Since Sonic Adventure & SA2 Battle are well known for aging better than Super Mario 64, I guess that means you don't need to make videos for them on how well they aged.
So clearly I'm a replica of Arin Hanson here because I am terrible at being observant or paying attention or even being good at the game, hahaha. It's clear now that the bubbles from the sky are from the Bob-omb cannons, something that I did not know, despite how much I've played this game. I remember making sure that was justified by going all over the place in the stage to figure out where they were coming from but I couldn't find a good reason and so that's why that stayed in the script and video. Anyway, obviously there is a point and I just did not catch on at any point in time hahaha
8:50 Actually, the bubbles come from a Bob Omb which is firing them from the mountain. I played this game and when I killed the Bob Omb, I when down to the surface to test out and, no bubble was fired!
+Garrett Williamson Dang dude! It looks so awesome! Keep this up! Also, Whomp's Fortress is such a memorable level for me. :3 And when I saw that it came back as Throwback Galaxy in SMG2, I FANBOYED A WHOLE LOT. And the soundtrack is SOOO memorable. And... Sonic Adventure? Eww. Disgusting. ;-;
+AnimatorWolfie Yes I will be doing more in the future. Can't say when the next "did it age well" will be or what game it will be but I plan to do more for sure.
you said in the top 10 soundtracks on the gcwaves RTTTA that this was one of your all-time favorite games soooooo. I was basically waiting on what you had yo say about the game. And tbh the live stream you did for super mario 64 was fun to watch. No doubt that this game will still be played for a long time.
(Just scrolling through subscriptions) oh, hey look, Garett uploaded another video OHMYGOD IT'S RTTTA (taps then freaks out as the vid loads. Then the vid starts and I start typing this comment)
Instead his style relies on a partially objective in depth analysis that, while true, usually entirely misses the essence of what makes a game special, or beautiful; and what makes a game stick with you, or become timeless It's a certain approach that I associate with "geeks" and "nerds"; this desire to dissect everything--including art--and try to apply a logical rationale to why something is good or bad. It can make for interesting conversation, but it's almost irrelevant to the quality of artistic works You can find it in any medium, but I think because video games tend to attract this type of geek more than any other medium, in depth criticism that ignores the ethereal, subjective qualities that actually make a game classic, is very prevalent. They end up describing things like why a game is pleasant, or why it's frustrating, or why it's clever; not why it's shit, or why it's a masterpiece Modern game design often takes this approach, and suffers for it, often resulting in streamlined, bland games that will be played once, and age instantly. Good art comes from a brashness, from a personal place, either intentionall or unintentionally captures an illusive ethereal beauty, and often results in something with rough edges, that has little consideration for the comfort of the observer, or player
Thank you garret you have driven me away from the brink of insanity now to watch this on replay for many hours thank you garrett (I now have no social life) :)
UUUHMMM i think Super Mario Sunshine, while being a great game, has the worse physics engine of the two. Yes, it's less slippery but...the pachinko machine.
Garrett Williamson Every single "secret of the" level has that same problem. Yeah, that's still not the whole game, but it's more than one level. The Pachinko (still not sure if I'm spelling that right) Machine is just the worst offender. But don't get me wrong, Sunshine is still a great game by all means
Oh no I agree lol, all of the secret levels are a pain in the arse and the reason I quit the game and never finished it. I mean between all 4 of the main series 3D platformer games, Sunshine is definitely the weakest. I just thought you were saying that the Pachinko Machine was WHY the physics were rough. But honestly OUTSIDE of the secret levels, he doesn't feel so slippery. I dunno what it is; it's just not as bad and in some regards better than SM64.
Garrett Williamson I actually love Sunshine the most, but from a technical standpoint, yeah I'd say it was the weakest. I love it the most because of the atmosphere, the feeling of having secrets everywhere you can find (there's one secret level in Delphino Plaza that I didn't find until over five years after initially beating the game) and because it was the first 3D Mario platformer i ever played. I have those nostalgia blinders pressed firmly against my eyes!
Seriously, what's the difference between the real thing and a virtual console? I haven't played either, I grew up with a PS1 and I'm too lazy to download Project64. And I swear if it's just because "It doesn't feel the same" or something along those lines, then it's like essentially saying you're eating Chinese food wrong because you used a fork.
Mechanics and controls are oddly more slippery in Virtual Console. The game also was not meant for the GameCube controller and it translated poorly. I've heard the version for Wii U improved on this but I haven't tried that version so I can't say. I'm just speaking for Wii's VC.
No. I'm not a fan of emulators, personally. Nothing against them, they're just not authentic. I'd only use one if, for example, I wanted to do something like Melee netplay or something.
Super Mario 64 has aged poorly but it is still fun, and holds up against other 3D platformers around the same time like Banjo-Kazooie and Sonic Adventure, even if I think Sonic Adventure has one of the best hub worlds ever, ever since I first played I loved the hub worlds, and it was one of my first PC gaming experiences so I may be a bit biased
Can you explain what you mean when you say "it's aged poorly"? Seems contradictory to also saying it's still fun. I mean, if a 20+ year old game is still fun, isn't that the very definition of aging well?
This new sub-series looks pretty cool and I have no idea if you still take requests like back on GCwaves but if you do maybe the next RTTTA could be about Splatoon...I dunno whatever you do I'll still watch it, anyway love your videos keep it up...bye
+Charlie Green Unfortunately there is no full version; I specifically recorded it for this video, hahaha! But I'm glad you like it! Maybe eventually I'll extend it. We'll see.
Down to $2.09 right now and that's cheap as crap for us. At one point it got down to like $1.69 and that was an utter miracle lol. And I live in an area that's less expensive; 10 miles north the lowest it gets is like $2.20. But you call this expensive? Geesh, go check out LA, their prices are unforgiving. You lucky wherever you live lol
Hey Garrett, just wanted to let you know that I really like these videos, and I hope you keep it up. Although your How to Makes are nice, I think I definetly appreciate these kinds of videos currently, as I will in the future.
im 14 but i still played it on the n64 so people dont tell me "it was after my time" . as i was younger i was hooked by the game and i think im gonna play it sometimes again i still think it is one of the best mario games
My nephew and niece are about the same age my sister and i were when we first got this game for Christmas one year, so when i saw it was only 10 bucks on the digital store i bought it for their WiiU and they love it. Its pretty awesome seeing them enjoy something i enjoyed when i was their age.
I grew up playing this game and it is honestly one of the best games I have played for the 64. It was not the hardest Mario game I have ever played but it certainly wasn't the easiest either. Super Mario Sunshine was the hardest in my opinion. I really enjoyed this video and can't wait to see what you watch age next!
How do you not have more subs/views Garrett?! You obviously spend lots of time editing and recording/creating the materials to make videos!! I came for the very first not scary and stayed for the excellent handiness and creative mind ;)
There's a canon on bomb-omb battlefield that fires them. If you take the intended pathway up the mountain you'll eventually find it and a stationary bomb-omb (that won't try to attack you) using it (warning: even if you kill him the canon will continue to fire).
Garrett, I also get that when your little, and you play video games it's those little things like you pulling on Mario's face that make it more fun and better to come back to. It's childhood memories.
Dude. YOUR AWESOME. Your very clean and I gotta say I dont care what your videos are (Even how to make outlast not scary and other not scarys) are so awesome. I love RTTA dude. Keep up the good work. I know you'll do good. -Gallick
Hey Garrett, please do more of these, I am familiar with most of these games, so please? For me and the countless other people who want more Did it Age Well?
from what I can remember (it has been awhile since I played it) the bubbles in the beginning are shot out of large cannons on the mountain fired by the bombadoms (definitely not there proper names but I have played this game since I was a child, the name has stuck) :)
For the record, *there's FINALLY a new 'Did It Age Well' out on Mario Kart!* Go check it out!! ruclips.net/video/HOyx-hp491A/видео.html
Garrett Williamson why did it take so long?
Btw I got a N64 after watching this 36 times
Garrett Williamson this is my fav console next to the ps4
only took you 3 years
At least the DS version aged better
Since Sonic Adventure & SA2 Battle are well known for aging better than Super Mario 64, I guess that means you don't need to make videos for them on how well they aged.

+Garrett Williamson Shots fired on Egoraptor
Léna Vtr I mean I honestly love Arin but let's be honest, he's not very good at video games.
And neither am I. Hahahahaha
Yeah I know I'm just joking ahah, I like him just the way he is and I love his lets play like this, the same goes for you :)
+Garrett Williamson dude just to stir up the smash pantys in those fanboys, why not do an episode of did it age well with smash 64.
The bubbles are what the cannons shoot in the first lvl
I still say “Whatever floats your truck” all the time, thanks Garrett….
For me it’s “whatever floats your airplane” from his sonic video
Be sure to share this with your friends, guys! It makes a huge, huge difference and helps a TON! Enjoy!!
+Garrett Williamson Hell yeah!

I'm dead🤣
Watching some of Garret's older content and just realized that "What if i'm hurt by you" is the song in the intro 2 years before it released.
8:50
Actually, the bubbles come from a Bob Omb which is firing them from the mountain. I played this game and when I killed the Bob Omb, I when down to the surface to test out and, no bubble was fired!
I remember the bubbles being shot out of a cannon on the mountainside, even if the trajectory didn't make sense. Is it different in the NTSC versions?
im not old enough for mario 64 to be part of my childhood, but this video makes it
I love the music he put when he changed the subject.
BossOfBlocks SONIC MANIA PLUS
Can I point out how large his Adams apple is?
6:40 - 6:49 Windows 7 vs. later Windows devices in a nutshell.
I love the transitions Garrett keep it up!
Great vid, Garret. Also can you do an RTTTA on Kingdom Hearts possibly?
+Landon Wilson Maybe eventually! It's not currently planned right now but maybe some point in the future.

You rhymed.
Magically, I have no idea how I did it.
ZeroTheArtificial o.o
+Dr. Stephen [Max Lvl Tem] spiderman 2 is objectively perfect
Dr. Stephen [Max Lvl Tem] I’d say it has aged pretty poorly in pretty much every department except the web slinging.
Awesome video! Can't wait for the next Garrett plays or rttta

Classical Garrett humor... great video!
Dude! RTTTA looks so different! It looks awesome! :D
+birdertweet Glad you're liking it!
+Garrett Williamson It looks so well made! Also, did you make a look old on purpose? Because I love it!
birdertweet Yeah I'm slowly getting it to this established style of everything being more retro/VHS-style.
+Garrett Williamson Dang dude! It looks so awesome! Keep this up! Also, Whomp's Fortress is such a memorable level for me. :3 And when I saw that it came back as Throwback Galaxy in SMG2, I FANBOYED A WHOLE LOT. And the soundtrack is SOOO memorable. And...
Sonic Adventure? Eww. Disgusting. ;-;
+Garrett Williamson And please. Release the song you put when it goes to the topics on your soundcloud. It sounds amazing.
Love this! Can you make more of these "Did *game* Age Well" RTTTA's?
+AnimatorWolfie Yes I will be doing more in the future. Can't say when the next "did it age well" will be or what game it will be but I plan to do more for sure.
Yay!
Wow, can't believe a famous youtuber actually replied to me. Thank you!
Your editing on these videos are amazing and I love the layout of the videos as well.

It didn’t age well because if Mario called Bowser gay today he would be attacked my tumblr.
i play it on my DS lite
CTron I play it on my DSi
CTron I play it on my 3ds
Garrett those bubbles are fired from the cannons!
I love your review style. It doesn't rely on opinions as much as other reviews. My favorite part was the "secrets in the hub worlds" part.
Instead his style relies on a partially objective in depth analysis that, while true, usually entirely misses the essence of what makes a game special, or beautiful; and what makes a game stick with you, or become timeless

I appreciate the Balloonshop reference more than you could ever know.
Maybe Galaxy does have secrets, you just haven't found them...
heheheh
Nice video! I like the small details like the screen flickering.
8:45 My reaction when everything goes wrong all at once.
1:20 Garret acknowledged Pennsylvania. I love it when my state is acknoeledged, because everyone does.
JUST PLAY ALONG IF YOU'RE FROM THE UK

Also I really like this series. Keep em coming. :)

That jingle between each category is catchy as hell
Hahaha! Thanks.
+Garrett Williamson keep up the good work

Can you explain what you mean when you say "it's aged poorly"? Seems contradictory to also saying it's still fun. I mean, if a 20+ year old game is still fun, isn't that the very definition of aging well?
Sonic Adventure’s hub worlds are awful, sa2 removed them for a reason.
Abstract Daddy And people can still enjoy things they think are bad.
637 H4CK3D N008
True. But that doesn't really address my question.
This new sub-series looks pretty cool and I have no idea if you still take requests like back on GCwaves but if you do maybe the next RTTTA could be about Splatoon...I dunno whatever you do I'll still watch it, anyway love your videos keep it up...bye
This video was awesome.
And it has aged, but well.
I think it sucks
The controls suck and the camera sucks
Sunshine is better
Those falling bubbles are being shot from a cannon on the climb to the boss you can see one of those bomb dudes shooting them from a canon.
2:27 Cool clip of a track dude. Where can I hear a full version? (if possible)
+Charlie Green Unfortunately there is no full version; I specifically recorded it for this video, hahaha! But I'm glad you like it! Maybe eventually I'll extend it. We'll see.
Garrett Williamson You betta! ;)
Garrett Williamson Where is it????
Sweet! I didn't know you were a fan of Ballon Shop. Nice video as always.
Oh man I've loved BalloonShop for a long time. I met Olan Rogers. He's a great guy.
Garrett Williamson Yeah, me and my Mom are huge fans of his stuff. Hope we can meet him some day.
SM64 did not age that great IMO (camera and some control issues really) but its still VERY playable ,unlike other older 3D titles
Bloodbane2099 isn’t Mario 64 one of the first 3d games
1:39 Because of this little joke, I learned who Olam Rogers is and saw him create my favorite show of all time. Thanks.
Quite possibly the best video-game review video I've viewed on RUclips yet!
Your sarcasm makes the video extremely funny
make a RTTTA about zelda!!!!!
even though I originally played this game on the Nintendo ds lite, I loved this game
I'm not going to lie the only reason I started watching because of the FNAF ones but seriously you're hilarious and I'm glad I found you.
Awesome! Glad you like it!
Holy shit I didn't expect you to reply!

garret has so much enthusiasm
*Nothing important to the actual video*
Jesus Christ, gas where you live is fucking expensive
Down to $2.09 right now and that's cheap as crap for us. At one point it got down to like $1.69 and that was an utter miracle lol. And I live in an area that's less expensive; 10 miles north the lowest it gets is like $2.20. But you call this expensive? Geesh, go check out LA, their prices are unforgiving. +Garrett Williamson near where I live we get $3.19
Hey Garrett, just wanted to let you know that I really like these videos, and I hope you keep it up. Although your How to Makes are nice, I think I definetly appreciate these kinds of videos currently, as I will in the future.
Thanks man! I appreciate the support a ton.
Good video as all ways man! Hope to see more RTTTA in the future!
Thanks dude! More RTTTA's on the way.
Garrett Williamson Sweet! I can't wait!
I love how Garrett looks and sounds like he has no emotion but he cracks jokes and his face expression doesn't change 😂
And that makes it at least 19,000,000 times funnier.
Honestly Garret Please make more of these I love them!😍
+Greenguyyell 123 I'll definitely be making more of these, don't worry.
FUCKIN LOVE your musical style. it just makes mewant to dance
I love the translation music. Can you make a full version of it
Garret's Script writing skills 10/10
Those bubbles "That came from the sky" are from the bob-omb cannons.
+kiz epic journey On the mountain.
It's back!!! Thank you
im 14 but i still played it on the n64 so people dont tell me "it was after my time" . as i was younger i was hooked by the game and i think im gonna play it sometimes again i still think it is one of the best mario games

Glad you like em! The biggest way you can help is sharing with your friends! It truly does help a ton! :)
I have but i dont think they appreciate your style and personality or whatever. But its fine at least i do ;) And your commitment as well!
What is that weird transition song called I honestly don't know why but I really like it
The bubbles in BoB come from the cannon manned by the bob-omb on the mountain.
The "Dad Joke" thing is really funny so are you Garret keep it up!
on the mountain in the first stage there is a bob omb next to a cannon, which is what's shooting the bubbles.
There's a canon on bomb-omb battlefield that fires them. If you take the intended pathway up the mountain you'll eventually find it and a stationary bomb-omb (that won't try to attack you) using it (warning: even if you kill him the canon will continue to fire).
The bubbles in Bob omb are fired by cannons on the mountain thing when the Baron is there.
+Garrett Williamson
WHERE'S THE FUCKING BREAD
I really agree with you and WHERE THE HELL DID THAT BUBBLE EVEN CAME FROM!?!?!?
The bubbles I believe come from a cannon in one of those hills under the island.
My technology talks to me too, Garrett do not worry about it. It's not a problem.
Garrett, I also get that when your little, and you play video games it's those little things like you pulling on Mario's face that make it more fun and better to come back to. It's childhood memories.
Those bubbles come from a cannon
The water drops come from the various cannons in the level
Dude I miss these videos, they're honestly some of the best video game content on youtube.
What's so bad about Mario's voice? What did it used to sound like before?
+JesseRoxII I never said there was anything wrong with Mario's voice "before"? I'm saying his voice *now* has gotten way less enthusiastic.
one of the best videos I have ever seen
The bubbles are comming from a cannon that you find on the mountain.
I LOVE YOU GARRETT!
“Hi Koji, I’m a fanboy. Please speak english so i can hug you.”
