The no gun thing for characters such as Shockwave and Sixshot is stupid because they’re cartoony, sci-fi laser guns that do not exist in our world. No one’s going to confuse those characters for actual guns.
As a former soldier who has dealt with strykers, I'd say Megatron isn't a good candidate for that mode. A stryker is primarily a troop carrier that just happens to be capable of being outfitted with some powerful kit. That seems tailor made for an autobot, specifically Ultra Magnus. His Animated incarnation was close. No, for Megs, I'd have to go with the M109 Paladin. It's an artillery tank with some SERIOUS firepower. Plus, the long cannon works well for Megatron's aesthetic.
For Shockwave, I was always fond of the idea to turn him into a submarine after seeing him as a ship in Hearts of Steel. Buuut my favorite idea for him is to just wholesale-y "borrow" the mobile armor form of Gaza-C from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Which is basically a space cannon with claw arms. Bonus points for Gaza-C having an artillery form, so that way we could have a "gun" form for Shockwave.
IMO it is most fitting for Shockwave to be a submarine, an alt mode that is largely unexplored. Though having an airborne alt mode is practical, Seekers and helicopter Decepticons can prove that you stand out like a sore thumb while floating around in air, just waiting for some human AA systems to shoot you down. However, the ocean is mostly unexplored, and large chunks of it are covered in pitch darkness, a perfect place for Shockwave to hide and work on his vile experiments, away from human, Autobot, and Decepticon eyes alike.
TJ, there already is an Earth Vehicle mode for Perceptor. The RtS Perceptor turned into a Half-Track exploration vehicle. Also, personally I'd go with the F-18 A Super Hornet for Thundercracker (as a reference to the Blue Angels)
I'm going to say this. If Cosmos not having a disguise is an issue, then so would the Dinobots, and nobody is going to say they want Grimlock to be a car, no matter how neat the car is. Just update the flying saucer. Hell that plane is gonna turn just as many heads Though that Dike Delta pick you found is an amazing alternative for Bumblebee, even resembles his origins cybertronian mode.
Honestly I was expecting Cyclonus to be an SU-47. Also another really good alt mode for cosmos would be a Vought V-173 as it matches the flying saucer aesthetic. And if we’re talking about new alt modes, I feel like the EA-6B Prowler would work perfectly for Soundwave, with the various cassettes being turned into radar/targeting pods.
The tank mode makes sense for Megatron as the de facto alt mode. Attack helicopter and VTOL also work quite well. Honestly, I'd still rather have him become a big missile launcher truck instead of your suggestion; especially as there is an official Megatron toy that basically is a truck carrying a giant missile; that being Botcon 2006 Megatron.
An idea I had for a while is make Megatron turn into a jet's gun, such as a GUA Avenger, a gun so big its about the same size a Volkswagen beetle. Having Megatron turn into a vehicle gun solves the scale problem of a gun mode while also allowing his initial gimmick of being used by the jets to be reutilize it. Hasbro would probably never take the risk, but I think it's an interesting idea regardless.
My ideas: 1. I think Perceptor as working microscope would still sell (especially for parents) if you include microscope slides. If not, make one of Perceptor's mode an giant telescope instead. 2. Of course keep Cosmos as an UFO, but have him in future Transformers media give him the side role distracting Earth media, militaries, etc as an UFO while having the other Autobots can do missions with little Earthing interference. 3. Keep Cyclonus as Cybertronian vehicle. I think Cyclonus's alt mode should be a more intimidating and alien mode than being a mode that is a form of camouflage (you do this for Megatron). If you want an Earth based alt-mode consider the SR-71 (though it might too big for Cyclonus). 4. There is two Transformers that might need a new alt mode soon: Blast-off and Astrotrain. The shuttle program is over and a space shuttle might an outdated alt-mode.
That's smooth!!! Make Shockwave a satellite, still not sure about Megatron, there are so many things he could be that matches his personality, but SOMEBODY needs to be a submarine for sure!
Yes. We just need more Joe vehicles made into Transformers. Heck, Soundwave as the Black Mamba, with a couple of his cassettes as the rocket pods might work.
I still think making Megatron an A10 warthog is the best solution. It's got a slender profile that would map well to his g1 body, the intakes can become his cannon and the wings his legs for instance, and the fighter is as close to a gun with wings as it gets. I think it's more relevant to the 84 cast of Decepticons as a flyer as well, keeps the fighter jet angle alive. I never liked tank Megatron, at least not as a replacement for his 84 body's alt mode. There just isn't enough meat on that body and it misses out on the single pipe on his back which I feel is a really distinctive feature of his silhouette that gets skipped out on too much.
That fact alone you also thought of a street view car makes me happy. I had the same idea just now and was astonished I saw nobody else think the same thing
Out of all transformers under this category, Megatron doesn’t need a new alt mode. We’ve already gotten the perfect one in 2007, it was Animated’s VTOL Helicopter mode. That mode will forever be my favorite for Megatron.
That would make Thundercracker incredibly outdated and obsolete... I also see him more as the burliest of the three, like a dock worker and more rough and tumble, so a heavier, tougher aircraft.
I also think that having reflector as a bus that is picking up humans that are unaware of who he is can mean he could be picking up personal info from them, and also he would always have a hostage on hand (hey he is a Decepticon). Also having him as a bus makes him have a mobile alt mode.
What do you mean Hubcaps are kind of an outdated thing? I've never seen any vehicle that didn't have hubcaps unless it was an older vehicle that didn't have them anymore. They aren't really needed, it's just a decrative thing that goes over the rim of the tire. And I also still occasionally see cars with spinners and/or LED lights in their hub caps. So I kind of think a Transformer named Hubcap would have those really flashy decrotive ones that mostly either young rich people or middle aged men buy when they're having a midlife crisis.
Perceptor needs to be a pair of oceanside tourist pier binoculars. You know, the kind that are mounted and you put a quarter in for 2 minutes of ocean viewing pleasure.
Cyclonus as a fictional attack helicopter like in Armada makes more sense than ever IMO, both based on name and considering IDW added the Circle of Light sword to his iconography, which gives a good place for the chopper blade kibble to hide.
Megatron as a triplechanger makes the most sense to me. But instead of just making him a tank/fighter jet like we did in Titans Return, he should be an A-10 Warthog and a Gepard Flakpanzer. 2 alt modes specifically chosen to intimidate his own troops. Bludgeon steps out of line? Shred him with the A-10's GAU-8 Avenger gun. Starscream needs to be disciplined? Spank him with the Gepard's antiaircraft flak cannons. Peace through Tyranny.
The Seekers, Reflector I agree with those ideas. Hubcap I'm iffy on the, the others I don't agree on, like the Cosmos choice, Megatron being a tank is FINE it's what he'll stay(he's been a T-Rex and Helicopter and other things, heck even a jet in machine wars) The Cosmos choice is OFF, he's a UFO he's supposed to be a spaceship and doesn't stay on Earth, picking an Earth based design goes against that idea.
You've said before that no transformer is the definitive stealth bomber transformer. I would argue that BB in Beast Wars II wore it well enough to make it his own. I think the Hubcap figure from ROTF was perfect. I'm still surprised we never got a core class Reflector three pack.
Imagine this reflector concept: the main one turns into the rear view mirror of a car and the other 2 turn into the side view mirrors and you attach them to the vehicle mode of another character like minicons
this is a weird concept since mirrors are usually tiny compared to the cars, even it was a large vehicle like a bus or a truck and it was a masterpiece type scale the mirror reflectors would still be roughly headmaster sized
Yes a deluxe, based on one his IDW bodies. I once had a dream about the most amazing Megatron toy that had the stealth bomber, a tank alt mode, and a perfect looking robot mode.
Here are some of my ideas: Silverbolt as a Tupolev Tu-160 supersonic bomber Megatron as a Cybertronian shoulder fired weaponry or a heavy gun truck or Maybe a self propelled artillery Bumblebee as a VW Golf GTI Or Scirocco Perceptor as a space telescope or a space rover or Maybe The Kharkovchanka Antarctic exploration vehicle Soundwave as a U-2 Spyplane and Blaster as a EF-18 electronic warfare Fighter Hubcap as an Alfa Romeo New York taxi concept Reflectors as city utility/cable company vans or work trucks Cosmos as a vehicle based on The Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar And Shockwave should be a heavy Hovercraft like a Zubr or an AEW/C Aircraft As for Wheelie, there's plenty microcars that i think fits him. GM Ultralite and Mean Machine, VW 1-litre cars, BMW Isetta, Messerschmitt KR and other Bubble cars, hell, make him a Carver One three wheeler if we want a more grown-up version of him.
Alternate for Cyclonus that keeps the exact same idea. I do like the X-29 but it may be almost a little too benign and demire for Cyclonus (its an unarmed NASA test aircraft) Perhaps the Russian Sukhoi SU-47? Its also a forward swept wing test bed, but also posed as a fighter and '"'match""' for the F-22 (as if) Though dunno if it would look any better in Lavender than the X-29
I think tank megatron needs to go, the gun is just stupid but the tank feels like a compromise, I think the perfect megaton alt mode would be an artillery cannon
Shockwave could probably work better if you just give him the alt mode that Animated Earth Mode Megatron had. Reflector as a tri-segmented bus (or just a bus for each individual robot)?? This is epic. And maybe with some serious retooling, you can get the big Doomtrain wannabe that is the alt mode of the Hearts of Steel Insecticons. Here's one you can probably get away with: while dinosaurs will probably be always the coolness, how about doing better versions of the War Within Dinobots?? You can say that they needed something more conducive to fighting on Cybertron, so they switched to these heavily armored and heavily armed up vehicles. Plus you have an excuse to bring back that Lightning Strike Coalition variant of the Autobot symbol that was last seen on Fall of Cybertron Grimlock. AAAAAAND these can then be retooled into the Cybertronian Predacons from that one IDW Spotlight story (I think it was Spotlight: Jazz) where Tracks recounted how back in the day on Cybertron, Jazz saved him from the Predacons.
I’ve always thought Megatron’s alt-mode in G1 is perfect for the characterization in that series. In a modern version with G1 inspired personality, I’d make him a Cybertronian cannon. Just a massive cannon that could be held by the seekers or other decently big Deceptions. So basically a gun that’s only designed around other figures.
Honestly would love to see Cosmos being a Voyager satellite, that would suit him better than UFO design. Funnily enough I can see Preceptor being a Rover and kinda suits his character, made for travel and investigation.
yknow what I feel like could suit Megatron pretty well? A big ass WW2 Styled artillery canon, its a call back to G1 Galvatron, and its basically the closest we have to a gun alt mode, and u can take this idea even further and have him turn into an equivalent of the Schwerer Gustav, which is the biggest artillery canon weve had in history thats mounted on a big ass armored train, yes, it would overlap with Atrotrain a bit but I feel like itd be unique enough to have Megz be satisfied, and not only that, but that alt mode would give u an excuse to give Megz the biggest fusion canon u can imagine, which I feel like could be really fun
I had an idea to make Knock Out turn into a scout pod/chicken walker; sleek and fast fitting Knock Out while still falling into the military stylings of the Decepticons.
One transformer that *for sure* needs an modernized alt mode in soundwave, they’ve made him as some some of cars in the past but i’d prefer if soundwave transformed into a van with antennas on top and telecommunications equipment like when some people spy in movies or like those used for news, plus the front of a van fits well as his torso/chest
I've always been a proponent of the seekers all being F15s. It lets their deco express their character, plus they make for fun custom ideas because you can buy them in bulk and make them different characters. Slipstream could be a different jet though.
Hey TJ the Grumman X-29 was developed to flight test the Forward Swept Wing concept, and see if it could lead to a highly maneuverable fighter, with a lower base drag than traditional wing designs. Also, you're right about the design not leading to any production aircraft design with this wing design.
I can still see Cosmos arriving on Earth and being (awkwardly) introduced to Spike. Spike asks about his alt mode, Cosmos realizes he hasn't chosen one yet, so he just sort of looks up at the sky for a minute then turns into the UFO and flies off. Leaving Spike standing there going "wha-where did he see that?" Also obligatory "it's easier to get a real gun than a toy robot that turns into a gun".
skywarp: 😎👌 thundercracker: 🤔 cyclonus: if you give him a drone style sensor unit in place of the cockpit. 📹 wheelie: that could work🤔 perceptor: he NEEDS that as his new altmode! 👽👍 cosmos: AWWWW🥺 love it!☺👍 hubcab: nice!😎👌 Reflector: 🤯🤯🤯BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!! 🚌🚌🚌👍👍👍 shockwave: EPIC! 🚁💥💥💥👍 megatron: ABOUT TIME! i was getting REAL tired of him turning into tanks....🙄 love the video! 🎥 😊👍
Cosmos wouldn't necessarily be limited by his alt-mode. Maybe that could be his mode for traveling in an atmosphere, but if he needed to go into space, he would sprout a rocket booster on the back, and the propeller would retract.
The Google street view car would make for a thematic upgrade for reflector. Instead of the three robots forming one alt mode, they would each be a separate car and then you have your troop build built into the design. I don’t think it would sell well to kids but could work as a colab with Google.
For Perceptor, Rescue Bots Academy has a scene where his microscope altmode can be used as a telescope. Maybe move in that direction? It'll just be a glorified cylinder but...
Anther option for a Cyclonus alt is the Sukoi Su-47 Berkut. As for Skywarp... A Stealth Bomber doesn't really fit his thuggish personality. Maybe something that relies a bit more of brute force and power like the F-4 Phantom or a MiG-31 Foxhound. A Stealth bomber for Scourge however, that works for me.
@@Alverant I get it, but again it's not Skywarp's abilities that make me think the Stealth Bomber's a bad fit. It's how he's a loudmouthed, simple-minded bully with no sense of subtlety.
I do think about this topic a lot, though If I had it my way, vehicles for characters would be only heavily based of off real vehicles in a similar fashion to GTA IV and V. Here's what I'd do for these specific characters: *Skywarp - Sukhoi 47* really cool looking jet painted in black, so perfect fit *Thundercracker - F/18 superhornet* obviously, since the Blue Angels use this jet *Wheelie - 4 wheeler/quadbike* don't know how nobody's thought of this yet, perfect fit in terms of size and feel for the character *Preceptor - Mobile Lab* basically just the old 2010 toy. It's the only avenue I see him going down *Reflector - Google/Bing maps cars* landslide victory for me for obvious reasons *Hubcap - same thing here honestly* can't say no to that 2010 toy, still have it to this day. Though I'd 100% take the chance to have an Ed Roth inspired hot rod *Shockwave - I'm not sure* Tank/attack helicopter is an obvious choice, but thinking about shockwaves role has me doubt he'd really need an earth mode *Megatron - tilt rotor gunship* all the way. He flies, he's heavily armed, and he's big, not to mention that Animated Megatron is peak. *Cyclonus/Cosmos - headache* Personally, due to the contexts behind both of these characters, I'd just suck it up and make them cybertronian spacecraft. No vehicle we have really fits them and what I can think of and the two I see here either feel wrong or are ridiculously outdated
I’d like to see Ironhide as a voyager class but as a boat or an armored vehicle of some kind. I love the G1 van but one of the things I liked about bayverse was Ironhide’s design
Look up the MiG-105, a Soviet testbed for a spaceplane with a "lifting body." It'll be PERFECT as Cosmos' alt mode. As a bonus, it looks like the reconnaissance jet the Cobra Night Raven carried on its back- the mold was reused for the GI Joe Avenger spaceplane that came with the Crusader space shuttle- justifying a 'Transformers vs. GI Joe' crossover.
I feel like race cars make for poor disguises especially when they are based on highly specific classic race cars like Jazz, Mirage, Wheeljack, and Smokescreen for example. They should be hiding in plain sight without looking suspicious.
If you wanted to keep the space theme for Cosmos, maybe you could have him turn into a Soyuz capsule, that would actually make sense as a green vehicle. Or that ISS lifeboat concept, the Crew Return vehicle. It looks a pudgy little mini space shuttle, the only reason it might not work is because that thing is so iconically black and white. For your segmented bus version of Reflector, I would love that, AND I would want them to do a repaint of it that's a subway train, perhaps as a spinoff group or special edition.
Oh, and by the way, TJ, this aircraft was already adapted into a Transformer toy: Autobot Dogfight, an Autobot Triggerbot, wearing a two tone blue scheme
For Megatron... if you like the tank but want something different, how about something like a SOV - 2S7M Malka? It's got a big cannon, treads, but its not a tank. It's got an evil, overpowered look about it too.
Cool call on shockwave but the Comanche is in production it's limited it's awesome to see flying over your town no one really takes a second look at a helicopter but if you know what helicopters and the differences are or aircraft platforms you know when you say a Comanche you don't hear it you see it unless you're right under it. and I thought the Grumman was excellent choice for cyclonus also but the Comanche is flying in airspace over the US. I saw a squad of 3, the Air Force flies out of Columbus Mississippi over our town for maneuvers
For Cosmos you could do the Boeing X-37 It's a 30 ft drone shaped similar to the shuttle orbiter. It's space related, it's curvy, but it can end up being a good blocky boy
it'd be neat to have more aquatic altmodes pitched for characters, but then those tend to run into "The Knight Boat Problem" that said, the Hearts of Steel concept for Shockwave as an ironclad warship was neat; a more modernized vision could go for something like an actual submarine or a guided missile cruiser Perceptor as some kind of oceanic research vessel could also work
I feel like for megatron, youcould do a cybertonian self propelled big bertha style vehicle. essnetially a really big piece of artillery with some levitating capabilities wouod be on brand for megs
I thought the same for skywarp… but for thundercracker I was thinking the f14 tomcat… and its moving wings was linked to the boom… for wheelie i was thinking a smartcar
Shockwave is best left core size so he can be a scifi gun mode and beheld by other figures and you don't need to worry about the safey thing. Megatron deserves to be tripple changer, Tank+Jet is always a good combination
Soundwave, as much as the cassette player is iconic, i feel like he should be a triple changer, alien ship, cassette player, and robot something like was shown in Fall of Cybertron

For Megs, I'd like either a Howitzer, or, Titanize him into the Gustav. Or some type of railcannon, would still be enjoyable.
Gustav is out because of the HH88 people
@@larrychilders6599 The whonow? I am VERY unaware of things.
@samurexatlas7373 the people who ruled Germany in 1933-45
There is a third party Transformer that turns into the Gustav. Toys Easy Doragus
@@Ascendedninja6 I am aware
Cute yellow and black kind of roundish aircraft. Bumblebee tries out for the Seekers.
Hubcap I'm iffy on the, the others I don't agree on, like the Cosmos choice, Megatron being a tank is FINE it's what he'll stay(he's been a T-Rex and Helicopter and other things, heck even a jet in machine wars)
The Cosmos choice is OFF, he's a UFO he's supposed to be a spaceship and doesn't stay on Earth, picking an Earth based design goes against that idea.
I also really enjoyed Megatron in IDW as a stealth bomber
Megatron was a stealth bomber I think during the thrilling 30
Yes a deluxe, based on one his IDW bodies. I once had a dream about the most amazing Megatron toy that had the stealth bomber, a tank alt mode, and a perfect looking robot mode.
Here are some of my ideas:
Silverbolt as a Tupolev Tu-160 supersonic bomber
Megatron as a Cybertronian shoulder fired weaponry or a heavy gun truck or Maybe a self propelled artillery
Bumblebee as a VW Golf GTI Or Scirocco
Perceptor as a space telescope or a space rover or Maybe The Kharkovchanka Antarctic exploration vehicle
Soundwave as a U-2 Spyplane and Blaster as a EF-18 electronic warfare Fighter
Hubcap as an Alfa Romeo New York taxi concept
Reflectors as city utility/cable company vans or work trucks
Cosmos as a vehicle based on The Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar
And Shockwave should be a heavy Hovercraft like a Zubr or an AEW/C Aircraft
As for Wheelie, there's plenty microcars that i think fits him.
I do like the X-29 but it may be almost a little too benign and demire for Cyclonus (its an unarmed NASA test aircraft)
Perhaps the Russian Sukhoi SU-47?
Its also a forward swept wing test bed, but also posed as a fighter and '"'match""' for the F-22 (as if)
Though dunno if it would look any better in Lavender than the X-29
Your concept for Reflector is my favorite! I've never heard of a bot known for THAT altmode. I need that toy now.
I know that there’s some Japanese toy for Optimus Prime around Toyota’s lunar cruiser and yet it would work for Perceptor.
@BryonYoungblood I'm tempted to paint that one, now.
I'm shocked there really haven't been many Bus Transformers. That Schoolbus Decepticon from GI Joe vs Transformers needs to be done.
Shockwave as a Blackhawk helicopter. Kup as a Huey helicopter.
Kup as a 1970's era ford
18:34 lol that's the bus I used to take... last place I thought i'd see it again. Very far from its home.
They actually did redeco Whirl into a helicopter Shockwave once!
I think tank megatron needs to go, the gun is just stupid but the tank feels like a compromise, I think the perfect megaton alt mode would be an artillery cannon
Doesn't solve the problem of the stationary part
I prefer Megatron as an aircraft, personally
I just prefer the idea of him being a triple changer to Tank/Jet.
@@MegamanlanprimeI like that idea but instead of Jet/tank it would a Bomber/artillery cannon
Howitzer Megatron!
11:48 Maybe slim it up and give it earth wheels and we could definitely have a Research Transport.
Cosmos could be a Lockheed Martin X-33, Cyclonus could be a Sukhoi Su-47, and the Seekers are a mix of MIGs and Sukhois
I always imagine had wheelie had an earth mode, he would be a go-cart
yknow what I feel like could suit Megatron pretty well?
These are some inspired choices! Can see a lot of work went into it. All perfect.
Leaving Spike standing there going "wha-where did he see that?"
Also obligatory "it's easier to get a real gun than a toy robot that turns into a gun".
There's official Animated artwork of Perceptor becoming both the microscope and an off-road vehicle with the microscope.
Would love to see more of these! Especially earth mode technobots like you said
Soundwave as a news van with the tapes being the equipment
I had something similar to this but he's a Humvee-esque armored vehicle and all the radios and comms stored inside are the minicons
@@Kuwagattai he just fits those boxy bulky vehicles so well
skywarp: 😎👌
thundercracker: 🤔
cyclonus: if you give him a drone style sensor unit in place of the cockpit. 📹
wheelie: that could work🤔
perceptor: he NEEDS that as his new altmode! 👽👍
cosmos: AWWWW🥺 love it!☺👍
hubcab: nice!😎👌
Reflector: 🤯🤯🤯BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!! 🚌🚌🚌👍👍👍
shockwave: EPIC! 🚁💥💥💥👍
megatron: ABOUT TIME! i was getting REAL tired of him turning into tanks....🙄
love the video! 🎥 😊👍
18:05 - 18:10 Isn't that similar to Movieverse Junkheap?
Cause I know I saw some fan art where the Reflector trio were reimagined as film studio cars.
Cosmos wouldn't necessarily be limited by his alt-mode. Maybe that could be his mode for traveling in an atmosphere, but if he needed to go into space, he would sprout a rocket booster on the back, and the propeller would retract.
I see shockwave as submarine or a naval battle cruiser, Can see Perceptor as an arctic research vehicle or a heck an explorer research boat.
Very enjoyable video. I want that segmented bus transformer!!!
His teleport ability may work well with a stealth bomber. Fly high, teleport to a lower altitude to drop bombs, teleport back up.
@@Alverant I get it, but again it's not Skywarp's abilities that make me think the Stealth Bomber's a bad fit. It's how he's a loudmouthed, simple-minded bully with no sense of subtlety.
Blaster. Him turning into a boombox just doesn't cut it anymore. I imagine more of a music van with massive speakers, like his FOC figure.
Your idea for Perceptor is genious
I say it was the right idea for megatron as a missile truck, but the missile becomes the fusion canon. Looking at Diaclone Gale for inspiration here.
I always thought of Thundercracker being a tanky bruiser who also has a cannon arm and Skywarp is a gangly yet cowardly (and speedy) trickster
I was gonna say Mitsubishi 2000 GT for Hubcap but your idea is spot on, great idea!
I do think about this topic a lot, though If I had it my way, vehicles for characters would be only heavily based of off real vehicles in a similar fashion to GTA IV and V. Here's what I'd do for these specific characters:
*Skywarp - Sukhoi 47*
really cool looking jet painted in black, so perfect fit
*Thundercracker - F/18 superhornet*
obviously, since the Blue Angels use this jet
*Wheelie - 4 wheeler/quadbike*
don't know how nobody's thought of this yet, perfect fit in terms of size and feel for the character
*Preceptor - Mobile Lab*
basically just the old 2010 toy. It's the only avenue I see him going down
*Reflector - Google/Bing maps cars*
landslide victory for me for obvious reasons
*Hubcap - same thing here honestly*
can't say no to that 2010 toy, still have it to this day. Though I'd 100% take the chance to have an Ed Roth inspired hot rod
*Shockwave - I'm not sure*
Tank/attack helicopter is an obvious choice, but thinking about shockwaves role has me doubt he'd really need an earth mode
*Megatron - tilt rotor gunship*
all the way. He flies, he's heavily armed, and he's big, not to mention that Animated Megatron is peak.
*Cyclonus/Cosmos - headache*
Personally, due to the contexts behind both of these characters, I'd just suck it up and make them cybertronian spacecraft. No vehicle we have really fits them and what I can think of and the two I see here either feel wrong or are ridiculously outdated
I think Cosmos should be a blimp.
14:13 - 14:16 It makes sense for him in IDW since he was huge.
1986 movie characters in Earth modes. Dragster Blurr, GM F-150 Kup, Stealth Jet Cyclonus, hovercraft Scourge, Pink Cadillac Arcee, Smart Car Wheelie.
I think it would be cool to have Megatron as a Soviet Ekranoplan. Super huge and imposing
I feel like race cars make for poor disguises especially when they are based on highly specific classic race cars like Jazz, Mirage, Wheeljack, and Smokescreen for example. They should be hiding in plain sight without looking suspicious.
Kids don't want too many cars like the ones their parents actually drive apparently.
13:10 reminds me of Bumblebees G1 cybertronian mode
When you revealed the Cosmos alternate mode I audibly gasped “omygod that’s adorable”
Funny thing is while it wasn't brought into Go-Bots, we had an Saturn V rocket in Machine Robo, who would probably be easier to update in some ways.
I like the idea of Wheelie being a Power Wheels / Barbie Jeep if you will, or something of that nature that is like a chibi car for kids 😂
Tidalwave is one that the dark fleet is cool but a battleship is cooler like say uss west Virginia
A good idea for megs and Shockwave would be a Gustave rail cannon
It's space related, it's curvy, but it can end up being a good blocky boy
it'd be neat to have more aquatic altmodes pitched for characters, but then those tend to run into "The Knight Boat Problem"
that said, the Hearts of Steel concept for Shockwave as an ironclad warship was neat; a more modernized vision could go for something like an actual submarine or a guided missile cruiser
Perceptor as some kind of oceanic research vessel could also work
There's a reason the main aquatic G1 Autobot was a Hovercraft...
