Good job! I am slowly trying to recreate your set up, without the ibc/drain bed. My aubergines just aren't germinating so might need the perlite/vermiculite mix.
How long did it take to grow the seeds to when you first transplanted them and again how long was it till they were ready to put into your NFT system. Thanks
I’ve already started the seedlings on 1.0-1.6 EC nutrient in the germination trays (I’m pretty loose) so in the propagator I use 1.6 EC But I’m still figuring out what works best so take these as rough numbers.
Hey Hoocho, Just wanted to make sure I understand this - you started the seeds themselves at 1.0-1.6 EC from the very beginning while they were in the perlite trays? Also do those trays need to recirculate / aerate to work properly?
Hey love your work. Do you think it is safe to use camping mats or yoga mats. I am keen to move away from net pots to foam disk but just want to make sure they are food safe
Hey, I LOVE your channel. I have been binge watching your videos for the last few days. Can you run a experiment for me? Setup a standalone NFT system that has about four plants of your choosing. Then instead of using purchased hydroponic mix ........use some worm tea (liquid made by worms in worm farm) ........ I want to see if you can get the same results from worm tea so a person does not have to relie on purchased fertilizers. Keep up the great work......I am using the information from your videos to build my own setup. Thanks
Hey mate, love the video, and the tunes. What concentration are you using for the mini puck seedling stage? I'm using this system and they don't seem to be growing nearly as fast as yours. Cheers
I generally use a 1/2 strength concentration, so you’re looking at about 1.2EC, once you see the first true leaf you can bump it up to 1.8, then up to 2.4 when the growth is accelerating. Make sure the nutrient you’re using has calcium included or a Cal-Mag complex. Especially if you’re on tank water. Calcium and magnesium is essential during seedling stage.
Hi mate how much water is required in the top bowl every day to run through the system? How often do you wet the grow media? my reservoir section is about 3/4 full of water
@@Hoocho cheers mate. Ive been putting the 3/4 full reservoir tray back into the top tray once or twce a day, seeds have all sprouted well, mixed lettuce took alot longer. Now moved them into the bigger tray with the bigger canopy for head height and under heat mat. growing nicely. When can i add nutrient to the small germenated plants? And how would you work out what 1/4 1/2 or 3/4 strength would be ?
Work with what you’ve got. The only benefit is if the bottom of the channel is ribbed. To channel the water and create a root mat. As long as the nutrients are in a film I find any of the methods work great.
I have tried replicating this. With everything you are using. I am getting root rot or something thats growing in the water and killing the plants. They also dont seem to be growing as quick as yours. Nor do the roots get any length to them. Perhaps my mars t1000 isnt set up correctly (height wise it is)? Perhaps your water levels are different (mines filled to the brim, even has the air pump stones)? Have i totally missed something?
Hoocho reason I ask is I’ve been unable to get that one in uk and manufacturer couldn’t be bothered to reply when I asked if I could get it in uk. So have to look at something else. Does each level drain completely or just to the level of the little upstand drain hole?

King Gizzard and the hydroponics wizard
Submerging the seedlings. Fucking Genius.
really liked seeing the process. thanks for the time lapse
Mate that was very Cool ,Music, time lapse ,You out did your self ,Two thumbs up
Told you ,you are very cool keep it up man
I like the music! Thanks for that!
Great song. Where do you get the round bowls you used in the beginning. Wonderful video. That Swiss chard is fantastic.
Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/mdRQY_pq_1g/видео.html
after rinsing the perlite and vermiculite, is it possible to use it again or it should undergo for any treatment process to use it again?
I like the music, good job man.

i had to say that this is cool video, enjoy the music while learning, thank you ^_^
great going nice setup, do you still like it? how many people is it feeding?.hate the music had to mute it..
Nice video. Where did you get that seedling starter container? Loved the propagator time lapse, so cool.
Here’s the video I did on it: ruclips.net/video/uJcNLD36GMg/видео.html
@@Hoocho Awesome, thanks!

10 days from seed, 13 days in the propagator.
This is a great way to start seeds and transplants. I am still using Rockwool but this looks do-able.
Hey Hoocho, great time lapse, (slow mo haha).. When the plants are in the seedling propagator what was your routine for adding nutrients?

Noted. Operating without an ‘EC wand’ at the moment so I’ll see how it goes haha. A lot of trial and error.
Ben Gazzola Just use the manufacturers guidelines for seedlings, if they don’t have any, go the 1/2 to start, then 3/4, then full. 😊
Hey mate can you link me the systems you use to seed and propagate? Big ups from a very happy fellow NFT grower thanks to your videos!
Check out my channel, all the videos are there and give instruction on how to build them yourself 😊

I just filled it full and let it run through.

Are you using hydroponic nutrient?
@@Hoocho Yes, the manutec powder. Light is set up for 18hours on.
Jesse Winfield try lowering the nutrient level an inch, the breaking bubbles should encourage the roots to grow faster in the air.
Does you send starter retain water or does it all drain out?
It floods and drains, all the information is in my guide to seed starting. 😊
