Link made me feel so much better about the way i fumbled, when i meet them on the tour of mythicality in Austin TX. What i planned to tell them was that the way i felt about meeting them, was similar to the way they described meeting Merle Haggard for the first time. Instead when i turned the corner and i first locked eyes with Rhett, the first thing out of my mouth was: “YOUR REAL!” 🤦🏻♂️. Translation: i watch you guys so much on screen, its so good to finally meet you in person. Of Course they where as gracious as any mythical beast can expect. Hope to have a chance for a redo in the future. But if i don’t, like Rhett said “no harm was done”. Love you guys!
I feel you, I still feel embarrassed when I think about my meet and greet in Amsterdam, beforehand I also thought about things I wanted to say, and then I was standing in front of them and couldn't speak, total starstruck, and I am bad at conversation in general. Rhett and Link, thank you for being you and reminding me to still have faith in humanity 💚 BTW, those parties sound like pure hell to me 😂.
This conversation was VERY interesting. I respect Rhett and Link so much for this. The industry is no joke and they are staying true to themselves the way through. Not easy to do. 👏🏾
Hollywood is so strange-I listened to the awkwardness you felt and it’s so reminiscent of middle school cliches. You two are wonderful, genuine people and your way of expressing yourselves is what makes you so relatable. It may be that these people are famous but it’s also possible that they don’t look at the same moments as stupid or overly invasive; perhaps, later, they might look at it as endearing. I can’t help but think how you are famous and scary to us-how would you feel about us in the same circumstances? ;)
Someone should make a website dedicated solely to awkward hollywood party/red carpet pictures. You can so tell when the pics are over-staged or ridiculously exaggerated, it'd be great to see them compiled into one place of awkward glory.
Around 18:45 when Rhett is describing Link being outgoing with people and how he is more aloof makes me kind of distinguish Link as more of a dog-type and Rhett a cat-like personality. Is that why Rhett hates cats? They represent things he might see in himself? Sometimes I hate things I relate too much too as well, so just wondering.😝
I love the fact that Link doesn't have a clue about who people are! I worked on the business side and the fact that I don't like movies, and I don't watch network TV, worked in my benefit every day. lol It removed fame from the equation and equalized us. Try being real. You're both very talented and f%$king funny. Own it.
One of the things we love most about you guys is your relatability. As someone from the "Rhett school of social interactions", these sort of networking conversations are a nightmare. Cause let's be honest- y'all have Hollywood industry parties, but there are tons of career paths that hold who you know in high regard- some of which you'd never expect. (spoiler alert: I'm in veterinary medicine, and there's a lot of networking that happens to get your pets the best care possible that never gets shown on Animal Planet! ). Hang in there, and keep true to yourselves!
I give Rhett & Link credit, I couldn't do this. I think most people would love to be a successful celebrity of some kind, these days, but few are willing to fight through the actual process.
Just wanna say on a personal note... this has been helpful to me. In industry lead events, sometimes you don't see the dynamic for which the event is set up for. You may 100% go out to have a good time, but maybe I'm seeing the sense in having that 60-70% with like 30% towards achieving something within that. Your preservation, your perception of how you're coming across. Makes all the difference. And the best people have fun and achieve all that. Thanks
this is my favorite ear biscuits because it’s real and down to earth but also really funny with all of links awkward conversations with other celebrities
link and mamrie at a party... can we please? she could film behind the scenes on her phone or something and give play by plays. we could play it on LTAT 😍 pleaseeeee
Link keep being Link in all your glorious personality. Trying to be someone else or change how you are naturally is what’s wrong with the world. And celebrities are the ones making people think they need to be fake. Y’all be y’all and if they don’t like y’all their the ones missing out bc y’all are wonderful genuine honest guys. Not everyone is meant to be a mythic beast.
Link WAS A CELEBRITY in the room because he was being himself and nor caring about the game just being GENUINELY HIMSELF. True celebrities have big enough personalities that people want to be around them not the other way around. When I watch Rhett and Link on The Tonight Show, Link carries a presence as big as Jimmy Fallon. Do you Link, cause you works !
This Ear Biscuit is particularly great (in the company of so many other great Biscuits). I really appreciate how honest and open this discussion is ... and fascinating, honestly. Fly on the wall of Hollywood 🧐
I’ve never been to such a party and probably never will but this convo was extremely interesting and somewhat relatable (cause the same can be applied to other types of social events in some ways). Also I had no idea how these things worked and now I do! Fascinating stuff.
I saw a clip from this podcast when it came out. I looked you guys up and started listening from the beginning, I just listed to this podcast yesterday. I have loved the ride!
I find it so cool how you guys explain your thoughts during a party and what really goes through your head. Most people aren't that way. That's something that I really appreciate about you guys. You're so real with your audience and that's amazing. Also, It was neat to hear that you met Bo Burnham cause I like his work. It'd be nice to see him on the show sometime.
This makes me feel so much better!! I felt like my interaction with you guys was so weird because I was nervous and naturally socially awkward!! I was so embarrassed!! Awkwardness FTW!! 😅
I loved Link's entire conversation with Lil Dicky. Flawless interaction really. 😂 I don't think he should have changed a darn thing. I actually mean that. Link is charming, and being perfect especially in Hollywood is overrated.
Hahahahaha "this is for you". The best bit about the Lil dicky story is that the awkwardness Link actually did is what Lil dicky does intentionally in his outros.
I love the platform you guys have created. It's totally unique to you. When you decide that it's time to hang it up one day, and just relax...spend more time with family and friends...it will be interesting to see how you guys adjust. I just feel like you two won't want to go separate ways. Been fans of you since commercials! I know it sounds funny but, I really think you guys will develop a stronger friendship with some time apart. BTW...nothing that anyone else creates in the future would ever compare to what you two have done.
This is what freaks me out Blu-rays are now “old fashion” When I was a kid Blu-rays came out and when I was a teenager they were the shit. It hasn’t been that long since I’ve been a teenager, It’s crazy how much the Internet progresses the way we consume media within the span of half a decade.

Speaking of Mark Duplass and awkward encounters. I live in a fairly small town in Northern California and he just so happened to be vacationing with his family there. He came into the pharmacy that I worked at and I instantly recognized him when he came up to my counter. I ended up saying 'so um, you're in movies right?'... It was so embarrassing, but he was super nice about it.

Oh, I thought maybe you'd talk about going to the ESPYs or meeting people who really love you guys, so I was super excited to listen to this one but... I guess that party wasn't very fun. I still loved it though and it made me think a lot about what my experience was and how it compared to yours! I met a lot of really famous people at the ESPYs who wanted their pictures with me, but meeting you guys was the biggest impact on me for the whole night for sure. I'm really sorry if I talked to you for too long (I'm super sure I did), or ruined your opportunity to talk to others, or if I came off as creepy, or if I'm coming off as creepy now... I'm fully a Link for sure after listening to your experiences. Not to mention that it's just hard to talk with people, even the other girls, when you're "famous" for what we are "famous" for... I don't even know what I'm saying now and this is an editable comment, but... anyway... I'm sorry if I killed your mojo at the ESPYs, or made it so that you don't want to talk about it, but I just had to spend the time talking with you and while I'm not ready to say "I love you" like Link did to John Mayer, I did feel the compulsion to talk to you in the same way, so I hope you'll forgive me. Also, my identity is not a secret, I've been public since I found out 2 years ago, so if that was the issue, well, it's not anymore haha
I finally got to listen to this episode of Ear Biscuits and really enjoyed it. I find it amusing how celebrities are put on a pedestal. My son does a lot of extra work in movies and TV shows and while we aren't buddy-buddy with any one famous, you come to realize they are just people doing a job. Just a few months ago my son was working on a movie in Atlanta. I was coming from getting something out of my car back to the holding area and passed Michael B. Jordan as we were walking through all the trailers. He was with some guy, no body guards and no one else around. I just walked on by though, because he's just a guy at work trying to do a job. I don't know what famous person it would take to get me to stop and act like a total fan girl. John Stamos? lol
I consider new entertainment, like yourselves, more creative than the majority of modern greedy Hollywood "creations" Be proud of what you do... you are pioneers. 👍
Guys do the "best conversation" in the room maneuver --- Stand in a middle section or a highly visable area and you both talk to each other and have the facial expressions and body language that says you are having the best conversation in the room .. others will want to be a part of it or at the very least know what you are talking about. Basically get others to come to you! You don't have to be famous for this. Works perfectly at conferences with higher up executives.. especially with people who don't like to "not know". Good Luck-- and Link please stay being you... your innocent genuineness is your Super Power!
Link seems like a sweet guy. I think the word "vapid" is correct. Fame, even in the smallest possible circumstance, even in the smallest circle (eg. Winner of the town beauty pageant) inflates egos. Then there are fan/stalker issues and people who have used them. Celebrities being unapproachable and snobby is a human norm... that will never change.
Doubt it. Not that R&L aren't talented, but I don't think they have a big enough platform to generate a big enough sum for Netflix that it would be worth it.
They recently talked about pitching a show or movie to a big platform in another podcast but I can't remember which one. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was Netflix because that seems like the perfect platform for their unique style of humor.
@@onyxgothicc True. To clarify, it's not that I don't think a show of theirs would succeed on there, I just meant that I don't think Netflix would just "give" a show to someone, just like that. It would take a lot more planning, and meetings, etc.
Listening to this Ear Biscuit brought back so many memories of when I worked in radio and was invited to a lot of music industry parties and back stage meet and greets. It's often hard for me to start conversations at parties and I end up being a wallflower and people watch. It's crazy how many musicians who also felt uncomfortable at parties and were doing the same thing, I ended up having great conversations with.
Wait for us guys. I think a good number of your fans are on the younger side. One day, when your own fans grow up to go to the same party, we'll be the ones to say hi first. The impact GMM has for some people is huge man. You guys truly are part of our daily routine. And I know I'm turning into link-talking-to-lil-dicky-about-his-exercise-regimen right now but, ya better believe it.
I love that Link told John Mayer he loved him. I can see myself doing something as awkward as that. Is it any wonder I love Link (see?!). He's basically me in male form in alot of ways through to the love of music, clumsiness, etc. LOL. This reminds me that I have to continue my John Mayer exploration. Got goosebumps from "I Don't Trust Myself With Loving You". He IS a brilliant guitarist. He in turn inspires me to resume my guitar playing.
Thank you for sharing your mishaps with us Rhett and Link and if I'm ever as lucky as you guys are to go to one of these I now know some ground rules to set me off right!
I think y’all need to rethink this party strategy. You need to stick together, I think. The charm offensive works best when you present a united front. At the very least, don’t lead with the guy known for making things awkward.
I hope this doesn't mean Rhett and Link start becoming snobby and Hollywood. One of my favorite things about them is how down-to-earth and funny they are, and I'd hate it if they lose that.
my 2nd time watching and it’s still my favorite by far! so human/relatable and funny. i’m more like rhett.. in life in general lol but i wish i were sweet and outspoken like link
When they describe going to parties as wanting to be a part of the club and only going for the credit, it's practically like they're talking about school.
Rhett, Link. I’d like to introduce myself I’m Brandy (lol) Anyways, I actually loved the interaction Link had with Lil Dicky lol sounds wholesome and funny

John Stamos? lol
Good episode guys! Thanks for sharing those experiences
I consider new entertainment, like yourselves, more creative than the majority of modern greedy Hollywood "creations" Be proud of what you do... you are pioneers. 👍
This was so entertaining to watch, thanks for sharing all these stories
I can’t get over the ending, both Rhett and Link are hilarious. “Stephen Root, I’m coming for you”.
Link's got a sick MJ top! 🔥
"I've got a bad back. Where are your doughnuts??"
Much more educational when the educators experiences it 1st hand💕 thank you for this!!!
You should go to Netflix and ask them for a series/movie. I'm sure they would give it to you.
It's crazy how many musicians who also felt uncomfortable at parties and were doing the same thing, I ended up having great conversations with.
you dont need those hollywood parties - you've got me!
This makes me less anxious thinking about meeting you guys on tour; it makes you appear more real and human
Link has new rules he counts 'em
I love that Link told John Mayer he loved him. I can see myself doing something as awkward as that. Is it any wonder I love Link (see?!). He's basically me in male form in alot of ways through to the love of music, clumsiness, etc. LOL.
This reminds me that I have to continue my John Mayer exploration. Got goosebumps from "I Don't Trust Myself With Loving You". He IS a brilliant guitarist. He in turn inspires me to resume my guitar playing.
Go see him live, he’s INCREDIBLE
@@jonnyquatromusic I ended up buying all of his records. My vinyl hoard added him.
@@kristinaglasgow7317 good for you! He's incredible
@@jonnyquatromusic Really is. Bought all three colour pressings from his shop for the last album.
Hanging for the Link and Mamrie party episode!
Thank-you for putting timestamps in the description!
Great to hear about your aspirations! And the wild wild west!
The fact that i knew it was Lil Dicky from Link's description is insane omg
More biscuits like this!
I want Link’s way to be how everyone describes distance
I was waiting for it man..
Time to chill out and enjoy Rhett and link
Thank you for sharing your mishaps with us Rhett and Link and if I'm ever as lucky as you guys are to go to one of these I now know some ground rules to set me off right!
You guys are the best type of people
I think y’all need to rethink this party strategy. You need to stick together, I think. The charm offensive works best when you present a united front. At the very least, don’t lead with the guy known for making things awkward.
Link's MJ shirt made my day
I hope this doesn't mean Rhett and Link start becoming snobby and Hollywood. One of my favorite things about them is how down-to-earth and funny they are, and I'd hate it if they lose that.
36:14 me when I get called out and don’t have a pre-thought-out response
my 2nd time watching and it’s still my favorite by far! so human/relatable and funny. i’m more like rhett.. in life in general lol but i wish i were sweet and outspoken like link
When they describe going to parties as wanting to be a part of the club and only going for the credit, it's practically like they're talking about school.
Hahaha. Omg. I love you too Link! 😂😂😂
Rhett, Link. I’d like to introduce myself I’m Brandy (lol)
Anyways, I actually loved the interaction Link had with Lil Dicky lol sounds wholesome and funny
