I used to work nights and Bob was on every morning 9 till 10am on sky TV. his soft tones used to send me asleep. I used to lie there with my eyes shut listening to him painting and picturing it in my mind. then I would open my eyes and compare my version to his! thanks bob

I watched Bob since the 80s, and he helped me do what is in my ❤, paint. I cannot use oils because of lung disease, but I love doing acrylics using new created techniques. Bob would be shocked and so proud to see people almost 30 years later are still watching him and learning. He is the 1st original painting teacher. I watched him on PBS, public broadcasting. I will always love and watch you my dear kind friend. You brought me through rough times and I will never forget. 💚🍁💚Julie 🍁 Nova Scotia, Canada. 🍁

A wonderful talent gone to soon. I watched Bob on PBS for many years and I have to give him all my thanks for the art that I create to this day. He inspired me and his devotion to the arts was undying. Thank you Bob for sharing your gift to all artists young and old. :)

You can see a big tree coming when Bob says "Let's get crazy".

My friend studied engineering in college and would outright mock the arts. I showed him Bob Ross one day. He watched, transfixed-- and as far as I know, he never insulted an artist again!
I feel like I'm in for such a treat whenever he says "I tell you what...".

The sky in itself is a master piece
During these stressful months of 2020, I luckily found Bob Ross, and he and I have become very good friends. I had heard of him, of course, but had never taken the opportunity to really investigate The Joy of Painting with him. For the past 6 months, we have met almost every afternoon for a couple of hours, which has become very therapeutic for me. I am an artist and have painted traditionally for about 12 years, but never realized what I'd been missing until I learned Bob's unique way of painting. It is so different from how I've painted over the years, and I doubt I will go back to how I painted before. Just as importantly, I can honestly say that Bob's relaxing method of teaching has helped me through these weeks when stress and depression was taking over my life, and I'm so thankful for what he has taught me and the
calming effect he has had on me.

I just started painting, but my kids got me cheap oil paint kit for Xmas and brush kit. And small canvases . .but just to get me started. .I love my boys. ... But none of it works right unless you use proper paint and brushes etc, my paintings look good from distance but I am gonna get set up like Bob with extra brushes.. always love$ watching Bob since was little . .he was the chillest ,down to earth human being and u can feel the care n passion . .he makes it so easy for you

I've always loved how lopsided Bob's buildings are, especially when he rushes to complete it. No idea how that little cabin is standing.

He died before I was even born...and I never saw his shows on tv at all. I didn't even know who he was until years later when I was in middle school...I'm glad this channel exists

Those words - " Let me tell you what , lets get crazy here " whenever bob say those , I eventually get to know that now he's gonna do something marvellous . He takes us to the different world ^_^.
I'm not one to paint myself, but watching him (or anyone else do it) is always nice :). Wish there were more TV shows that are uplifting and educational like this.

It's absolutely not the kind of paintings I would buy for home, but I'm always fascinated and can't prevent myself from watching, till the end and after. Always a calm and quiet landscape appears under his famous brushes. Great moment of calm

@lily liquid white is a thinner version of regular white paint (that just means it is easier to mix colors with/on) 😊 hope that helps

This show has got to be one of the best ever. Amazing painting, one of my very favorites. And the instruction is particularly excellent in this one. He even acknowledged how unreal he makes things look, but told us "it looks better" and told us about how with your first tube of paint, you get your artist license :-)
So now we can know from where all those sunset scapes colors artist inspired. This one is real son of a gun.

I love this painting and how all the colors blend in the sky. The only thing I am unsure about is the absence of a reflection on the river for the grass and the trees. Does anyone know if these should reflect, or if the water captures only the bright colors of the sky? Could it be Ross kipped that because the time has has for each painting is only 26-27 minutes?

One would never guess he was the one who yelled at people in the air force. He hated that part it was said. Such a gentle voice and soothing way about him. Recently stumbled upon his channel on tubi....I listen/watch and crochet. Makes me feel at ease.
