In south, good movies also get ignored especially Kerala, the youth population is high, which is why movies like Premalu and Aavesham became blockbusters. Vijay Sethupathi is KINDA like a superstar, which is why "Maharaj" became a hit. While, in Bollywood, the rise of OTT have persuaded audience to watch those movies in OTT rather than spending money on movie tickets. If you take a close look at most of the good movies released this year, they could not make alot of money in theatres, but they do fetch ALOT of MONEY on OTT. The hindi audience just want to see superstars (SRK, Salman, Ranbir) in the theatres.

I am a Telugu. I loved Kill too..i saw that in Vijayawada in a full house theater on its 3rd day. Entire theater enjoyed the movie..we Telugu, Tamil and Kannada people generally like violent movie.. KILL is a kind of action movie which I always wanted to see on Indian screen.. if it is a Telugu, Tamil or Kannada movie, it would have been a bigger hit..

I am from South of India and i have seen kill and tumbbad on big screen. Both are masterpiece in their own class. The whole india is busy with high budget high cast films. Movies like tumbbad are far better and deserve more recognition.

the thing is connectivity, making movies with western concepts and having a western screenplay doesn't make a good movie according to audiences. the stories and the screenplay should have connectivity to major masses. that is where bollywood fails.
Me and my friends watched kill(from Kerala) most of the people who dont follow films that much or rarely see hindi films watched it (l couldn't care less about Hindi movies).the film did got the support it demanded. 1.They should have marketed it 2.and ott release should have been delayed.
