- Got Bored at 3am and decided to make an Initial D edit to test my editing skills since i haven't really edited in over a year. Maybe I should start editing again lol this is more like a test than an actual edit/amv or whatever you wanna call this. I also wanna apologize for the bad quality. Its pretty hard to find footage from this movie that's actually HD since its like 20 years old. Still one of my favourite races in Initial D, just kinda wish they didn't make stage 3 into a movie. Hope u enjoyed this. Should I do more initial D edits?
This is one of the races from Initial D stage 3 where Takumi (the Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86) races Miki (the Toyota Celica GT4) to save Mogi (the stupid whor-). The song is "Killing My love" by the alias 'Leslie Parrish'. It's never actually used in the Initial D anime (even though it's easily one of the best eurobeat songs) and was only used in the Initial D Arcade stage 2 and Initial D Special Stage games.

Well he is drifting on a mountain delivering tofu every single day with no excuses and no matter the condition of the weather, even it means driving fast in rain, dry asphalt or snow he can drive fast. And he mastered Mt. Akina already
Despite having good skills in rallying, he's at his best on the tarmac and.... Not so much on dirt. It is afterall what (spoilers)
Made him end his rally career on early retirement

That's how his career ended in MF Ghost (manga sequel to Initial D). He crashed on a stage and was badly injured.

imagine speeding in the snow while trying to get away as fast as you can from some guy, just to see his headlights pop out from behind. Then you spin out and he almost crashes into you but he's somehow better at drifting than dk from tokyo drift. (no, not donkey kong)

Imagine you own a rally car and being chased by a delivery drift machine
misconception the 86 in initial d isn't set up for drifting to say..... more so handling/racing. with drifting you don't need a perfect balanced car since it spends a large amount of time with no grip anyways you really just need a solid/stiff rear and a cushioned front ideally. while Takumi does drift a lot I think the car is more tuned/set up touge which is more similar to rally then drifting tbh. Takumi seams to preform what's called a clutch kick when taking tight corners and that initiates a drift while in rally I feel the hand break turn/Scandinavian flick is a more popular approach. Granted in rally most cars are awd so a clutch kick wouldn't be as effective I think.... I have a very surface level understanding tbh... :>
@@jacksonclark9826 thanks for the explanation tho, but i just said that for a meme purpose only and i based the car on its uses "drift on the touge" if you're talking about the 86 its just a normal car that has been set to its full potential, like the engine, suspension, transmission, etc. So its not a rally car or drift car or a race car either in my opinion its just a daily car that has been perfected. CMIIW (sorry for my bad english)

@@oljackie35 technique yes but the ae86 is build closer to a rally/handling build then dirft. Takumi does using power sliding/drifting in it but the car is much closer to that kinda set up

in the initial d series, Miki (the guy in the Celica) isn't a racer like the rest of the characters takumi races. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's the only person takumi "races" that isn't an actual racer

The celica was a great rally car but the only time it was ever in the series was when a rapist was driving it, who didnt even know what they were doing nor were they a racer. the detail that he kept the 86 keychain that Natsuki made for him by his keys is so cute, i wish they actually stayed together, Mogi got alot of screentime and their relationship felt more special than of that with Mika the girl he got with in the end. i even remember when Natsuki cheered for Takumi and his passion and wanted him to succeed and was even worried about him when he was out racing and she sat in her room on the floor all sad. We didn't get these kind of scenes with Mika, she just fell for him because she felt bad after slapping him because she wrongly accused him of being a dick to her friend lol. And all they (Mika And Takumi) did was go on a date where they played golf. While with Natsuki we got christmas together, the whole school thing in season 1, the scenic car date with a kiss, and ofcourse this winter heroic rescue. Idk i just care as a viewer more for Natsuki than for Mika who was just plain boring

got pulled over by a cop listening to this song, destroying my local mountain. The officer was impressed with my driving skills, said he'd never seen someone so fast on this specific road in 10 years. I qualified for reckless driving, but he didn't give me the charge, only a ticket. Wouldn't change a thing. Probably the most fun/free I've felt in my whole life, but always remember to acknowledge your own mortality and value safety over everything.

They used it in the 4th stage for switching there positions and the course around the cone

This scene... God did they put everything into this scene. It just show the importance of story when you want to make something epic. The racing part wasn't really different from what we are used to,maybe even more bland, appart from the fact that there is snow and he is racing solo. But the stakes alone managed to make it 10x times more epic. Like really, i think just this scene is worth years of experience in storytelling.

So glad my cousin showed me a glimpse of this anime when I was younger, I ended up watching it on my own years later (Months ago as of writing this), and I cannot tell you how much I love it and cars in general now. This video now really makes me want to learn how to drift even more, so that I can show it off one day. Maybe I'll even post it on this account, if I ever get that far.

It makes me a bit sad that Natsuki doesn't really make an appearance afterwards. I guess it's a way of telling that Takumi has already moved on, but still, there could've been at least *something.* Maybe memories of her really wasn't the most pleasing for Takumi(which makes too much sense to deny), or maybe Shigeno forgot. Wh'knows.
In my opinion, it was just showing that Takumi moved on and Natsuki moved on as well into her new life in tokyo. After Natsuki moved, Takumi really focused in on Project D and becoming a better racer so it makes sense that before he met Mika, he would move on from Natsuki. plus, she was cheating on him for money💀
