Firstly, I'm surprised to see Swing Out Sister receive some attention! Secondly, I'm surprised you chose "Kaleidoscope World." It has some nice tracks on it, but I would tend to feel "It's Better to Travel" or "Get In Touch With Yourself" are better representatives of SOS's sophisti-pop style. I'm interested in hearing your view on SOS. Thanks for the list, too.

@@themandownstairs4765 I still haven't listened to their whole discography, but if I have to tell you where to start, I'd say either I'll try living like this or Classroom sexxtape; REGRET WHEN IT WAS LOST, Heavy black heart and Live from Japan are also pretty sick. I was hooked by their style for mainly two reasons, their use of sampling and the sensation their music gives off to me. Their sampling style is chaotic, frenetic and grotesque, and somehow that sounds amazing to me. Techincally speaking, they are geniuses, I think. But what always grabbed my attention was the atmosphere that all this weird sampling, song titles and general aesthetic gave off to me. All feels so... tragic, somehow, in their music. Even in the happiest moments, there's always this impending sense of doom, loss, and detachment from reality. Almost like their music tells the story of someone totally losing hope and faith in life, love and people, but it does by manipulating samples of video games soundtracks, tv series excerpts, and kpop songs. I find this all... harrowing. Obviously it's a matter of tastes, like everything. But personally, I love them for this reason, and they're probably my favorite vaporwave artists. And I need to finish listening to their discography damn

Cool to hear your different stories behind each of these albums. I'd probably throw "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd in there. It makes me feel like I'm being projected into an outer-space dream, traveling through different spatial dimensions; a genius combination of sounds!
Shit, my fav Queen's album is "News Of The World" too, although my favourite Queen's song is "Bohemian Rhapsody", "News Of The World" has the tightest tracklist out of all, but aside from that here are my top 10 (I'll put one per artist) and a few reasons why 1. Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face To Face) (2018) - The signature will-toledo song writing, the album sequencing, the repeated lyrics and drums, the crashing melting high hats, the drum fills, the clean but dirty guitars, the themes of that ~gay depression~ and naive teenage love blended with lofi rock, indie rock, alternative rock, dance rock, psychedelic rock, a bita post rock. what can I say? My fav album of all time. 2. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975) -The funeral ceremony of a rockstar. Pink Floyd signature prog rock with deep deep conceptual themes. The story of how Syd Barrett, the rockstar, "died". The syd barrett guitar melody appearing all over the album, the machine songs, the shots thrown at the music industry (more is thrown on Animals later on), the lyrics fuelled by unbridled regret about syd barrett. Imo the best opener and closer for an album ever. 3. Frank Ocean - Blonde (2016) I enjoyed this SOO much more than I thought I would. Deep cuts really explained my opinion on it to a tea. It's just a companion with me throughout my life. a warm bath. The reverb reverb reverb, the themes of duality, the nights BEAT SWITCH. the solo then solo REPRISE with 3stack There is like 2-3 mins of filler and that's it. yeah.. 4. The Microphones - The Glow Pt.2 (2001) HOw did Phil fucking mix that. I haven't listened to this for a long time in my life and it is already on 4th place. The cryptic lyricism, the cryptic depression, the feeling of being there. The charm of it all. The "getting dumped by your girl then going to the woods to discover meaning then just get mauled by a bear". and it's also crazy how this 20 track album just still has no filler. Prolly the tightest 20 track tracklist I've listened to. (prolly only reason blonde is above is that I haven't listened to this for a long time in my life, just discovered this last week) 5. Mac Miller - Circles (Deluxe) (2020) Just such a great fucking post mortem album, I love the plucky reverbed almost lofi inspired instrumentals. The creamy moments of neo-soul inspiration. I use it as a way to hang out with mac for just a few minutes now. I cry everytime "Right" comes on. 6. How To Disappear Completely - Seraphim (2019) Somehow, this is the most convincing portrayal of the afterlife I have experienced. This really sends you to purgatory, limbo and back. Still have no idea who HTDC is, whether they are a band or a just a person but they just used some guitars, mikes and etc to bring heaven to earth even if only for just over 1hr and 30 minutes. 7. King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969) To this day, this sounds like rock music from the future but it was made in 1969. The rush of guitars and horns on 21st century scizhoid man gave me scooby doo running vibes. The folky ballad that is I talk to the wind. The somber mellotrons on epitaph cementing its place in prog rock. The mourning mix of instrumentals on in the court of the crimson king. The reason this end up being a bit low is just the atmospheric improvisation on Moonchild that I didn't care for as much. 8. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly (2015) So much shit I couldn't say it all here but fantano has a really good review on it so just check his review out, but it's still arguably the best rap album of the decade. 9. Tyler, the Creator - IGOR (2019) IGOR has just proven itself to me with its weird charm, weird mixing and it's incredible catchy-ness. It's such a fresh, conceptually bold breakup album and i feel like it has no right being this catchy but it is and that's that. 10. Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want (2018) haha guitar go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbrbrbrBBRBRBRrbrbrbbaoshbis hcej fabuk dia gbsjvb ah boiua. haha front man screams vivid cursed imagery. Oh Shit we doing Honorable mentions, alrigjht. The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time (2019) A Silver Mt. Zion - He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts Of Light Still Grace The Corner Of Our Rooms (2000) SWANS - The Great Annihilator (1995) Weather Report - Heavy Weather (1977) 2 8 1 4 - Birth Of A New Day (2015) Clipping. - There Exists An Addiction To Blood (2019) Kids See Ghost - Kids See Ghost (2018) Death Grips - Exmilitary (2011) death's dynamic shroud.wmv - I'll try living like this (2015) Panic! Alrighty, here goes: 1. Parkway Drive - Horizons 2. Fiasco - Native Canadians 3. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 4. Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns 5. Alice in Chains - Dirt 6. Anamanaguchi - Dawn Metropolis 7. Limp Bizkit - Significant Other 8. Windows96 - One Hundred Mornings 9. 猫 シ Corp. - News at 11 10. Luxury Elite - World Class I don't know how many of these you've heard, but I want to go into detail for some of these (top 5), so I apologise to anyone reading for my wall of text that I'm about to type. Horizons blew my 13 year old mind, changed my life and I'd go as far to say that it saved my life, and the fact it still holds up after 13 years shows how much of a game changer it was for the metalcore genre when it was released back in October 07'. Going to the 10 year anniversary show for that album was basically a religious experience for myself, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to this. Native Canadians is just complete and total mathcore/mathrock chaos and I've never, ever been able to find anything like it since. As far as I'm aware this is a one in a million album and if anyone would like to educate me and end my depression in not being able to find something like this , please do. Sadly, Fiasco split in 2012 and they never released their album The Front, and while I hold out hope that it comes out at some point, I've probably got a better chance of Half Life 3 being released. Dark Side of the Moon is an album that I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. I first listened when I was about 15 and the theme of life, death and the monotony in between scared the hell out of me, but I was also relaxed by the sweeping and beautiful guitar work of David Gilmore. The solo in Time has such a visceral effect on myself, I can't help but almost flow with it when I hear it; and The Great Gig in the Sky is just perfection and is hands down my favourite track on the album. A Thousand Suns in my personal opinion is very similar to Dark Side in the sense that from start to finish it is telling a story. The difference I find (aside from the subject matter) is that where Dark Sides songs are strong out of context and as a whole album, ATS is stronger as a whole and it loses something when broken up. The subject matter of nuclear warfare and how on the road to humanity trying to better itself we have and are killing each other in the process was unexpected and a great change of pace for LP. The composition of the music and the effects used really do give off the feeling of a potential Mad Max esque, post nuclear war wasteland with blinding light, both from the bombs dropping and the sun reflecting off the vast destruction we brought on ourselves. Was just really fresh and grown up for LP. I miss Chester :'( Dirt is one of those quintessential grunge albums that came out in the early 90s. Layne Staley's haunting vocals exploring mortality (Them Bones, Rain When I Die) and the effects of the addiction he had (Sickman, Junkhead, Hate to Feel) that he felt he couldn't escape (and sadly didn't), with Jerry Cantrell's slugey guitar work is a match made in heaven. I feel this is the gateway album for AiC and highly recommend for anyone keen. Alright, I'm done. Sorry for the ramble, have a great day :)

Shit, my fav Queen's album is "News Of The World" too, although my favourite Queen's song is "Bohemian Rhapsody", "News Of The World" has the tightest tracklist out of all, but aside from that here are my top 10 (I'll put one per artist) and a few reasons why
1. Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face To Face) (2018)
- The signature will-toledo song writing, the album sequencing, the repeated lyrics and drums, the crashing melting high hats, the drum fills, the clean but dirty guitars, the themes of that ~gay depression~ and naive teenage love blended with lofi rock, indie rock, alternative rock, dance rock, psychedelic rock, a bita post rock. what can I say? My fav album of all time.
2. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)
-The funeral ceremony of a rockstar.
3. Frank Ocean - Blonde (2016)
I enjoyed this SOO much more than I thought I would. Deep cuts really explained my opinion on it to a tea. It's just a companion with me throughout my life. a warm bath. The reverb reverb reverb, the themes of duality, the nights BEAT SWITCH. the solo then solo REPRISE with 3stack There is like 2-3 mins of filler and that's it. yeah..
4. The Microphones - The Glow Pt.2 (2001)
HOw did Phil fucking mix that. (prolly only reason blonde is above is that I haven't listened to this for a long time in my life, just discovered this last week)
5. Mac Miller - Circles (Deluxe) (2020)
Just such a great fucking post mortem album, I love the plucky reverbed almost lofi inspired instrumentals. The creamy moments of neo-soul inspiration. I use it as a way to hang out with mac for just a few minutes now. I cry everytime "Right" comes on.
6. How To Disappear Completely - Seraphim (2019)
Somehow, this is the most convincing portrayal of the afterlife I have experienced. This really sends you to purgatory, limbo and back. Still have no idea who HTDC is, whether they are a band or a just a person but they just used some guitars, mikes and etc to bring heaven to earth even if only for just over 1hr and 30 minutes.
7. King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969)
To this day, this sounds like rock music from the future but it was made in 1969.
8. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly (2015)
So much shit I couldn't say it all here but fantano has a really good review on it so just check his review out, but it's still arguably the best rap album of the decade.
9. Tyler, the Creator - IGOR (2019)
IGOR has just proven itself to me with its weird charm, weird mixing and it's incredible catchy-ness. It's such a fresh, conceptually bold breakup album and i feel like it has no right being this catchy but it is and that's that.
10. Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want (2018)
haha guitar go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbrbrbrBBRBRBRrbrbrbbaoshbis hcej fabuk dia gbsjvb ah boiua.

10. Luxury Elite - World Class
I don't know how many of these you've heard, but I want to go into detail for some of these (top 5), so I apologise to anyone reading for my wall of text that I'm about to type.
I miss Chester :'(
Dirt is one of those quintessential grunge albums that came out in the early 90s.

4. FF7 Remakes Soundtrack is just incredible. I listen to songs from it extremely frequently. It is my go to to relax, get hyped, ect.
5. Nate has been a huge influence on my musical tastes. I started listening to his music when I was very young and when he was doing pop song parodies about video games, but as I grew older his music grew too and is a very large reason as to why I listen to pop punk, punk, alt rock, metal, ect. Songs of Time is probably my favorite of his albums.
Songs of Time is underrated af. No one can change my mind there.
Thousand suns was also my favourite Linkin park record! It's been a while since I last listened to it tho
