that was amazing content bro nice work done i got my f10 done the same way you did stunning channel keep up the good work bro amazing stuff fairplay bro👌👌👌👌👌
Hi Danny, thanks for the video. Is this one rear wheel drive only? Is it possible the change the timing chain the same way without removing the whole engine on the drive models?
You don't have to. I did this job in 318d and you can get to all the oil pan bolts without sub frame removed. You need to have the oil level sensor removed from the oil pan and use different extensions on E10 socket to get to the bolts in the front.
@@ravigop Thanks man! Do you know if I can put the car on RAMPS for the whole timing chain replacement process? Will it block the access to the oil pan? Or do I need to put the car on jack stands, resting on the subframe.
@@MRS_ERP No problem, ramps will do with some additional wooden blocks, however I recommend a good pair of tall jack stands. I got the one from SGS with saddle height of 14".
I've got a 123d 2008 and had a chain replacement couple years back, but it ran dry a little few month back after a oil leak now that's sorted I have a little rattle from the chain, been told might be worth trying to change the tensioner bolt that accessible from the outside, what do you think and where is it? Thanks mate good video
im doing mine next weekend and im going to pull the motor out because i dont have a car lift front end off and pull it out plus if you have never done one before like me u can see what u doing better
Nice to see it done without taking out the engine. Thank you very much!
One of the first vid that doesn’t show every nut and bolt refreshing change short and to the point not 4 hours long 👍

Hi @danny goddard
Do you need to remove subframe in order to remove the oil pan?
Thanks,

How did you take the sump off with the rack and sub frame in place. I am having trouble getting to the bolts above the rack
So how did u unbolt torque converter bolts?? Did you remove starter and then unbolt them??

Novice here - would a loose or snapped timing chain prevent the engine from turning over?
Where is your shop in UK? Maybe you can service my car timing chain :) thanks
Did you have to raise the engine to get the sump out.
