love your videos and love the old schooners , my grand father , at 24 years old , skippered them from newfoundland to portugal/spain in the early 1920's ,i have his sextant ,
I would need a lot of learning before I could "use it in anger "as the old saying goes . I also have a few old wooden Marlin spikes and mallets as well as paper work from 1920's . Vessel was "Elsie L Corkum" 126 tonnes built in La Harve NS 1912 ,@@cycharbormaster7171
It’s crazy to be a dreamer sitting on the couch living through those who take the leap and live a life so different from what has become the “NORM”! Hats off to you Man , Hats off to you!
I love watching your videos, such a nice escape from the heat of the midwest! I have followed you for years and am so happy to see that you are able to be self supportive via U-tube. I hope someday to be a “Patron”. What I love the most aside from your great content and cinematography, is that you make the persona of an able bodied “seaman” come to life, you look the part and are always so confident. Yet I can see deep down you are a very caring person. I love your knowledge and how you convey it. You always are researching and learning things that are very interesting. I am not sure if you have yet published a book, I am sure you are working on one! Best of luck and best of winds!
I have watched quite a few channels pull in to NZ, but this has been the best coverage of all of them, you have really captured this place. Great adventure footage. Love it. 👍
Love the period-style music, shanties get my heart every time, something about them. And the shots of the rigging, me figuring out what's going where... Thanks, James.
My favourite channel. I love how James and Triteia stay cool calm and collected in the face of whatever the sea gods throw at him. In this case Tangaroa god of the sea in Maori myth and legends. Nice to see my country on here. And great pronunciation of our Maori place names too. That storm was crazy wild here. Thanks for such a great channel.
Great video ... enjoyed seeing everyone having a good time on the big boat. Also great job mixing in the music ... at first, I thought that it was some band playing on the boat ... that's how well it fit in to me! Anyway, thanks for posting.
Another superb film, James. Always about the scenery, the nautical elements, and the yachts - none of the clickbait, false celebrity, and filler of too many channels. Wonderful productions, moving music, and real connection to both the experience and the viewer.
Hi James, that was beautiful, thanks for sharing. I would like to say about that cleat knot you did, just take care, the way you did you can hurt your hand badly, may be safer to keep your hands clear from the grip of it, I saw an accident just like that in a tugboat and was nasty.
@@ziplockbag3243 the knot is perfectly done, but the hand inside the loop is dangerous, can be safer, that's my point of view, having worked with heavy cargo.
Hi, James. Great videos and I love your lifestyle. I'm Jarkko from Finland, from the other side of the globe. I work at a lock in Taipale, in a town called Varkaus. I see a lot of sailboats at work, when will you be here? :D
Hi James, love watching your videos thank you for sharing. Quick question, having sailed on a catamaran and monohull which would you get if you were to do your whole adventure again? More specifically if you were building your own yacht for your travels, around the 30-35ftt range and out of plywood, which would you opt for? Thanks in advance
Thanks for your reply, is there any particular reason? Sorry for all the questions but I have plans for each and I've just moved to South east Asia to make the build affordable so I'm looking for as much input as I can get
In my opinion, Catamarans aren’t sailboats, they are motorboats with an sail. There is zero skill required to sail a catamaran ( but a ton of skill required to park them in a tight marina if they don’t have bow thrusters)
Wonderful Videos, I Always Follow You. Sorry To Hear That Your Wife Left You, But Don't Worry God Has Someone Buitfull Lady For You Very Soon. Good 👍 Luck Sir.
This channel is so underrated. I love what you do and you do it so we’ll all the way around. Much love

Wow! That sextant must be an absolute treasure to you! Any plans to 'use it in anger' as they say??

As always, great content, production, editing and music.

I would never own a multihull

One look at you and they would offer you a summer job mate...😂 👍🏼😎 No worries. Those old vessels were definately manpower heavy...
✌️👀....new here
Come to Indonesian uncle
Don't mean to sound stupid but ain't it winter in the southern hemisphere
Most of these sailing channels are not in real time, usually a couple of months out or more. 🙂
