanks for sharing!
I was just thinking it sounded like a more solid fondue!
Or a "reverse fondue". You dip the cheese in meat and veggies.
That sounds like a lot of fun. Fondue parties were all the fashion back in the day.
Raclette!! Thank you for sharing/source. Been wanting to get! So much fun with former neighbors. Always a surprise grilling item offered. Fun, healthy eats.

Missouri weather is Always crazy, yes, in all my 65 years of living here we have had very warm Christmas' in the past.
Agree with you about booting out all the goodies. I have been on Keto since last January and lost 35 lbs. Gained back 6 since Thanksgiving. I cannot do anything sweet. It turns me into a cookie monster.

Make BBQ sauce.
Hi Sarah and Kevin... Happy New Year.
@Kevin... please re-share the vid on setting up the drip in the greenhouse. I cant find it
It doesn't have to have ham flavoring. You could just have steaks. Just season salt pepper
? Love your channel! With the above ground gardening, does the soil become depleted of nutrients, and if so when/how do replace? add amendments?
Kevin is the yes man.
I have heard that before and still wonder why?
You can use donkeys for packing and for herd protection if needed but miniature horses are the opposite. Cant ride or use them for packing and they dont protect other animals!!
What type of beverages do you drink? Is it sugar free? Also what brand of stevia do you use and where can I find it?
Mini horses are ornery a lot of the time. Donkeys are great watch donks!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My pork chops always are so tough. How do you cook them? I haven’t tried them in a crockpot yet all day, but I’m thinking that would be may be better.
They are so cute when you rub their ears too!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mini Donkey!!!!!!
You guys are fairly close to Branson? WOW
What kinds of hard cheese to you eat that you buy at the store?
Happy New Years to you both from New Brunswick Canada.
Question what type of laser engraver cutter do you have as i am looking into them. Thanks
Do your chickens lay in the winter month
Looks like he got in a fight and merry Christmas and a happy new year
Happy New Year! Unfortunately I missed the live stream, but was wondering how you know that you are getting your pigs back from the butcher? I assume they butcher many other pigs, so how do you know you are getting the meat from the pigs you raised?
What breed of chickens do you use for eggs only
Bresse. Eggs & meat
There are mini donkeys as well as horses, Kevin!
❤
Leggs has a great country sausage seasoning
What movies does the local theatre show if not current ones? Classics?
Do you guys get the offal - liver, kidneys, heart, spleen - back? Is it an option? How about the bones, do you get them back and make stock or anything?
What’s the difference between Canadian bacon or regular bacon?😊
how about a mini donkey? they are so good for keeping away predators.... but I think you know that.
❤🙏
Donkeys are much less expensive to raise than ponies or miny horses.
Jowl bacon is my very favorite.
Do you make your own breakfast sausage?
Use zucchini for noodles( spaghetti)
Gaited mule.....best ride !
Donkeys are known to be watch dogs….just saying.😊
Do yourself a favor if you buy a donkey buy it from somebody personally, so you know it's healthy.
I agree. Chad Doss (Doss Farms) has the cutest male donkey that he’s looking for a perfect home for.
Funny when Sarah waves her hands and blocks his face out every once in a while. .
I want someone to take me to a really, big city, so we can watch old movies! (No one in particular, btw)
Preferably at a drive-in, which is too rare to be real. Why don't they show old movies at old drive-ins?
HOW HAS YOUR COMPOSTING BEEN DOING? Nancy from omaha,ne
Why don't you use spaghetti squash for noddles,or cauliflower.
Kevin needs a donkey lol love the videos
Why are people donating money?
They don’t need it that’s for sure! Lol
@anna27446 I wonder if they're taking up for charity
Happy 2025
