Has anyone ever asked "why the need for ACE inhibitors"? The real question should be "why do the vessels constrict?" (thereby necessitating the need for Ace inhibitors) The body is designed to take care of itself, and in most cases, will do so if it is provided with the proper ingredients and not fed chemicals that disrupt its natural functions. The medical profession does not understand the role of water in the body, and so they use prescription medications to treat symptoms of thirst - it's more profitable than prescribing water. After oxygen, water is the most important resource the body needs to live - and surprisingly, salt comes next. Every cell, every organ and every function in the body depends on both water and salt. It's because one or both of these elements are severely lacking that health problems develop. There are two oceans of water in the body. One, a fresh water ocean, is located inside the cells. The other is a water/salt mix located in the area outside the cells. Proper health requires that these two oceans stay in a critical balance.When you become dehydrated, the inside of the cells lose 66% of their water volume, the outside area loses 26% of its water volume and the blood (which is 94% water and salt) loses 8% of its water volume. Losing this water from the blood causes it to thicken. At the same time, the vessels constrict - because they have to remain full at all times. Thus, the heart must work harder to push thickened blood through the narrower vessels, resulting in a raised blood pressure. When ACE inhibitors are used, they hold the vessels open, which does lower the blood pressure by providing a larger area for the thickened to flow more freely. The problem you have here is that nothing is being done about the thickened blood. As long as the blood stays thick, the vessels will have to be held open by the medication - and this leads to a lifetime dependency. Blood thinners can be prescribed, but this option is no better. You have to take them for the rest of your life, also. Neither of these drugs are the answer for treating high blood pressure because the high blood pressure is caused by the dehydration - you're treating thirst with medications. The only way to treat dehydration is with water. Increasing both the water and salt intake will cure the dehydration. Once the dehydration is taken care of the high blood pressure will resolve itself with no further need for medication.Before anyone jumps in talking about the dangers of salt and high blood pressure, let me resolve that issue before anyone loses sleep over it.The medical claims that salt causes high blood pressure are totally false. According to the belief, too much salt holds too much water in the vessels that put too much pressure against the vessel walls - like a water balloon. read again about the mechanical action of ACE inhibitors - they hold constricted vessels open. You can't have overfilled vessels and constricted vessels at the same time - it's impossible. The reason diuretics work the way they do is because of what else is going on at the same time. As explained above, to maintain proper health, the balance between the two oceans of water must stay in balance. Dehydration throws off this balance, and the body has to try an correct it. It does this using vasopressin which uses reverse osmosis to filter fresh water from the water/salt area and inject it into the (fresh water) cells. Reverse osmosis requires an increase in pressure to overcome the normal osmotic tendency where the cells share water with the rest of the body. This needed increase in pressure comes from the raised blood pressure resulting from the constricted vessels. Diuretics remove water and salt from this area outside the cells (not from the vessels). When this water and salt is removed, it narrows the difference between the water volumes inside and outside the cells. With the water volumes inside and outside the cells are brought closer together, not as much pressure is needed for the filtration/injection process, so the blood pressure readings go down. This may be somewhat overwhelming for someone who doesn't understand the role of water in the body, but it helps to think of high blood pressure as a two-part process (that happens at the same time). 1) The blood thickens and the vessels constrict causing the blood pressure to rise. 2) The water volume between the oceans inside/outside the cells recovering their balance. This is just one example of the connection between dehydration and health problems. There is a similar connection with asthma, diabetes (T2, not T1), arthritis, MS, acid reflux and even cancer - all are the result of a water shortage. The medical profession doesn't promote water and they demonize salt. This leads people away from two of the most important nutrients they need to stay healthy. How long do you think the body will keep going until problems inevitably develop?Staying properly hydrated will not only prevent such problems, in most cases where severe tissue damage hasn't developed, but it will also cure many problems. This only applies to acquired health problems. Type 1 diabetes is an issue with a non-functioning pancreas, and so this will not fix it, although it may lessen the amount of insulin needed.

She says "angiotenshin" instead of angiotensinogen and says angiotenshin instead of angiotensin... :| Other that that it's helpful, just irritating to see an on virus mistake like that especially when on screen it says angiotensinogen. I made my notes from the book. i made a list of any thing that was different, stood out over another. that became a flashcard. interactions, and adverse I would read my list about 50x a day. At work, I read my flash cards every hour if I could and when I got home. also, simple nursing and other videos helped.
bigguedo That PTCB wasn't what I was expecting because most of these online free practice test are leaning more towards the Excpt test which is more retail based than it is hospital based like the PTCB and my state only approves the PTCB. I just would like to know what books you got the majority of your information from and what you recommend the most. I failed my first attempt passing this test, but I'm going to try again with pharmacy technician experience this next time. I tried it without experience the first time.

I notice commentors on RUclips often say these videos help them even in advanced classes. This includes myself. I would think that colleges and high schools should take a hint and understand that RUclips especially with graphics does kick the butt of "traditional" education. Perhaps we could have the best of both worlds? One can only hope.

However, Im still looking for other classifications of anti hypertnsives, such as Alpha Blockers, Central Acting Symptholitc/Adrenergic Blockers and Direct Acting Vasodilators. Request: Complete menstrual cycle (with hormonal level fluctuation over the time period which will help to understand contraception in particular.) It is contraindicated in the case of BILATERAL RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS as a depletion on A-II will lead to dilation of the efferent arteriole as well, thereby reducing the glomerular filtration pressure and hastening the development of renal failure.
A video on antibiotic classes would be very helpful. Also one on allergies to antibiotics and which other classes a patient couldn't take (i.e.if allergic to penicillin can't take.....)

To all of the future RN’s or LVN’s, I wanted to share with all of you a drug app I made while studying for my NCLEX. Wait a minute, so I drastically cut down on my salt/sodium intake to help lower my blood pressure and now you're telling me to stop using salt substitutes if I'm on blood pressure medication?? How am I supposed to season my food then??
Do what I do and don't season it except with a bit of pepper. It won't kill you. My food has gotten more bland over the years. It just depends on how much you want to stay alive. I am 74 years old. Had veins appearing in my left leg. Started flexing my calves and got more rigid with diet. Instead of having a stroke or heart attack this year the veins have left...gone. I have not choice. I am winding down at this age. You may be younger but you are still winding down. Take care.

I notice commentors on RUclips often say these videos help them even in advanced classes. This includes myself. I would think that colleges and high schools should take a hint and understand that RUclips especially with graphics does kick the butt of "traditional" education. Perhaps we could have the best of both worlds? One can only hope.

-Ace Inhibitos, -ARBS, -BetaBlockers -CaChannelBlockers. However, Im still looking for other classifications of anti hypertnsives, such as Alpha Blockers, Central Acting Symptholitc/Adrenergic Blockers and Direct Acting Vasodilators.
Im hoping you could do educatioonal vids for these drugs as well!

At 4:30 you say ACE inhibitors are good for CKD, but then you say at 7:10 that renal disease is a contraindication. Can you explain this further?
contraindicated in case of unilateral renal artery stenosis
It is contraindicated in the case of BILATERAL RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS as a depletion on A-II will lead to dilation of the efferent arteriole as well, thereby reducing the glomerular filtration pressure and hastening the development of renal failure.
A video on antibiotic classes would be very helpful. Also one on allergies to antibiotics and which other classes a patient couldn't take (i.e.if allergic to penicillin can't take.....)

First of all thanks for these videos, really helpful when it came down to getting the essentials down to pass nursing school. I passed the NCLEX on my first try this August.
To all of the future RN’s or LVN’s, I wanted to share with all of you a drug app I made while studying for my NCLEX. I compiled all of the essential information I gained from my time as an RN student, along with information from Davis’s Drug Guide (15th edition), these youtube videos, and common NCLEX review courses (NCSBN, HURST, KAPLAN, and Elsevier), into one easy-to-use app to help you pass the NCLEX. It has over 350 common medications, with information ranging from class, generic (Brand) names, mechanisms of action, vital signs to watch for, labs, common and severe side effects, possible routes of administration, and nursing considerations. The best thing about it is that it is also web-based so you can access it on any device, and you can add your own notes throughout the app, as well as add new categories and drugs. The app also contains helpful lists showing normal lab values, normal vital signs for all ages, medication administration info, common conversions, isolation precautions, pregnancy categories, and substance abuse schedules. Wait a minute, so I drastically cut down on my salt/sodium intake to help lower my blood pressure and now you're telling me to stop using salt substitutes if I'm on blood pressure medication?? How am I supposed to season my food then??
Do what I do and don't season it except with a bit of pepper. It won't kill you. My food has gotten more bland over the years. It just depends on how much you want to stay alive. I am 74 years old. Had veins appearing in my left leg. Started flexing my calves and got more rigid with diet. Instead of having a stroke or heart attack this year the veins have left...gone. I have not choice. I am winding down at this age. You may be younger but you are still winding down. Take care.

I'm only 27 and was given an ACE inhibitor 🙁 I recently lost 25 pounds. I don't understand why my blood pressure was 146 over 101
I was on 40mg a day and it made my bp go UP. It got lower when I cut my pills in half =20mg a day. Mabey you taking too much dose
