    Is it just me or does it seem like doctors back then just randomly guessed at cause of death? I have seen so many of these BC videos where someone dies of poisoning, and the doctors come up with some diagnosis that the victim had absolutely no signs of in life. They drop dead and all of a sudden, "yup, it was kidney problems. Get em in the ground and pay out the window who keeps pestering us"

    • @MarianneKat
      @MarianneKat 2 года назад +2

      They didn't have the testing and diagnostics they do now, and generally took the symptoms and outside physical data and went with the most likely answer. An intriguing part of the story is, that medicine was beginning to have scientific data and testing, and while this gave Arthur a way of testing and generating deadly germs, there was also a way to test for them. This is what tripped him up in the end. Notice the stomach had to be sent to U of M for testing. It was probably 1 of the only places that could test at that time.

    It's so sad to see a young man with so much promise turned to crime. He certainly could have become successful if he had been honest, unlike most criminals. Usually if meningitis leaves permanent effects, they are intellectual disabilities, memory problems or an expressionless face (flat affect). It's hard to imagine that someone could be intellectually normal after meningitis and be left with psychopathy as the only defect.

    I’ll say one thing about Arthur. Although s mass murderer, he came up with quite a colorful defense.

    Everyone is praising Percy Peck, and rightly so, but I noticed another hero of the story… the mortician that Waites paid off to use the arsenic method, and then he didn’t. What a perfect combination of ethics AND hustle!

    Mr. B. C., You gave us a double-whammy this week--first, with the video on Elizabeth Brownrigg and now with this one. Thanks. As for the content of this video, I think the story speaks for itself.

    The man had an easy life, a nice wife, generous in-laws, but still carried out murder. Stick to your instincts, when dealing with people, it is the only truth in your body. Peace be unto you.

    Slippery customer at times , and yet stupid at other times… a narcissist ? very interesting story indeed. God rest his victims souls, thank you for telling their story… oh and there’s something to be said for a protective big brother. He didn’t fall for the superficial charm of the killer. I never heard of this case either. I don’t know how you find them, but thank you very much.
