So many of these dancewear companies are still catering to stick-thin, boobless, curveless dancers. I'm waiting for the day when they realize that dancers have diverse bodies nowadays 💕

Totally with you Emma, also not many cater for adult sizes. It’s so depressing having to buy something sized XXL. So Danca are one of the few that do good adult sizes and I have that exact leotard she models in both short and long sleeves!

Yeah like I’m sure they’re fine if you get the lined ones or the ones in velvet, but the fact that they even have the option of no lining is kinda weird… like to me lining is a must for all Leos

Not a fan of it but yumiko is more of a brand designed for the "ideal ballet body" (smaller breasts etc). They literally had a sign in their Tokyo store saying "yumiko is specifically made for ballet dancer's body type. If you are not one, go size up. Don't pull the fabric, it might broke" completely ignored dancers with boobs😑😑...I didn't enjoy that experience but it was a while ago when I visited. And I did notice some of their new designs got better for more body types. Also if you chose a lighter color, try ask if you can use the same color fabric for the lining too. Cuz the beige lining sometimes still shows through if the color is too light. In conclusion, they have their problems but when EVERYTHING done right, they can still get the most complements in studio and from teachers imo tho. 😉

    • @ultravioletspirit

@@ultravioletspirit ohh I agree they are VERY expensive but the quality, at least fir all 3 that I have, is good if not the best. Above all things they last me the longest of all brands and still look new. Believe it or not, one brand consitstantly last about 3 wears and the straps streached out exposing my tits... But I 100% agree with you that yumiko is still too expensive in general even for its good quality! For hard working dancers and students, they can do better.

So far, I've bought Elevé, Gaynor Minden, Yumiko, Degas, WearMoi, So Dança, and repetto. As a teenager, I used to wear Freed since that was our uniform brand, but now as a recreational dancer, I have different needs. I'm tall and not pin-thin. My experience: Yumiko is not cut for very curvy dancers, and the company mentions that on their website. I gained a few pounds after buying my Yumis and they don't fit anymore, they are definitely not forgiving, and I used to wear a size XL! My main problem with Yumiko are the sleeves, which are rather tight, my arms are not extremely thin, but not extremely big either. If you're a professional dancer, can afford it and find the right style and size, they are worth it because the quality is good, and you have so many colour choices. Elevé has as many options, if not more, in terms of styles, fabrics and colours. The fit is intended to be comfortable for dancers with a longer torso, the leos have a bust liner by default, if you want full front lining, they charge a little more. They can be a little snug in the beginning but expand after a while, but if you choose cap or short sleeves, the seems might be a bit tight on your arms. This company also mainly caters to professional dancers, but they have very good customer service and if you have questions or requests, they are happy to help you. With WearMoi, my opinion is a bit divided, all leos have full front lining which I don't particularly like, but the sizing is reliable and the quality of the fabric is good. As for Degas, I had the same problem as Claudia, I ordered the biggest size (Degas being a French brand, the leos tend to run small) and it was a little too short, but boxy at the same time, so not the right fit for me. The fabric is nice, though. Gaynor Minden does not have the right fit for me, the fabric is very soft and stretchy, the shelf bra is too short and it just doesn't work, but the quality is good. So Dança is probably one of the brands for taller/curvier dancers, the leos definitely don't run small, maybe even a little large, the quality is good and they have a wide range of styles to choose from. Repetto is also a brand I'd recommand for tall dancers. Some leos come with a shelf bra, others have full front lining, and some styles have no lining, so read the descriptions carefully if you shop online. The supplex fabric is soft and very comfortable, but not supportive, so some people might have to wear a bra underneath. I hope someone finds this helpful.

Luckyleo is a very young brand from Denver. I love supporting them because they're small and local, and I'm just a sucker for handpainted prints. That being said, they do have lots of room to grow, especially in their sizing. I have quite an athletic, muscular build and need to get a size large to comfortably dance in them. I realize I don't have a typical dancer body being an adult beginner who used to be a long-distance runner and swimmer, but I'm on the smaller side compared to most other adult American women. I wish dancewear brands would differentiate between child styles and sizes and adult. Us older dancers need something to wear too!

Eleve is easily my favourite leotard brand...i find that the Lycra they use is a nice thickness, and everything stays where it is (especially with those with a chest). The floral patterns are much much nicer than some of the geometric patterns. And the cuts suit my long torso as well.
I also own a yumiko, but i only own one and in black, and choose eleve over yumiko..especially as the price is cheaper for eleve...
And don’t get me started on lucky Leo...i had two and had to get rid of them as they were too short in the torso, so much so that they cut into my shoulders. I only ever wore them once so I don’t honestly think they were worth it.

I actually am coming back to this, because something didn't sit well with me after watching. My eight and a half year old daughter really looks up to you, and I'm really disappointed you went after other small businesses. Lucky Leo and Eleve are both small businesses in the US. I've ordered both Lucky Leo and Yumiko, and they ask you what type of liner you want inside. So that means you purposely didn't get them lined with a full liner, which is unfair. You talk so much about supporting each other, and then laughed about other women-led small businesses who are doing what your doing: serving a population of dancers.
Your leotards are very high quality, but you don't have to put down other businesses to prove that. Most of our dancers own leotards from multiple brands for different reasons. I actually showed this video to my daughter and it made her not want to buy your new leotards. Her exact words "I thought we were supposed to be supporting each other? This is mean girl stuff."

Hi Stephanie, reviewing brands via a haul has been my #1 requested video. This is an honest review/feedback and just my opinion. I spent over $1000 on these leos and to be honest, some were just genuinely disappointing and not what I would feel comfortable wearing as a professional or student, let alone my young daughter. Producing/creating my own leotards myself, I know that having liner in a leotard is a necessity & I would never dare to sell one without it. So as a customer, having to purchase liner on top of getting the leotard itself is poor on the brands behalf- it isn’t a completed product without lining (in my opinion). I see that as a quick way to get more unnecessary money out of customers, which I don’t appreciate either. This was an honest review & I’ve done plenty of these types of vids in the past, as well as seeing so many reviews on my own brand as well. I love reviews because I can get genuine feedback from my customers and it allows you to improve your business in every way possible.
I’m not stopping you from buying from these brands, you can still do that. This video is my opinion, from my experience purchasing from them. I’d encourage others to purchase and form their opinion too. CD ❤️

I don't spend much on leos. I wish I could, but I just cant. I buy m.j ins clearanced from discount dance. Capezio is hit or miss, but sodanca is awesome like she said. One day I'll get a CD......

I was curious about the Gaynor leotard because from afar it seems the most similar to CDW but once you tried it on... Nothing beats CDW! Congrats, Claudia🥺❤️

I have Degas, Yumiko, and So Danca leotards. Yumiko leotards are actually very good, but make sure you add a lining especially if you choose a lighter nylon color. I have a more complex feeling about Degas--some styles look nice, but some seem to be very picky on what your body shape is. In general, Degas have high cut leg lines and low cut on the chest, its very soft material called "meryl soft" is meant to make you feel the leotard fits you like a glove, however, it shows every bit of your body shape. Another problem with Degas is that its sizing seems different from styles to styles. For example, I have a size 1 for one style that's significantly smaller than other size 1's, and a size 1 for another style that's significantly bigger than other size 1's. It's better if you can try first before paying big bucks for it. So Danca is a very "safe" choice--I think it can look good on anybody. Another "safe" choice I think is Wear Moi. Having to wear all different kinds of leotards over the years, I have this suggestion: You actually don't want the material too soft and thin, b/c it just shows everything and can be a problem for some people. Thicker lycra/nylon actually looks better and help shaping your body.

My daughters wear Bloch and Mirella leotards. Most of them fit well and they are pretty inexpensive at around $20-30 in the US. It was difficult finding leotards that fit well and stayed in place for acro and jazz.
Your leotards are BEAUTIFUL! One day I’ll buy one for each of my girls 💜

I bought my daughter your candy pink leo from Bloch about three years ago (I think it was from your first line) and it still fits her beautifully (she's 15 now). From the other brands you reviewed, she also has a couple of Eleve leos and 4 Lucky Leos. She tried the Eleve leos on in store so they were perfect but the Lucky Leos were ordered online. Fortunately, the sizing was perfect and every leo was beautiful. It all comes down to buying leos in a colour and style that suit your body shape and flatter you. From the brands you reviewed the So Danca looked the best. I really liked your purple leo - might make a great Christmas present!

Please please please make a range for adult beginner ballet students that fit all sizes. A lot of us need to be able to wear (and hide) a super supportive bra, and want our arms to be covered, at least to the elbow, perhaps by breathable soft lace or mesh.
A stretch lace that sits over the top of the leotard lining would be nice too, so then our bra lines wouldn't be seen at all. Or even just make lace tops we can wear over no sleeve leotards. Flutter sleeves, pretty colours or patterned prints, and options for snap close crutch (like a bodysuit) would be fantastic. Mix and match leggings, or skirts in solid (not see through) materials would be awesome too.
We are a growing market, that is NOT catered for AT ALL by the dancewear or fitness apparel companies.

Putting down other brands to promote your own is not something to be admired. If your brand is quality people will see that without you having to do things like this. You go on and on about being a positive role model and then post videos like this? Doesn’t really fit with your social media persona.

Hi Spacie- rating other brands via a haul has been my #1 requested video by my followers- so naturally of course I’m going to produce what everyone wants. This is an honest haul & if the brands couldn’t handle the honest review/feedback, then they should work on the quality of their products and review their pricing🤷🏼‍♀️ Unfollow me if you can’t handle it ❤️

I have two black Yumikos (the Denise and then Daria) they are both amazing! I ordered a color one and I’m glad I made the top (silver) velvet because I was going to make it a light pink 😳😳! Don’t worry I am not coming for you in any way, shape or form! Just saying that their styles are amazing but sometimes the colors can be misleading 😁😁

Like ballet shoes, I think leotards are really personal - different brands fit differently for different bodies. I have a very slim upper body but a relatively thicker bust and had always sought for leotards that flatter the hip/leg line. Degas was a favourite in my teens because they sit so nicely just above the hip bones but still fully cover the butt. I remember the fabric was soft but had structure and covered everything nicely. (Grishko's in my experience also had a higher cut leg but just could not cover my butt.) Wear Moi's were always super elegant and fit fine. Bloch's were hit and miss. Repetto's were quite delicate but really nice when I found the right fit. Chacott also had some really nice ones with seams that were just super flattering.
I was not a fan of Yumiko as a teen, because they had a relatively lower leg cut. That was in the earlier days of the brand, and I think they have modified a lot of things since then. But now in my twenties, Yumiko has grown to become my absolute favourite - quite simply because of its durability. They are by far the longest-lasting leotards in my wardrobe - many lasting 5+ years when other brands would have broken seams or deteriorating elastics, etc. The leg line also works better as my body grew a bit bigger and more mature. The fabric is very comfortable on the body, holds up nicely, and gives my body more room to breathe than most other brands, although lining is definitely necessary for the lighter colours.
Anyhow, leotards are so personal, and one would need to figure out what works best for oneself.

I’m not sure what is up with unlined Leo’s, I don’t know a single dancer/instructor that wants semi sheer coverage for the entire class to see through. I can see a sheer panel or sleeve for a performance leotard, but not for everyday class. Love your vids!!

Leotard 1 NO WAY SEE THROUGH THAT'S NOT GOOD 1/10
LEOTARD 2 NO SHAPE NOT FLATTERING BACK WAD JUST STRAIGHT ACROSS MID BACK 4/10
LEOTARD 3 TOO HIGH AT THE BACK BUT OMG THE FRONT IS NICE 7/10
LEOTARD 4 NOT ENOUGH COVERAGE AROUND THE ARM AREA NEEDS SOME BACK COVERAGE 5/10
LEOTARD 5 LOOKS NICE,BACK LOOKS GOOD BUT YEAH COULD BE LOWER,HIGHER LEG ARCH I WOULD SAY 6/10
LEOTARD 6 UHHHH 😳😳 FRONT NEEDS MORE COVERAGE,NEEDS THE LEG CUT BETTER,SEE THROUGH 1/10
    LEOTARD 7 YOUR LEO STUNNING,AMAZING,PERFECT FIT,SEAM LINES,HIGH LEG ARCH,COLOUR IS AMAZING,SCOOPED NECK,COMFORTABLE,LOW BACK CUT,BREATHABLE 10/10

Só Dança is the best brand for me precisely because the fabric is "heavier" and thicker. Is the only brand that really supports my breast.
I'm very excited to prove your brand, but I live in Brazil and the dollar is very expensive compared to the Brazilian Real.

And they all more or less fit you which is interesting. ha ha Plus, you did look cute in all of them. Hmmmmm.
