63 y old physician from Germany here; retired as from now. I do respect your decisions but I can clearly say that I loved my job as a doctor. And I loved it because I could give and I felt privileged and grateful that I could study medicine and work in that field. And I would do it again. So many people don´t find the balance between giving and taking. Feeling happy and satisfied is about giving, not taking. Maybe at some stage in your life you will find a way of giving your talents as a doctor to people who cannot afford it otherwise. Wishing you an always safe journey.

I appreciate your point of view and it's amazing you got to do something you loved your whole life. Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of the job I enjoy and I am trying to focus on giving even whilst not working. I accept that I am no saint and I do have other aspects of life that I would feel unfulfilled if I didn't get the chance to explore them. Thanks for your comment!

This is a really heart filled video. ❤
I hope more people choose to get out and enjoy life. I’ve been surrounded by many family/friends death since I was little so I’ve always lived my life how I want to because you never know what’s going to happen. I choose to live minimally and without a lot of the common “comforts” that many think are a should have. Most “things” are a luxury. That just my opinion.
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for being creative and speaking your truth. Lots of people could learn from you

It has nothing to do with generations. I dropped out and became a hippy in 1972 and haven't looked back since! I love the remark "wheelchair wealth" 😂

"followed the social plan" I feel like if a person don't go to university, get married, get promoted, gain wealth, etc etc in the right order, we are conditioned to feel that something's wrong.

Thank you for broadening horizons. I agree about regrets. It's a bit nonsensical to regret past actions or decisions. I often think "I wish I'd done x and not y".. but here's the thing - I would have had to have been a different person to do x. And if I'd done y, I would have missed some of those elements of x that I love, that are part of my life as I know it. So, good thinking.

A purposeful life is the key - whether you are working in an area you enjoy ( which surprisingly can happen !!) - or have had options to opt out and find personal fulfilment .

The traditional narrative goes something like this:
Study hard → Get a prestigious job → Work for 40+ years → Finally retire and "live"
To 9-5 workers who've spent their whole lives in one job: Your dedication is admirable, but if you're feeling trapped or unfulfilled, it's never too late to make a change. The biggest regrets often come from not trying, rather than trying and failing.

I’m a surgeon. Been working for 5 years since getting out of residency. I enjoy my work but do not enjoy taking call for 7 says straight which is the way it’s done at my current job. I did it for 3 years, didn’t really mind but now since last year I cannot stand it any longer and as soon as my contract is up in less than 2 years I will be leaving this job. I want to keep on doing surgery but high volume is no longer important to me or in other words making large sums of money is no longer of utmost priority. After achieving a certain income level, earning anymore comes at increasing cost to your health, your family life, your spiritual life and literally higher cost as you climb the tax brackets. Fortunately I’ve put away a fair amount and been doing well in my investments. I could and would be willing to take a 50% pay cut if it meant I could direct more time and energy towards the things that really matter.

I am an f2 and the nhs is making me miserable, I didn’t apply for further training and everyone is shocked by my decision. I’m planning on travelling and leaving for australia eventually. Your videos have made me feel more confident to do what’s right for me rather than tolerating my own and everyone else’s misery

As someone from the new generation, I just hope the whole traditional system breaks by itself. It's flawed by design, leading to a staggering amount of loss of talent, economic imbalance and long term disability. All we can do is break the chains from it no matter what, and hope this old-fashioned system will collapse by itself. We were all lied to from the educational system and onwards. I work for FAANG and can't wait to quit that hellhole next year to live out of my actual labour rather than selling my hour to immigrants from india and such. It's all a ridiculous show. Decentralization it is.

Easier said than done. Everyone has to pay taxes, there ain’t no way out of that. You can live like a hippy for a bit, but in the end you’ll have to work.

This is something i really want to do, but as a single father who works full time, it seems impossible. Working has always made me miserable. No amount of money would make me happy, i just know deep down that this working life isn’t natural and definitely isn't for me. Great videos though
