Thanks a lot for this guide! The FPS gain was sadly insignificant, however overall the experience did become a bit smoother and a bit more responsive with less freezes/fps lag spikes and random delays.

So all these people in the comments saying, “ I can’t get anything above 170fps” but they only have a 144hz monitor, it doesn’t matter how good you optimise your game you still need a monitor to go with it, just a heads up. 😁
You can notice a difference with 60FPS 60Hz and 200FPS and 60Hz. I'm pretty sure it's more of a responsivnes thing tho. But it still makes huge difference Linus did nice video about it testing various Hz monitors/FPS with different people and found that pretty much everyone performed better and felt increase in FPS above monitor refresh rate and biggest jump was between 60 to 144hz after that not many people could recognize which is which (144hzvs240hz).
Hey Bacca! I just tried to follow this guide step by step from a Rust that I haven't tweaked on my new machine. I gained around 10-20 steady FPS on a highend computer, and not only that, it feels smoother. No screen-tearing is what makes it feel so smooth. Thanks alot for putting this guide out here! Hugs all the way from Sweden
Full screen isn't just about more FPS, which is negible 1-5fps most times if that. What it truly does is removes latency to the game, because your PC is focused on the game. In borderless, the game wont take priority always over other programs. So introduces possible input lag or screen delay(which is alot harder to notice), depending on your setup.
I saw a very noticeable increase in my fps and also following these settings helped me to stop extreme lag fps drops when looking at certain objects such as TC's and looking the general direction of object heavy monuments such as launch site and large oil rig. Thank you very much very helpful guide.
if you have fps problems when looking in a certain direction try turning on/off occlusion culling. I think it's in the experimental tab in the options.
If you have an issue with other games just showing a black screen after using these settings, just go back into NVIDIA Control Panel and change your Vertical Sync. I'm not sure which settings is best to put it on, I just put it as ''On'' when playing other games.
Vsync removes screen tearing, but increases latency and caps your frame rate to your monitor refresh rate. I recommend it off, but it’s your own preference.
Didn't really gain any fps at all but this got rid of all of my lag spikes which is pretty nice. I'm guessing the people saying that they got double the fps were on really high settings before and have good pcs
if you are g-sync compatible while using a nvidia card using your native resolution aka the max res for your monitor; it will give you more frames and quality
Definitely didn’t double my fps but made me improve it by like 10-20 fps however playing in high pop servers in green areas is unplayable but that’s a rust issue really.. the trees causes serious issues even when harvesting it you lose fps
